Sorry I was judging by my puny 308,
If you're ever on this side you'll have to try Spokane Valley Rifle & Pistol Club, they have steel to 1000 and I've seen 50's out there so your 300WM would be fine.

I've kayaked around that island before. Very cool place. Even if that place was given to me i couldn't afford the property taxes alone. That place has been for sale for a while, and i think Paul is going to be sitting on that chunk of land for years to come.

Yeah. And even if you could you'd still have to deal with the lib PD here. They'd have a cow if they heard gun shots there. & some retired lib in Sky Line would certainly complain.

Yeah the Spokane rifle and pistol club is pretty awesome. Also known as the mead range. I think it actually have a gong at 1260 even though they advertise it as a 1000 yard range!

It would be cool to mark off some 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 sticks with some contractors tape ...... on some state land. I doubt anyone would bother to mess with the sticks once they are up.

JLR is right on the money. Having put up miles of timber harvest unit boundaries, road construction centerlines, and assorted survey stakes, if it can be moved, torn down, relocated, or otherwise tampered with, it will be. Unfortunately that's today's world.

I've had 3 steel plates set-up on public land for 2.5 years now. They are clearly visible from a very well traveled road, and painted white. The only marks on them are from my bullets. Maybe I'm just lucky.
I think the trick is to put them where people don't look or where the fat, stupid masses won't go.
From my door, it takes me 20 min to get there and start shooting.

I not talking about putting up targets and leaving them out. You're right .... they'd quickly get took.
I mean laze off the yardages and either tie some little orange flags to sticks or little 1x1's or use some orange paint and paint some x's on some stumps or trees. That way, there's a nice marked off range semi permanent. All you have to do it drop off your targets and go back to whichever yard line you want to shoot from .... or vice versa.
Then, when your done, drive down and pick up your targets and there's really nothing left behind to steal.

If you're going to do that, then your best bet is the marking paint, although you'll be out there a few times a year refreshing. The flagging and lath will get removed by deer and other critters...trust me, I've been surveying for the last 15yrs and for some reason deer love flagging.??

Guys a question, for those that made the change from SFP to FFP did the reticle changing size bother you? Is it something that you got used to quickly and you quickly ignored it, or does it still bothersome to some. Going to buy some new glass, not sure if I'm a ffp sort of guy.

DO IT! For tactical shooting, ranging unknown distances, and hold-overs, FFP is the way to go,... If you're shooting groups where you need/want just a sliver of a cross-hair to hold extremely tight points of aim, then an SFP can't be beat. FFP's do take some getting used to though. The biggest thing I had to get used to was that it's "OK" to adjust your magnification to suit your distances - not so with an SFP if you want to utilize your MilDot/TMR reticule for holdovers,... not if you want them to be accurate,... It took a while to realize I could dial down my magnification to say 10x to find targets that got lost in the sea of shrubbery on a hillside and still utilize my reticule to hold-over and shoot,... or I could find the target on low power, crank it up to a comfortable magnification and still utilize my hold-overs to shoot,... Give it a shot,... I think you'll be happy once you've played with it. Just MAKE SURE that you get matching RETICULE/ADJUSTMENTS,... i.e. MIL/MIL or MOA/MOA,... don't be buyin' some POS MIL/MOA scope

Not sure how much of an advantage FFP is. In the last 5-6 years of competing, the only time we have turned our scopes down to a lower power was for some 75yd and under shots. They have pretty much stayed on max power the rest of the time. Guess there could be some times when its needed, like on movers, but even then the math for me isn't that hard to remember vs. the extra cost of FFP scopes. But I am still a MOA guy, so what the hell do I know!

Guess there could be some times when its needed, like on movers, but even then the math for me isn't that hard to remember vs. the extra cost of FFP scopes. But I am still a MOA guy, so what the hell do I know!

Marty I just took off my FFP Vortex 6-24 yesterday to get my barreled action ready to go over to Travis at RBROS to get threaded and braked.
If you want to hook up sometime to give it a try and see how you like it let me know
As for the Feb. match for me it depends on how quick Travis gets her done.

The 3 top shooters in the PNW shoot SFP.
The monthly match has been moved to 2-12-12 so the guys that like to watch guys in tights can do so on 2-5-12.

Have any of your guys been over to this site? I've seen a bunch of people from WA in there. But, for the most part looks like the site was started in Oregon since most of the sponsors are from Oregon.
