Did someone seriously suggest that Sako should modify their centrefire rifles to use a single column (and third party) magazine? That is why they own Tikka! Sako's (fixed and detachable) centrefire magazines have seventy? years of (to the best of my knowledge) unquestioned reliability. Why jeopardise reliability and give up income?

Sorry, I don’t have any first hand experience of the Bravo, but I intend to get one at some point.
There is a lot to like, especially as a hybrid hunting rifle. Two things I would have liked:
- I’d like to see it offered in 7mm-08
- Like to see a short action version
Not sure about the State's, I'm in Canada and just got mine delivered yesterday. Haven't had chance to take it out shooting yet, but hopefully this coming week.
I have a precision 6.5creed on preorder and last I heard as of 2 weeks ago its looking like early September for arrival.
Neither of those are bound to happen. And if you've ever used a Sako rifle with their detachable magazine you would not be wishing for an AI magazine in it. Not even an AW.
This. If the S20 magazines are anything like TRG magazines, they will be very easy and comfortable to load, and feed ridiculously smoothly and reliably.
I don't know anything about TRGs but the magazines that came with my old Sako 75 were works of art. The shit that passes for AICS magazines today are a joke compared to Sako magazines.
A lot of people don't know what a good detachable magazine is.......

These are all long action correct? I wonder if a long bolt stop can be made and decrease the length of the bolt throw.

Saw and held the hunter model last weekend. Really light rifle overall, but had a good feel to it. The action didn't cycle near as smooth as my sako 85 however. It us definitely a niche rifle, but will probably be good at what it does.
Picking up my S20 Precision in 308 tomorrow 
Once again, looks like SAKO hit it out if the park! These things are going to sell like hot cakes!

Lots of plastic, not sure what the mlok bits are made of. Different from the rest of it. Tikka like of course. Nice trigger, with a bit of bolt slop (long action bolt for short action cartridge).

For those of you that have handled an S20 - how solid is the mating interface between the buttstock and the rest of the chassis? Is there any play?

I have the precision and don't notice any play. I also bought site unseen and have not had it out yet to shoot.
Looking forward to hearing from folks that are shooting one. Specifically wondering how rigid the fore end is--does the aluminum backbone extend under the fore end "skin". Also curious about the barrel weight and accuracy with volume shooting. Looks a bit light, especially with a can.
A long bolt stop is standard in rifles delivered in 308/6.5CM so bolt travel is as short as possible.
Makes for a fast and non binding bolt. It's brilliant for rapid fire, better than Tikka T3.
I'd really like this long action in 223 for rapid fire.

The S20 is intriguing, I'm in the market for a 6.5 prc and since Tikka doesn't come in that caliber my search lead me to Sako, in particular, the hunter version.

Looks interesting, the reach to the trigger looks really long, but you can never tell until you handle one. I only wish the 300 had a faster twist rate than 1:11. It almost seems too good to be true, it's cheaper than a base model Sako 85 but has a full AL chassis backbone and fancy stock etc. so where are they cutting the cost corners?
Was really considering purchasing this rifle but it seems that support in the US is pretty slim for Sako rifles. If I ever wanted to rebarrel the S20 in the future it looks like it might be kinda of a hassle.
I see Tikka barrels that can be custom selected on websites (cerakote, length, chamber, flutes, etc) or prefit barrels that are ready to go but nothing for Sako.
If Sako is chambering in 6.5 PRC and Tikka barrels come off the same production line then that would lead me to believe that Tikka will soon offer a 6.5 PRC. I will just wait for that and then get a KRG stock or an Allterra carbon hunter stock.

Got to handle one today...seemed very nice for the price. Both models (hunter/competition) were listed at $1449. Disappointed that per Sako Select dealer no 2 stage trigger models in US for now...anyone have any different info?

