Seekins HAVAK Precision Rifle

Didn't love the green and stainless look so off to cerakote it went. I think it turned out pretty sharp. Targets are in my range bag, can post tmrw.

What is the thread pitch on the Havak action? Does anyone know. I know they mentioned having pre-fits at some point in the future.
1-1/16 x 18 is what I was told.
We have prefits coming for them. The blanks are here, I'm just awaiting the first batch of barrel nuts.
I went into Cabela's today with gift cards ready to buy one...and was disappointed.
I actually went to two different ones, both with rifles, and both felt rough. Even the sales associates mentioned they weren't impressed. I've seen people mention that they smoothen out, and do believe that will happen with cycling. However I've been handling my Bighorn recently, and they had a Proof rifle with [not broken in] Bighorn action and it was night and day difference with Seekins. And it took me a while to warm up to the Bighorn as it doesn't feel the smoothest to me.
Another thing that bothered me was bolt close. Seemed very heavy to get it to cam over, even with an empty chamber. The Bighorn by contrast dropped easily.
I hate to say it as I hold Seekins in high regard, but I preferred even the Christensen actions they had in stock. I may look a little harder at the MPR if they get one in.

A buddy of mine got one and, yes it was slightly rough but cycling it a bunch with some lube, it smoothed out some. I have a Stiller TAC30 and it's smoother but I have a few hundred rounds through it. I do agree the cam could be less tight, especially since it's supposed to take out the jolt when engaging and dis-engaging the bolt, but I didn't see much of a difference. I do also wonder why the recoil lug is short and tapered as much as it is. I do like the design and it's a beefy action.
I just purchased a 30% off code from a fellow SH member and am looking @ Seekins, looks like some great options!
I've played with 5 or 6 new Seekins rifles now. Including the ones at Shot. I haven't experienced an action I would call rough.
The one I played with at Cabelas that was bone dry, and you could tell. But the roughest custom action I have felt still to date was my long action Defiance Deviant. I was very disappointed with it out of the box. It smoothed out quickly though.

I don't understand all the bitching about an action being rough, since when did a rough action cause someone to miss their target? Is the smoothness of the action the only factor that determines quality or value? I've had actions that are super smooth yet still shot like shit, my DTA action is not anywhere close to smooth, yet it shoots 1/4" groups with two different barrels / calibers.

We are so fortunate to have innovative, quality companies that continue to push the envelope in all aspects, quality, features, price, etc. Look at what Seekins is offering in the Havak package: a custom action, magazine fed bottom metal, quality barrel, and quality stock, all for 2000.00. In most other circumstances those same features would cost you double that or more, yet we bitch about the way the action feels without ever firing a shot. It reminds me of the pussies that bitch about the color of their FDE hand grip not being the same shade of FDE as their stock.

Don't forget it's also a world where everyone can afford $1400 Manners stocks, $3000 European scopes, and wear Arcteryx pants to play weekend warrior as if they're all tier 1 tip of the spear spec ops super champions. It's about looking the part, like having a luxury car, they want finesse, not pure performance. Firearms have become a lifestyle accessory, evidenced by the plethora of fancy cerakote patterns and color combos. Personally I'll pass on the superficial customization and use the savings for more brass, powder and primers.
PSA - The Havak SA will not fit into a XLR Element Rem 700 SA due to the wider rear tang. I got in contact with XLR and they told me to send the chassis in to have the rear pocket opened up. The footprint may be more like a TL3 with large tang... Anyone else confirm or deny fitment on some of the other chassis/stock options?

