Not sure about India, but most of the developed world is facing population collapse. If China is facing the same it's a direct result of their one child policy. Regardless, we are all headed into dark times, by our own hands.
It seems that the US is reacting to the challenge of it's hegemony in a seemingly uni-polar world.
The escalations between the West and Russia have been interesting, to put it mildly. The West seems intent to grind down Russia as much as possible, with all announced intents of having a "forever war" in Ukraine. The recent comments by Biden in regards to his stance on China is also interesting, and breaks away from the US's long standing "strategic ambiguity" and recognition of the "one China policy".
I've also seen more and more rhetoric in the media over how Russia and China is so bad, and the attempt to normalize a war with either of those countries. And NYC recently released an add about what to do if a nuke strikes. This is not normal.
I don't know where all this escalatory rhetoric is going to lead to. It seems that the machine is moving in a certain direction, one in which I don't agree with at all.
The media and governments staggering loss of credibility.
Russia and China are currently leading the pack, and have/are acquiring the capability to do something about it.
Look forward to lots of "no American blood on foreign soil!" rhetoric concerning Africa by 2030 by whatever party is out of power at that time.

I'll admit to not paying too much attention to Ukrainian politics till the dementia patient started agitating against Russia. That got me doing research...Looks like there are folks that warned of this very situation decades ago.

So the take aways are that many Ukranians believe Zelensky is a puppet of the west, and they want to join Russia now. At least in that region.

historically...the south and east have always been tied to russians, and the north and west to poland (where the jewish pogroms existed, killing over 100k jewish people, before the rise of hitler and the nazi party).
It'll be interesting to see what the future brings. If Ukraine loses they are done - If Russia loses they are done. Ukraine will be absorbed into Russia if they lose- Russia will disintegrate into states if they lose. I can see why the Russians are acting the way they are. They are threatened with their very existence. I can see why folks in Ukraine would rather align with the West. If I were Zelensky, would I want my nation to be more like The East or More like The West?

i don't think russians are interested in absorbing the west of ukraine, where the hatred of the red army and russians in general is deeply seeded.
as far as the standard of living, ukraine is much poorer than russia, despite the west controlling them for almost a decade.
gdp in ukraine is about the same or even less than many african nations.

If all of western Ukraine goes Eu and these 4 regions currently under referendum turn Russia how is that not acceptable for both? Respect each others wishes and let it be. Each side gains, kiev no longer under ru influence. The People in the south east get to be Russians.

If the Ukraine loses the areas in blue shown on the map @theLBC posted then they become landlocked and lose a sizable natural gas deposit.
The nat gas isn’t an issue. The WEF, UN, NATO and the EU have decided it will be phased out. The landlocked is a real concern.

I would agree with your assessment.Russia has lost as many troops in the last 7 months of fighting in Ukraine, (almost 54,000), than we lost in 10 YEARS in Vietnam! Their equipment losses are even more staggering.
This war is going horribly wrong for Putin. It is devastating Russia both morally, as well as economically. They can't keep this up, and Putin knows it. Last week someone from his elite inner circle gave up his location. They hit his limousine, and damaged it.
Ukraine is now taking back captured Russian territory with the advanced weapons they're receiving from us and other countries. The Javelin Missiles are proving to be devastating to their tanks and armored personnel carriers.
The people of Russia are turning against him, and he is on borrowed time. It's only a matter of time before they get him. He has cost the politically powerful Russian oligarchs there billions of dollars in seized property and currency worldwide. They are NOT happy with him.... And remember, they are the ones who put him in, and keep him in power.
And even if these numbers are inflated by 50%, it is still staggering.

russian's defending their own border and the area where they have been historically invaded is quite another matter.
After a decade one does not get chased out, weak crappy politicians pull us out. Same with Vietnam, we were actually winning the war CIA trained Ho Chi Min stated as much after the fact.
