Shooting and spotting tripod options, which would you prefer and why?

I've got 2 190cxpro3's(q90) with RC2 heads. One I use with either the HOG or the LaRue qd connector and the other to hold the spotter. The LaRue qd for rifles that have a bottom rail that extends to the lower receiver and the hog for rifles without the rail.

I just like the ease of attachment with the larue and hog with both being as solid as I will ever need.

I run an Alamo Four Star DCLW head on a Manfrotto 055XPROB. Works like a champ and you never have to worry about your rifle coming out and hitting the deck.

So with this set up you would have to mount a rail to the rifle and to the spotter correct? If so what do you use for a rail to make the connection to these objects?

I was leaning toward the RC2 for the simple fact that I already use the QD mounts. It would seem though that I would be spending more money for the RC2 and HOG saddle then the DCLW and a few rails.

And I guess if I wanted to save some $ and have the best of both worlds I could always get a rail for my rifle and add a DLOC-M DLOC-M and pass on the HOG saddle.

That's what I did. I can switch from my spotter to mounting the gun just by adding the dloc-m. It's quick and cuts down on weight.

The DCLW head on my Manny is for my duty rifle on callouts. Yes, the rifle has a rail at the 6 o clock position counter sunk and bedded into the McMillan A5. Inside the barrel channel is another alum bedding block countersunk into the stock, so the rail has something else to anchor to.

The spotter has its own tripod, and since it rarely if ever comes out on anything other than a one way range, its a non issue.