I remember seeing the 28 was throated for 180's specifically, it was not throated for the 195's or Id be in there with you. I think I saw it on the longrangehunting forum thread about the the Havak?
I got to play around with my boss's 6.5 PRC Havak. Action was rough like most have said when he first got it. I cycled it about 100 times and it fully smoothed up. It runs pretty smooth now. The bedding on the rifle was better than I expected for the price point. I figured it would be just cheaply thrown together, but it was pretty nice. I can't speak for accuracy on it at 100yds. He had some copper creek and hornady match. He shoots about 1" no matter the rifle at 100yds and I didn't get time behind it on paper. I only had it on a hostage flapper at 700yds and it did the job 5/5. Overall, great rifle at the price point and not too heavy.
I just got a HAVAK Pro HP1 that is sitting in DROS jail right now but I did handle it. I've had a rifle with the Magpul stock before so that is nothing new but the barrel is a beast. It's quite a bit thicker than the Hunter. I'll post photos once I get it.
I'm curious about the pics. yes please, post when obtained. I've been very curious about this rifle as well as I have never held one, only able to read up on it.
Has anybody dropped one of these in a new KRG Bravo chassis? What kind of accuracy are you seeing in 6.5 CM shooting the factory hornady eldm 140's? I'm looking to purchase and wanting to drop one in the bravo chassis. any thoughts of using this as a PRS style shooting rifle or just save up and have a smith build a custom rifle?

You got a link for the Havak with the Bravo? I see the one in the Magpul and Game Warden, but no KRG Bravo.
There isn't another option. The Havak Pro Hunter PH1 comes with a Carbon Fiber hunting stock (used to be a McMillan hunter). The Havak Pro HP1 comes with a Magpul 700. There is no KRG option. The action is the same on both of them however the barrels are different. The HP1 has a heavier barrel than the PH1.
Well you can sell the Magpul and get a KRG. At the price it's selling for, it's a steal IMO. I'll have my HP1 next week and I'll be swapping the stock out with an Iota Kremlin.
I think that’s what I’ll do is sell the 700 and buy the bravo. Give us an update and post a few pics. I’m still pondering my options. Did u go 6.5 or 308?
I got 6.5CM. I'm still waiting on my Seekins DBM but I'll get photos up when I get it. My buddies Havak PH1 is the one in the photos I posted. He swapped out the hunting stock for the Grayboe. It's a really nice for the money. The HP1 barrel is much heavier, it's a beast. Not quite MTU but close. I'll put some calipers on it when I get it since Seekins doesn't list those specs.

Yeah sorry, just last week I was dropping a Rem 5R into a bravo chassis and also buying a new Havak off here and got them confused.
I got one of the original Havaks with the McMillan stock which is what I was looking for.
Ok, I received my HAVAK PRO HP1 last night. It's nice. Many have commented on the action and that it's rough. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's rough but I wish they would have polished all of the connection points where the bolt slides. Those areas are not smooth but have the bead blasted look and feel like the rest of the action and barrel.
The bolt is nice but they put a cam in the handle so you don't get the bump when rotating, ehh... I don't think it works as well as they say, it's still tight and has a slight "bump". I compared it to my Stiller TAC 30 and it's not as smooth however, my Stiller has around 500 rounds through it.
I think it's nice but if you were contemplating on purchasing the action separately, for $1200 I'd look at others first, Defiance, AI, Stiller, Big Horn, etc.
The barrel is a Rock Creek barrel. Seekins say they profile them but they don't give dimensions or tell you what the contour is so I have a feeling it's a "non-standard" contour. See photos for dimensions that I took. Sorry they aren't the best and so dark. I'll take better photos once I get someone to hold the camera.
Overall, for the price, I think it's a good buy, better than many other "off-the-shelf" rifles. However, I haven't played with a Tikka T3x or Bergera.

I appreciate the review. Let us know how she shoots and what kind of ammo you feed it. What kind of stock do you think you’ll replace it with?
It really not a review just an overview of my thoughts after an hour with it. For the money, it's well made and well machined. The tolerances seem tight. Like I mentioned for the price of the rifle the Havak is a really good buy.
I have an Iota Kremlin which is CF and poly fill. I wanted to try it out as the comb is higher than my Grayboe so I won't need a cheek riser.
As for ammo, I currently shoot Hornady ELD Match 140. I will also be shooting hand loads as well in the near future.
I guess you’re right, appreciate the first impressions. As for ammo, I’m still a factory Hornady shooter. I’ll be anxiously awaiting some groups and better pics in the near future. Again, appreciate it and this looks like a purchase in the near future.
