Savage 110 tactical owners?

Itching for another savage. Had a 12LRP but hated the money I sunk into it with bottom metal and a trigger, to get away from savage mags... the 110 looks good to me, except the stock.

Not sure how I feel about the looks. Or how functional it’ll be vs a normal cheek riser.

Anyone have one? What are your thoughts

The 110T is about $550-$600

I’d love to grab the elite but then I’d have to wait forever to get glass for it after dropping that much on the rifle

Had one about 2 years ago and loved it. Def the most cost effective rifle I’ve ever owned. I’ve shot better rifles that were $1k more, but the 6.5 CM model with 24” barrel I had was solid and consistent to 1000 yards out of the box. Buy one and love it, and then upgrade to a chassis if you get the itch.

That’s how it was with my lrp. I’m glad I had a friend with me for proof the day I was laying in the dirt, fist balled up as a rear bag and a Harris bipod and shot a 5 round group at 300 that measured outside to outside at just under 0.6”

That was the most accurate rifle I’ve ever had and it was a factory built one. My ruger Hawkeye with current load shoots an inch at 300 which still tickles me to death.

The 110T seems to be the best bang DMR the buck.

Isn’t the 110 a long action?

Mine was actually a 10T from Cabellas. Not a 110.

I had one for a while. Added a muzzle brake and decent glass and it was super accurate. The stock was flimsy but the gun shot great. The risers and LOP shims worked pretty well. Definitely a good bang for the buck rifle.

I read somewhere that savage is abandoning the 1x/11x numbering protocol and just going with the generic 11x. I dislike this, and illustrates why savage is always playing catch-up to the likes of Remington. KISS, stop changing bolt release location, screw spacing, etc.

I’d be willing to bet the 110T in SA calibers would be the 4.4” bolt spaced actions.

It’s a short action 4.4” and will not work in a long action stock. Savage changed the model number to 3 digit for them all now to help confuse us even more.

My 110T is a short action 20" .308 and is indeed the 4.40" bolt spacing.
$475.00.

My dad shoots 2 10T’s. 6 and 6.5 creedmoor. The are both very accurate. Great shooters for the money.

I have a 24" 110 Tactical 308. Love the thing. With hand loads I get .25" groups at 100 yards.
The butt pad is a soft rubber and the screws that hold it on are into plastic. Its a little bit of a pain to unscrew the pad to change the riser but its doable. Its one of those set it and forget it kind of deals.
I havent changed it in a while but I remember I dont want to take the pad off more than I need to because of something stripping I think. Might be by ex but idk.

Its a good system in my opinion but its not immediately changeable. Honestly I dont even think about it now that I have it where it needs to be.

Both shoot awesome accurate. The adjustable combs are nice, but with the tall one on, ya can't get a cleaning rod through.

What is the twist and barrel length on the 22-250?

I'll hafta look. Just Google 110 storm in that caliber. It's in the specs. I recently replaced the factory pencil barrel with a ss bull. The factory shot very well though.

Had one in 308. Was very accurate but mine would hang up when feeding, so I sold it. The stock design is brilliant for a cost effective solution. The only drawback is if you want to use the higher cheek risers, you may want to remove them for cleaning.

I have a Savage 10 FCP-SR in 6.5 CM that came as a Tactical package with the heavy bolt handle. Stuck it in an MDT LSS-XL Gen2 chassis and it is a consistent .7 MOA gun. Never had any issues with it and it was a sub MOA gun right out of the box with $300 glass.
