Rifle Scopes Scopes with high clarity at high magnification

Looking for names/models that are know for high clarity at higher magnifications (>30x)

I have a Meuller 8-32 x 44 scope. It has great clarity at lower magnification. Once you get to about 20x-24x you start to get blurry. I was looking at paper target at 300 yards using 32x magnification. I could not see the 223 holes in shoot n see targets. I'm guessing it has more to do with clarity than the magnification. Which brings me here...are there scopes out there that have great clarity throughout the range of magnification?

Do you need to spend 3k to get what I'm after?

I can easily see bullet holes with my Steiner at 300 on 25 power. Then again it's a 3 k scope.
You might try a sightron.

I can say exactly what people above are saying: Steiner, Schmidt, Nightforce ATACR, USO, etc.

But I would look into a Nightforce NXS. They have always been surprisingly clear at 22 power and will only put you out about $1,300-1,600 for a used one depending on the features you want. If that's still above your budget then look at Sightron SIII, Vortex PST Gen II, or perhaps a Bushnell DMR.

You get what you pay for with scopes.

Just about any scope over 2k will be clear at its highest magnifaction.

Around 20 isn't all the bad. Up near 25 gets a little hazzy still, but that could because I'm running it next to a Kahles.

No you don’t have to spend $3k.

Youd probably do pretty well at around $1000-1200 with a Razor Gen I or an SWFA 5-20.

A Sightron SIII is what you seek. A HUGE step up from a mueller. I've resolved .308 holes at 300yds in a paper target (not shoot-n-see, just paper) with a 6-24x50. Amazing glass and they can be had from 600ish up to just over 1000$ depending on the magnification that you choose.

Not a lot of frills. Not a true tactical scope, but damn if they don't resolve very well.

Zeiss HD5s are really clear on the high end, but are very hunting-oriented. Impressed with the Cronus as well, the Razor II, and the ZP5.

Take this for what it's worth. I just bought my first high end scope, a K624i with SKMR3. I upgraded from a Gen 1 PST 6-24. I was feeling that past 500 yards things got blurry and it was hard for me to get repeatable shots.

I was so impressed with the Kahles on this last range trip. It was clear as I could want. I was watching my own bullet trace from a 6.5 CM out to 509, and was able to make repeatable impacts on steel because of it. It was the best day I have had behind that rifle. I could easily see bullet holes. When sighting it in from 25 to 100 yards. Then we jumped to 509. I was a little discouraged at first because it was a little blurry, but then I realized it was the mirage coming from the ground, and figured any scope would have that problem. Once we got off the ground for the 509 shots, it was gone and I was happy again.

Thanks...I'm not in a position to spend big bucks right now, but I will be saving for one. I really like the idea of high magnification and clearly seeing the target at 300 yards.

Scopes are a funny thing.....we never realize how good or bad we have it until we look at something else. If you're running a S&B/NF/Kahles/TT, most others look bad. If you're running a Millet/ Mueller etc. most others look good.

I will say, any tier 1 scope, adjusted correctly, parallax set, should allow you to see bullet holes to at least 200 yds. I don't recommend looking through the high end stuff until you're ready to shoo seriously. The reason is, it will make any lesser scope look like crap. You'll just covet.

Gen ii razors are extremely clear at the top (27x). For a less expensive option, the NXS series holds its weight, although SFP...

I personally own a razor gen 1 5-20x50 and it is clear at max magnification. Where i shoot i am always battling mirage at max mag though. I did have the opportunity to look through a NF atacr 7-35 with the mil r reticle this weekend at targets to 1k and i was impressed with the scope. Nice clear glass.

I haven't played with a Gen II, but Gen I's had shitty resolution at the top end.

I was shooting a Grendel yesterday at 650 and 900 yards topped with a Gen II PST 5-25. The glass is right there with most of the other $1000 to $1200 scopes. But I have to say, the turrets on this scope feel like a bigger version of the Gen I. They turn to easy and have a crappy, clicky feel to them. They just don't feel solid.

I've looked through a handful of them now, it's the first time I've played with the turrets. They are a slight improvement over the Gen I, but not by much.

The reticle however, is fantastic. Vortex makes some great reticles.

For the money dont think you can beat sightron, used lots of choices gen 1 razor etc
High end i love my kahles, your mileage may vary

My Mueller 4-14 is the same way, starts getting blurry around 10. So I just assume it's a 4-10x $130 scope, still able to take head shots on squirrel, still serves its purpose for the money. Depends on what your purpose is, I have a few high end scopes, but for $130 I don't complain and don't try to use it at 14x or see bullet holes at 200.

I use one for Fclass. We typically have bad mirage all year and using the 35mm objective cap it cuts through nicely, and I usually run 45X in all conditions. It is better than my previous SIII, which is an excellent scope for the money.

Amazing glass comes with a price, you get into the 2K range your going to be getting some very good glass.

Nightforce NXS are under the 2k range and they offer great glass also.
