Sig 3000BDX help

I have a Sig 3000BDX i bought a few years ago that i havnt really used till lately. Ive had the same old Khestral from about 12 years ago and am upgrading to the AB elite model soon. My question is, will i be able to run AB on the SIG without fooling with my phone app. I mean switching gun profiles being used on the Sig, True the Dope etc..?

I run that exact combination. The Kestrel Elite will link directly to the Sig 3000bdx and all changes in profiles, etc. will be done from the Kestrel. No phone will be used. I have found it is easier to make the profile the first time and send it to the kestrel, but any changes after that are done on the kestrel and synced back to the phone.

Are you asking if you can input data into the binos without using a phone or kestrel? If so, no. To get the onboard AB to work, you have to sync a profile from the Sig app. The profile on the Sig app is also where you would put in environmentals, then sync them to the binos. Essentially once the profile is loaded, all the binos can do is output DOPE based on the profile and environmental conditions you loaded onto it. With a kestrel, the binos Bluetooth the range and angle to the kestrel then the kestrel sends the solution for that range and angle back to the binos and it displays in the screen

Don’t forget to input the DoF into the kestrel to have the right windage solution. The 3000 bdx will only send distance and angle, since it has no compass onboard

Honestly, personally, I find the kestrel compass not the most accurate for properly determining the direction even with the kestrel properly propped up on the wind vane and even recalibrating it it’s still always a bit off that I I prefer entering the windage manually on the kestrel when it’s connected to my BDX 3000. It’s fine for “good enough” but if I want to make an accurate cold bore shot past 500 yards I use the current windage at my position and then look through the scope at the mirage and other wind clues and then put my estimation of wind speed and direction in the kestrel.

I’m sure in a couple of years we’ll have a real ranger finder that will give us the windage calculation through the laser beam disturbance but it’s not there yet for poor civilians.

I was trying to get out of the house this morning when i fire of the post so it wasnt well written however i think my question is mostly answered.
I have the app yes but what I was trying to convey was can i primarily get a firing solution with just my khestral and binos without being dependent on the phone app basically. for example my understanding is I have to initially create the base line profile and and sync the binos and app initally but can carry the rest of the functionality with the khestral like Truing dope, wind etc..? or can I sync bullit profiles and everything else i need to fully exploit the systems functionality without adding a third devise I.E my phone into the matrix?

I dont have a strong feeling about the binos giving me a wind solution necessarily but a precise trued Bullitt drop solution is what im really concerned with. i just have a strong aversion to running a system in the field where my phone is the key piece to tying it all together. I still use map compass and GPS in the backcountry and just cannot get on board with this cool phone app stuff, I mean i still use the same garmin etrex I hade when i was an 0311 in the Iraq invasion for christe sake. So anyways ive got a dated technology approach to be criticized for so anyways.

You don’t have to have your phone open.

You need to put the BDX 3000 in applied ballistic mode (ABX) and connect via Bluetooth to the kestrel and not your phone.

when you pair the kestrel with the bdx, with the bino in abx mode, all the job is made on the kestrel. the kestrel has its compass, not the best in the world but there it is. the bino does not have a compass so when you hit the range button it sends distance and angle from shooter to target, but not the direction of fire. the applied ballistic engine on the kestrel needs you to enter the direction of fire of the actual target to give you the right windage solution
