Ruger Precision Rimfire

If anyone is still looking for a bore guide for the Ruger Precision Rimfire, I have found one on Ebay. It is made by Inovation 3d maker. You can find it at https://www.ebay.com/str/i3d. It is well made. It fits snuggly in the rifle. It lines up perfectly to the chamber and bore. The only issue I had was getting it out. It took me a few minutes to realize that you have to push the 'Bolt Release' like you do when getting the bolt out.

I took my boy out with his RPRr and with mid grade ammo he was hitting 100 yards with ~ 1.5” groups (mid grade ammo). I would love to get him this chassis for his RPRr. It can hang with my wife tikka, the cz457 and kidd 10/22 for the most part.
My biggest issue is the extraction of midgrade and match Eley ammo. They get stuck in the chamber 1:50 rounds. Can’t figure it out. I have swapped the barrel to a whistlepig match barrel and same results so I switched it back to the OEM barrel.
Tempted to send the gun back to Ruger but I’m afraid he will end up with a new gun and it won’t be as accurate
I had the same problem with stuck cases and Eley.
I took some JB Bore Cleaner and used a 223 chamber brush to hopefully burnish the chamber.
I also have the bolt throw switched to full length.
I found that a one step vigorous actuation of the bolt up and back has solved the problem.
I now have over 500 rnds through the RPR and maybe it just required break in?
Group is at 200 yds Lapua Super Longe Range.
Last Match we had.
My goal is to have all 10’s but this is gogin to require spotting each indiviual hit and making adjustments.
With the top line of hits, two clicks down and the right side hits, two clicks left.
The last 10 of 25 of this match were 10’s.

After installing a Shaw match barrel on my RPRF, I was getting some of that sticking problem and as I recall, there was a warning from Shaw about their match barrels having a tendency to have such sticking problems. It's something not uncommon for the way match barrels are designed where it's intended to push the bullet into the lands enough to engrave them. I decided I didn't want such a sticking problem, so I loosened the barrel, backed it out just a hair and tightened it back down. Chambering was still a little tight, but no sticking like before and very happy with the way it shoots.
i just got a used rpr with shaw barrel and closing the bolt is very hard. gonna shoot it and see but am thinking that the backing the barrel off some is gonna be the thing.
My RPR/22 has the same Shaw barrel. I had to take .002 off the barrel breach face to get the bolt to close properly also had to take about .001 or so off the slotted interface mating surface so that it didn't have to be hammered very hard to get it to seat. IIRC Shaw stated the barrel may need a little bit of massaging to fit perfectly as the tolerances from Ruger are not always perfect.
good to know. now to just find a competent smith around here. 2 i knew are retired. the rest seem to be glock and AR mechanics.
I’m trying to remember if it came with a relatively thin plastic case… I want to say yes but I don’t remember
Mine came in a cardboard box. Doubt any come in a fancy case unless it was a custom dealer request.
I seem to have gotten very lucky with mine. My BIL won an RPRF in a raffle and didn't want it and sent it my way unfired. After reading a bunch of reviews I wasn't expecting too much in the way of accuracy. Put a scope on it and took it to the range today with a bunch of different ammo. Another piece of luck is it seems to really like the CCI SV. I don't like the trigger though, so will probably get a Timney 2 stage for it.
CCI SV rounds 11 through 20 at 50 yards. The squares are 1 inch for reference.
Bottom right is Lapua X-act. I went back to CCI SV for the bottom left of the large center square, then attached a suppressor for the last two groups at the top of the large square. Looks like the groups opened up a bit with the suppressor on.

hello every one i just picked up a rpr-22 and i live in a state where i cant get a suppressor what's everyone's thought for a break or is it not even worth to spend the money on it and leave the thread cover on it and also what is best for zero 25 yards or 35 yards I got a range that i shoot at that goes out to 300 but I would like to push it to about 100 or 150 if possible

Muzzle break is not needed.
I sight in at 50, 100 200 or whatever the range is that I shoot the most.
Of course this means target Adjustment knobs and not friction adjusters and your reticle.

Put a $20 aluminum E-bay brake on mine just for grins and giggles to find it reduced group sizes a little so I consider it worth the cost. It's a tanker style brake, not one of the tubes with a lot of holes.
Maybe get a sound forwarding device
I have one on my 10/22. And it is def helpful for faster.22 round like the punch or stinger in that it did push the sound forward

It appears that someone has mentioned firing "stinger". Page 14 of the manual that came with my RPR states "DO NOT USE "STINGER" AMMUNITION.
I run a Kaw Valley Mach 3 Linier Comp on several of my precision 22's. It does help quiet the shot a bit ( but not like a true can.) This particular model is lightweight and you can change it's length to "tune" to some degree. I have not seen an accuracy loss ( and in 2 cases , saw a small accuracy improvement) .

I have been running a Witt machine SME on my RPR with SK standard. Makes a difference both in sound and accuracy. Same thing with my suppressor, it will change my accuracy, good or bad depending on the ammo used. Same with the sound.

Picked one up today and grabbed a Leupold rimfire scope to go with it. I’ve been reading about the rifle being sensitive with 1022 mags? Is this true?
Reason I went with it over the Tikka was it would fit my girlfriend easily out of the box (fused vertebrae, hard to get her good cheekweld).

I use 10/22 10 round mag all the time and they work just fine for me. Though I will say that the mag assembly was a bit loose for the mags in the beginning that presented an issue. I tightened things up with a little aluminum tape to shim around the screws.
The 10/22 10 rounders in general work better than the 15 it comes with. Some rifles may need some magazine spring tension reduced using the Tandemkross tool if you are seeing bullet scraping from the bottom of the bolt.
The KIDD 10/22 magazine latch plunger and spring can solve most magazine wiggle problems. Foil tape or velcro is also an option there.
Took it out today had some fun, bottomed my scope out… Its almost dead on at 100 with the 30 moa mount but a foot or so high at 50. Should I go 20 or 0 moa for a base and, what base should I use? It wears a cheap leupold rimfire mount.

When you say 30 MOA mount are you talking about the 30MOA picatinny rail or are you talking about 30moa in your scope mounts? The RPR comes standard with a 30 MOA picatinny rail. If you added 30moa scope mounts you would be at 60MOA total. What kind of scope are you using? I use an Arken EPL4 6x24x50 and have no problem with bottoming out on a 30MOA pic rail and Im zeroed at 50yds.
My Gen 2 .308 RPR came with a 20 MOA rail and my Gen3 6.5 PRC came with a 30 MOA rail. One certainly need to check to see how much MOA their rail provides so one can set up their scope properly.
If you are talking about a RPR Rimfire in your response, the rail is 30MOA. That came stock on mine. I dont know anything about the 308 or 6.5. I thought this was all rimfire on this thread.
My bad. I didn't pay attention to the heading. But, I do have an RPR Rimfire that I got about the same time as I got my .308 and it came with a 20 MOA rail.To my recollection the Rimfire has always had a 30MOA rail but who knows
What I do know is mine came with a 20 MOA rail. I purchased it in 2018, not long after Ruger came out with it.
I'm thinking they started shipping the 30 MOA rail guns in late 2020, which kinda coincides with when I got my Gen 3 RPR center fire gun (like June of 2021) that came with a 30 MOA. . . ???
