Stopped by USO today and got a peek at the 1-8x, WOW I can't wait for it to go into production. True one power, red dot and everything. Thought you guys might like to see a couple of cell phone pics I took. Not the best pics but better than an artist rendering I guess.

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

Julio, originally four but this is the only one left as the others are visiting with interested parties. They were loading this one up to put her through her paces at the range. This thing has a ton of travel I bet.

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

My guess would,be 3,200 or so. You,won't find better made glass but this falls under the you get for type deal. I sold my s&b short dot 1-4x for a us optics which served me better. The short dot is IMO opinion the ultimate in shooting under 600 with the 4x short short dot and Imwould be the 8x short dot would easily shoot out to 800.

Wow--that would cut into 1-4 SD sales quite efficiently...

I'm pretty sure technology and progress are going to make any 1-4x pretty much irrelevant here very soon.
You have to remember that there are some pretty nice 1-6x scopes coming up for sale within the next few months that will be in the 1-1.5k range.
A high quality 1-8x in the 2-2.5k price range would be awesome and I suspect do very well in the market place.

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

I am interested in the Bushnell 1-6 new tactical scopes. Anyone paw up one of these. Would love the above mentioned scopes but might be too rich for my blood.

Leupold's Mk 6 1-6 at $1950 is going to decimate the 1-4SD and Swaro 1-6 6Zi, and might even impact sales of the 1-8s in the +$3.5K price range IMHO.

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

I'm interested to hear about which reticle options will be available in this model?

Also how much it weighs? That will play more a role in comparison to the swfa than the 2x extra magnification.

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

Congratulations to USO for developing this product and for putting it up at a reasonable price. I'm loving my 1.8-10x too much to buy one (right now), but look forward to seeing more specs on it (weight, range reports, reticle options, etc).

That is just music to my ears ... the 1.8-10 is one of my favorite scopes ... this thing is gonna be ever better!

WOW! Can't wait to see it. I have two LMT .308 MWS' that are currently wearing ACOG's standing by if you can bring it to market under $2,500. I have lost interest in other offerings that are up to $3,500+

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

Hey guys, thought it might be fun to share what you think would be your reticle of choice for this new scope. Since they are still working with it who knows maybe we can move them in a certain direction.

Just post the reticle or type of reticle you would personally want for either hunting, three gun, or tactical use.

for the reticle on 8x (or something like it), would be sweet, illuminated of course. A standard Eotech/Aimpoint type dot for 1x

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

+1 on the Gen2 XR (or something similar), with a horseshoe feature or SFP dot for 1x. Would give you the same features as the IOR 1-10x or Leupold CQBSS w/ H27D.

What does this scope weigh?

Thanks to the OP for the sneak peak, USO's got another winner on their hands.

Re: Sneak Peak USO 1-8x

Any chance at a reticle pic on 1x and 8x with illum on for both? Interested in seeing how the red dot feature in the eyepiece looks at 8x with Illum on.

The Red Dot is intended to be used at 1x for CQB and other short-range targets. I dont believe there will be an option to have both the Dot and Reticle turned on at the same time. It will be one or the other.

Thats what I was hoping for ... will it have a seperate ON/OFF button on the illum control? The eye relief numbers that have been "rumored" are OUTSTANDING ...

would still like to see the reticle they have in the prototypes.

Looking forward to this scope ....

I think John already answered that. 1 Rheostat to do it all. I believe it will be 1 power button. ON-ON-OFF (DOT, RETICLE, OFF). Both will not be lit at the same time.

Very interested in hearing more. I'm doing a big match in July that has me humping 30+ miles with my carbine and I would love to save some weight, if this 1-8 is lighter than their 1.8-10x...

That sounds like fun... what match is it?

I hope it's lighter. The 1.8-10x44 is 30oz, hopefully this is around the 20-22oz.

The link above shows it next to the 1-4x, which is the same size as the 1.5-6x. Looks slightly longer though, and the internals are probably heavier. It will not be lighter than those two scopes, which are 22 oz. I would guess it to be in the 24-26 oz. range like other companies 1-8x scopes.

Re: Sneak Peek USO 1-8x

Man I'm wishing I'd waited when I bought my 1-4 NXS or that they'd have produced a 1-6x. I would love to check this glass out along with some of these other manufacturers that are producing a 1-6x or 1-8x.
Hmmm may have to consider selling my NXS.
