I've had the rest. I now have the best... (of FALs that is).

DSA builds a wicked one.

Re: Shankster's Semi-Auto .308 Rifle Of Choice.

My DSA experience was not a good one. It would not extract milsurp ammo consistently, but I'm sure it was because at the time (2003) they were using US sourced barrels for the 16" models instead of Steyr leftovers like the 21" guns.

I got one,

17in med. contour
SS lower
speed trigger and a whole bunch of other goodies, topped it with an aimpoint and gave it hell. It is definitly a well built weapon, I would absolutely buy at least one more and the guys at DS Arms are good people

I have one of the old ban period 16.25" barrels with the machined on muzzle brake and the full length piston. Nice and short.

Hey Shankster *Love* your avatar!

I have a DSA Para carbine with ALL the extras; speed-trigger, NP3 coated internals, factory dura-coat camo, full quad rail, tritium irons, etc, etc.

It is OK - but it is NOT my favorite. In fact, I am rather disappointed as it jams regularly (brass bounces off the scope rail because it needs more internal bevel, and gets caught by the bolt), accuracy SUCKS, and it is heavy and poorly balanced because of the quad rail.

I have a Springfield SOCOM 16 that is lighter, more accurate and 100% reliable. I spent a lot of money on my DSA rifles. They are the best FAL's on the market, but they are not the best design IMHO. If you want an FAL, get a standard rifle with a fixed stock. The spring geometry is totally different for the para's and is not as reliable.

If you want to read more about the issue I had, and see some pics, go on over to: http://www.falfiles.com/ look in the "DSA" forum and search on "why does this happen" or you could also search on my screen name (it is the same there - i8mtm).

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
