Savior Equipment "LRP" Rifle Bag - Thoughts?

I've been closely following firearms bag manufacturer, Savior Equipment, and they seem to be releasing very sleek and intuitively designed firearms bags. Most recently, they released their "long range precision" bag with a bunch of features that I've seen separately, but not all together in one bag. This includes a muzzle guard, slot of cleaning rod, pockets for tripod and spotting scope, and also includes scope cover. Image appears to show a quality product that's quite modular and at a very reasonable price point at $150.

Thoughts and experiences with this and other Savior product lines? I'm considering their 36" specialist bag for my AIAT folder.

I just ordered one yesterday. Should be here Friday. My Condition 1 source dried up so I'm giving the 51" LRP a try.

Have never seen one of these but looks like it's got a lot of stuff that I personally don't need or want, also it's imported probably from China, I never by any of this cheap China shit. just picked up an Armageddon Gear Precision Rifle Case, just a basic really nice padded rifle case, has none of the fluff you really don't need but a great case made in USA.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Savior bag. I've had a 42 inch bag for a couple dmr type ar's for a couple years. It's called a classic now. It's been great. Good padding, heavy zippers, lots of pockets if you need them. I got it for short trips up the road to the range, my hard cases were kind of a pain, bulkier than I wanted for that. I just ordered an Urban Warfare 55 inch for my main bolt gun for the same reason, 95 bucks from Amazon. Don't know where it's made, but they do have a lifetime warranty.

I've got one of the Savior 2 Rifle bags. It does its job but I literally only use it to transport two rifles. All my other range gear goes in a separate range backpack. Savior makes good bags.

I learned a long time ago as a photographer that it’s a false economy to go cheap on bags. I then relearned that lesson on gun cases.

That’s the hard part about life…remembering the lessons you’ve learned.

My stupid 55” Allen Velocity case and dumb Explorer Ranger double case (avoid: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0782PP1JJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title ) are barely adaquate and the seams are ripping apart after gentle use.

The 57” Armageddon precision rifle case I have seems quite well made and it not so bulky that I want to leave it at home. Buy it from Brownells as they have the cheapest shipping I found and if it rips later, their forever warranty should cover it.

My LRP just got here. I'm pleasantly surprised so far. Stitching is clean, not sloppy, and no loose threads that I've found. YKK zippers and Duraflex buckles. Heavy webbing for both sets of handles and securing the back pack straps. Heavy material with lots of padding. Tons of room for just about whatever else you want to carry. I'm trying to upload photos but keep getting a forum error.

Bought double rifle one a while 1 1/2 to 2 years ago, and I haven’t had any problems with it. Would look harder now and try to buy US made stuff, not sure where these are made. Mine still looks new.

Thanks guys, sounds like most owners have positive things to say regarding the durability of their bags. I reached out to Savior and they indicated that the bags are not made in china, but rather in myanmar and they focus on quality control to ensure there are no issues. That said, with the pricing and my appreciation for their designs, I'll pull the trigger on one of their bags. I get that USA made product would likely be better quality and I genuinely try to support as much as possible. However, none of the bags have met my "requirements" in design, so why spend 3x for something I don't like? Will report back!

I have several of their bags now, and I work[ed] with a lot of US soft good manufacturers, including multiple pack companies, and I'm highly educated on soft good construction. Savior Equipment makes them in Myanmar (formerly Burma). While I appreciate the whole "Made in America" sentiment, especially since I work with so many manufacturers here in the US, fact is we all own plenty of non-US made merchandise, even made in China, that is NOT poor quality. The majority of soft goods from Walmart to designer stuff is made over there, and companies get what they ask for when they spec out a product. If you're getting cheap shit from China, it's because the company that ordered the product designed and ordered it that way to save money. All that said, whoever is doing their production, is doing it exceptionally well. Some US manufacturers should be very concerned about Savior cornering the market here in the price point that they're at. I have numerous US made bags of this style, that were very disappointing, not even remotely of the same quality or construction that these bags are, and they were double the cost. I love to buy American, but doing so for a product at twice the price yet it's half the quality... that doesn't make me supportive, it makes me a sucker.

I've been ready to pull the trigger on their 24" bag for my Scorpion. If it seems nice, I may get the larger bags for ARs and such. The reviews I've read seem to be overwhelmingly positive.

