I'm thinking of getting a 6x24 50 SIII for my 260. I'm worried the target dot might be a little big on a target bullseye. Any one have one of these that can give me an opinion? Thanks much..

Re: Sightron target dot reticle

I have that exact scope, it is not too big at all. Not even close. It also helps to center your point of aim if you are shooting at a round (bullseye) target.

I also have one of these. I really like it when it is bright out, but I have trouble with it in lower light. This could be my old eyes. I have had it on two different rifles with around 750 rounds under it. No troubles.

The dot on these is not big at all. I have a Mil-dot 6-24 and the cross hairs on it are thicker than the dot. One of my shooting buddies has the target dot and if I didnt need to range with my scope everyonce and a while I would prefer the target dot for bulls-eye shooting.

Re: Sightron target dot reticle

I have a sightron II big sky edition with target dot, and I was worried about the size of the dot prior to my purchase. Now that I have it, I love it. It is not too big. I think you would find that you would like it. IMO.

Re: Sightron target dot reticle

If you look at the Sightron catalog, the dot on 6 power, covers 1". When on 24 power, the dot covers 1/4". Both of these values are what the dot covers at 100 yards. I picked up a SIII, target dot, 8-32 for my 5R a few weeks ago and love it. It's perfect for target shooting in my opinion. The 6-24 would be a great choice as well. The glass is very clear and bright. The knobs are audible and track perfectly.

Re: Sightron target dot reticle

Thanks much for all the replys. I'm not sure if I will get the 6x24 or the 8x32. The 8x32 also can be had with an 1/8 dot.

Re: Sightron target dot reticle

I have an 1/8 dot on my 6br and its a bit small for field use or in less than good conditions,it can blend in on black painted steel targets in lower light.
