Was wanting to run longer 80+gr bullets in my M4. Seeing as how you can't get those DPMS LRP/VLD mags or Snick Mags, I was thinking of getting a single stack mag, taking advantage of the groove at the rear of the mag, and taking out material from the front of the mag allowing the bullet tip to move up that center groove found in some mag wells. This should allow for 2.45 OAL give or take.

Problem is I can find single stack ar15 mags! Anyone have a source for any of the aforementioned mags or a workaround?

I could have sworn I saw a mag in which you could center the cartridge and utilize that 'nook' in the back for extra OAL, but that may have just been a mag with single shot follower. I'll have to just seat them back a little more and take mill out the front.

thanks

They were specifically for long-loaded Sierra 80 Match Kings, but required a new bolt catch that functioned only with the single-stack mag -- you couldn't use it with GI mags and mag-length cartridges.

would be hard to make. Make two inserts from delrin that take up the excess space on either side of your cartridge and adapt it to utilize a spring and follower from say the FN 5.7 pistol conversion kit that comes with a spring and bottom for the 30rnd pistol mags. Should work as long as your willing to fiddle with it.