It doesn't look like a bad bag, but I'm having trouble seeing what makes it stand out compared to similar bags from all the other online startup brands, especially if we're talking about what's available on places like Amazon. Of course, now that I say I want that, I probably won't be able to find anything like it.

I got the 51" LRP. That's a 26" finished barrel with an Area 419 Hellfire. I don't think you could fit two rifle in there.

^This^ The Armageddon gear case I have is really nice and is probably less money than some of these "imported" bags and it's made in USA, don't know why anyone needs all this garbage drag bag shit they put in some of these bags, they make range bags to carry all your other ammo & equipment in, put your rifle in a good quality case take it to the range or camp & shoot.

While you type that from a computer or phone that almost all of it was made overseas. I can name countless firearms and accessories that are foreign made or use foreign made components, but I do not see the same zealousness to advocate boycotting those products. In fact its kind of part of my job to ensure that certain parts assemblies and products are domestically sourced due to nat security. There are some things we buy from china becuase they are the only source in the world for it, and we scrutinize every step along the way to mitigate any issues. The choice is buy it or mission failure.

The point is when you have a choice you should buy American. People not knowing and making a willfull choice arent the same thing. Lots of compaines in this industry push cheap imorteted junk and dont exactly advertise it. Anything from lower parts componets to electronics to hard parts.

This hijack has zero to do with the thread. Go to the bear pit or something. But while you're at it, get rid of any overseas made shooting gear you have (including anything made by LOW). Hell if you have a NF with made in Japan on it or a Razor Gen 2 send it my way. Or even a Schmidt with Made in Germany.

Back to the OP. I've been interested in these bags but the website is very sparse on the details and there are a lack of reviews. Overall what's your impression.

It is oriented scope up in this picture. But you can arrange the interior any way you please. So far I've only carried it as you see. Honestly the only other thing I might add would be mags and a pistol or two so not much different. I haven't been able to get to the range yet so only toted it short distance around the house.

I won a Urban Warfare 55". Haven't used it much yet but it looks and feels like a very high quality and well though-out bag. The 55" is perfect for 26" barrels. With any bag you have to use it for a while to really know how good/bad they are.

I just ordered the 46" from Amazon at a great price. I have a Voodoo to compare it to, the Voodoo was twice the cost and not a bad bag. We'll see how they compare when it gets here.

I don't have experience with Voodoo bags but if the bags are the same quality as their ammo folders than Savior is going to be much better.

I have one of their double cases and got it in Multicam as the nylon was 1000 denier rather than 600 (not like that's much of a diff) but it also had better zippers (YKK) and thicker padding.

I see that this LRP bag is 600 but does use YKK zippers. Zippers seems to have been a prior soft spot in their product.

I REALLY am happy with this bag, its layout, and construction and would buy Savior again.

As for the price and made in China...is there ANY product of this type still made in the USA? And wow, if this thing in a long case is $199, what would a made in USA bag cost.

Again, I'm very happy with my Savior product.

Oh, I have no basis to dispute this, but where/why do you believe that its only the slider that is YKK? Savior just says YKK zippers.

I have not had any issues with my zippers....so far.

Absolutely. My deer gun (Rem 5R SS Gen 2) is right at 42" with a brake on a 20" and fits perfectly in the 46" bag. Between padding and just plain needing a bit of room to insert/remove the gun, any shorter length bag will not accomodate it.

Amazon will make it right for you...just a bit of a PIA, yeah?

One thing to keep in mind with backpack rifle bags: when carrying backpack-style, the top invariably hits any doorframe you pass under. My experience with my crappy (now unused) Explorer case that looks similar to the Savior: hitting the door frames on my house, in the 25, 50, and 100 yd range buildings or stooping down like an idiot and still hitting the door frame only 50% of the time. This really sucks and forces one to “dismount” awkwardly right in the doorway area and sort of defeats the purpose of ease of carry.

This applies to any case of this type, really, country of manufacturer agnostic.

And, if you don’t carry it backpack style, it also defeats the reason for the carrying capacity of the pack (i.e. lots and lots). You murder your shoulder by loading one big case super heavy with all of your stuff and stagger from car to range building like a drunken sailor.

I’ve found that it’s easier to have a slim case for the rifle/ammo/mags slung horizontally over one shoulder while wearing a backpack containing everything else.

One trip, no dismount until I reach the range bench.

edit: see my next post. Savior looks like they make their backpack bags differently, although I still prefer two lighter bags to one heavy bag.
