Not sure I have this in the right forum, but figured those of us with suppressors typically have SBRs as well...

I stumbled into a guy that does same day NFA engraving just outside of San Antonio. He did great work and was cheaper than other vendors I looked up and that's even before I factored in shipping.

So anybody in the Central Texas area in need of NFA engraving should look up Gray Laser Engraving http://www.graylaser.com

Didn't even have to disassemble the lowers. If you schedule ahead of time you can even watch him do it.

Re: Same Day NFA Engraving (Central Texas)

Just make sure that he is meeting the NFA engraving depth requirements. I know quite a bit of those laser engravers that dont..

Re: Same Day NFA Engraving (Central Texas)

Good to know. but damn, why does he have to be out past calavares lake? if you have time, would you PM me what it cost you to get a lower engraved?

edit: and the guy has the ATF SBR graving requirements on his website. looks GTG.

Re: Same Day NFA Engraving (Central Texas)

From their website "Short Barrel Rifle Engraving The ATF requires a depth of no less than .003" deep and 1/16" tall. GLE meets and exceeds the ATF requirements.
Any gun manufactured, imported, or made on and after January 30, 2002 must have manufacturer information placed at a minimum depth of .003” with a height no smaller than 1/16”."

He's GTG. Has a pretty serious business-to-business operation as well... looks like he handles a lot of engraving for smaller manufactures of suppressors. He wouldn't divulge for who, but there was a fair amount of product on hand just waiting to get serial and maker info on it before beginning the transformation to a true suppressor.

Re: Same Day NFA Engraving (Central Texas)

Thanks for the tip SA. I'm in Austin, but I'll drive down there with a couple lowers for same day service. How much does he charge?

Heck, mail it to him! I'm guessing a lower would probably fit into one of those USPS small rate boxes pretty well.

I'd be interested to know what it costs as well if somebody wouldn't mind shooting me a PM.

Hey guys. Contact him directly. Bill Gray (owner) is a super nice guy. I don't want to position myself as his agent or sales guy