I'm going to guess the TRG and S20 do not share the same demensions for barrel tenon? That would be cool though.
Sako and Tikka have been using the same trigger since 1990 (except the set and two stage triggers). I just put a Tikka TAC A1 two stage in my M995 (TRG action hunting rifle).
The KRG Midas is a direct replacement for any modern (post -90) Tikka/Sako if you want to.
I haven't taken a S20 apart, but my guess is that the tenon is the same as on any Tikka T3x.

Per EuroOptic, the 20mm muzzle version is not available in the U.S. Neither is the 2 stage trigger.
Saw a S20 Precision 6.5CM in the store yesterday, and immediately had to hold it. Fit and finish seem very nice for the price point on a synthetic mass production rifle. Action felt at least as good, perceptably better than the Tikkas "in store". Trigger blocked off per Cabela's. Felt a bit more refined than a CTR, most of which can probably be attributed to the heft and design of the stock/internal chassis. Audi S4 vs RS4. I am considering buying one. For someone who isn't in the market for both separate hunting and precision rifles yet, and wants spend the difference of optics, it may be a good option and hard to outgrow and want something "nicer" right away or end up with a project.
The question is: do I love it $600/160% more than a CTR, and will it perform $600/160% as well, and perform well enough at both roles to justify any "savings" of a potentially convertible rifle? Since I am just looking for an all around .308, I'm not sure. I walked away with the hopes of shaking possible "premium placebo" effect because I was so drawn to it already, want to see a Hunter version, and start fresh again another time.

I decided to pull the trigger on a 300 Win Mag S20 Precision as a medium range elk hunting rifle. I will be shooting the 200 grain Accubond primarily.
I ordered it sight unseen from EuroOptic since none of my local dealers had one. The main selling points for me were:
-Sako quality and reputation
-Met my weight and barrel length requirements for a 300WM hunting rifle
-Integral pic rail
-DBM
-Ability to load longer than SAAMI COAL
Initial impression is very positive. Action is smooth, better than most Tikkas I've handled recently, but a different feel from a Sako 85. Single stage trigger is excellent - zero creep and very clean break. Magazine seems well designed and indestructible. Fit and finish is typical Sako - it blows away any factory rifle that is made in America.
Someone asked where they were cutting costs in order to meet the price point. My guess is in the stock. While solid, it is made out of what I would describe as cheap feeling plastic. It feels perfectly functional, but cheap.
Max COAL for the magnum "Cartridge+" magazine looks to be about 3.55-3.6. Better than SAAMI, but you won't be seating 215s way out there. Haven't had a chance to measure the throat yet. It's the same magazine for the 7RM, and it would be ideally suited to that cartridge.
Hoping I can get out over the holiday and shoot some groups, but so far I am very happy with the rifle.

TRG Mags also cost ~250 MSRP, 180 if you search around (usually). Definitely hurts when I buy those bad boys.
Other way around, a TRG mag will work in a CTR.
I do agree AICS seem very cheap in comparison - I guess I was just pointing out they are cheaper, haha. But CTR mags are nicer in the hand than AICS mags as well and the street price is fairly similar.
CTR/TRG mags are superior to AICS mags in every way possible.

They really need to make these in 26 or 28 Nosler. Would make a great Elk gun.
From what I have seen around here in elk country, about 70% of the Nosler cartridge rifles have been rebarrelled to something else after generally miserable performance. They seem to shoot match bullets really, really well, which looks good on test targets, but they shoot hunting bullets for shit.
Sako does make brilliant magazines. Best in the business other than maybe the AX mags.

I am right handed, and this is the first time I've ever left shoulder'd a rifle
the ridge on the left side of the pistol-ish grip fits nicely in the palm crease of the thenar eminence (think palm-pad of palm)
seems reasonable whether I have the left thumb wrapped around to circumferential grip, or whether I keep the left thumb left sided (NOT wrapped around)
compared to my magpul hunter grip which is closer to the precision model,
and
compared to my hogue over-molded stock which came on my Remington 700
its reasonable, not what I'd call uncomfortable
but not ideal
hold-out got the precision model if you can
