Yes there is,... nightly entertainment.
If you think Ghetto an out of the box, it's very easy to have it target it's self, the local substation or main facility.
Remember it is lawful to drive nails with a 22 or 27 caliber power hammer, an the 22 caliber yellow or red loads will throw a nail a long way. Who's to say you did not have an accident an it went off at the wrong time or angle.

The proper way to hose it, is electronic feed back. Radio shack can supply everything you need, or you can rob parts from a tube type Am/Fm Radio, and add a 12" speaker, ripped from a low rider. You know the kind, the ones with the little doggie in the back window.
It's a brave new world, dick-em back. </div></div>

And you don't see it as disturbing to post ways to defeat something like this for the whole world to read?
That is assuming you have any idea what it would take to get around the system.
It's a little creepy. What's next telling everyone how to use a loop hole just in case they need it?
Not everyone has good intentions, maybe people should keep that in mind before they start posting paranoid, end of the world, might have to turn on the government physco talk. Just sayin.

Exactly- what is the genuine risk of sniper fire in the US???? Is there any sniper fire at all??!!! What a waste of cash. </div></div>

Would it have been a waste when that nutt job in D.C. was shooting people? I don't know? That is if it actually works. Those victims may not think so.

Re: Sniper Detectors Coming to America's Heartland

Yeah, well I would like for criminals and physco's to think, if the government installs them, there is no way to beat them, call me crazy. Maybe that is all it will take to keep SOME of these guys from carrying out their stupid ideas to shoot at unarmed people for no appearant reason. Or we could just post on the internet for the whole world to read, how easy they are defeat. Seems irresponsible to me. Thats just me though.

Re: Sniper Detectors Coming to America's Heartland

Glad to see a, "Uncle always knows best on here". Puts those of us who don't know how to put a plate in our lower lip in our place. For every action there is a reaction. For your info (you not being privy, to the real reason they are being fielded) this is part of a long range plan, to control, (you understand that word correct?) the population down the road.
You might trade your freedom for what ever. I left blood on 3 different continents defending same, and don't take giving up what I fought for lightly. Many hard working, tax paying folks are being fucked over by this an other items some Jack-off whats to justify under the banner of public saftey.
You want public safety, I can give you that very quickly, but my way will put many in the circle of "Fuck the public because of the dirt-bags rights" out of a job.
I'm all for 3 strikes an your ass is on a dismemberment table. Lord knows we have folks that could use a new Heart, Eyes, Liver, ect.
Save the bleeding heart shit for those who are so easily swayed they truly rely on Dial A Prayer, AKA 911.

I see you've been drinking from the government's punch bowl a bit heavily this holiday season.

Missed that, my bad. Just an FYI for you, Loophole data, how to make anything that can be used for good or bad has been on the normal net longer than I have. You want to find some good stuff, snoop on Russian an Korean sites. If you want the best of the best, get access to sites that don't exist on internet 1 or 2. The shit on the normal net, is so dated it's not funny. Then again I believe everyone needs to know how to build a Hyperbaric weapon in their kitchen or garage, but that's just me.
If Uncle can't control his information, you except me to keep secret,... shit,... that's older than dirt? My wavers expired long ago, an it's took this long for me to understand who/what the true enemy of freedom really is. Besides there is a repressed lost soul somewhere that screams to be free, I'm just hooking a freedom loving brother up.

This technology has been in place in a number of bay area cities in California for almost 20 years. It started in East Palo Alto when the city had the highest murder rate in the U.S. They found it doesn't work very well on Independence Day or New Years Eve.

This technology was on display at the NDIA SO/LIC show and at DARPATECH, both in 2002. A buddy of mine who was in 5th Group and later taught at the SF schoolhouse at Ft. Bragg was involved in some of the testing for DARPA. Early systems were for DFing snipers in non-urban terrain so you could drop something heavy on them. It worked very well.

I talked to the DARPA PM at the time and he said the echoes in an urban area were an issue. Maybe they solved it with additional processing power? The sound 'receiver' at the time was a strange hedgehog looking thing. It wasn't multiple mics separated by distance which would have helped. Hedgehog made it easily portable or vehicle mounted. But was a goofy arrangement of mics.

Not sure how useful it would be isolating gunfire in an urban area where you can't call in an artillery strike... and w. drive-by's, forget it. Also, 'DC sniper' aside, urban sniping isn't a major LE issue. So IMHO, money would be a lot better spent elsewhere.

Maybe the PR value and deterrence are part of it... but IMHO, there are better and cheaper ways of deterring dirtbags.

If those things are your gateway to freedom you have set yourself up for disappointment. Lasting change will not come about by a paranoid guy building Hyperbaric weapons in his kitchen.

It's not about a gateway, it's about being free to openly exchange info, on the wasting of tax dollars. Or using a technology the Russians invented, we perfected an used, to kill 2000 + - troops at once.

There is nothing wrong with expressing your opinion on how your country spends its tax dollars. It seemed like you were saying something very different in your previous post.

It may be a waste of money, it may not be. If it stops only half of the pyscos then good. I think a person could make a good argument for both sides. Not everyone who would, or may want to beat them, will have freedom on their mind. There are people like the d.c. Sniper out there who are cool with shooting unarmed women while they pump gas. So lets do our part to provide them with ANY kind of advantage. Makes sense to me. And just because there is all kinds of info on the net for people like that, isn't a good reason to contribute. Just my opinion.

Re: Sniper Detectors Coming to America's Heartland

Weren't M-60 firecrackers designed to simulate the sound of a 30-06 round being fired for military training purposes? What about home theater systems with high-end speakers that are capable of reproducing sounds with incredible clarity and volume? Cars backfiring?

Waste of taxpayer dollars. Folks living in those areas need to determine how many homicides are prevented or solved due to the system. If the systems prove to be useless (which is a 100% surety), the city/municipality should be sued to remove them and for misappropriation of funds. A few hundred councilmen, mayors, and police chiefs sitting in court on national TV facing criminal charges might discourage this kind of shit for a while.

Anyone with any common sense knows these aren't there to keep tabs on gang violence. Cops on the street know <span style="font-style: italic">where</span> the gangbangers are and <span style="font-style: italic">who</span> they are...

Ok, I just put my tin foil hat on again. How about this scenario:
It's 2014 and somehow Obama/Holder have succeeded, by executive order of course, to get strict federal firearm laws in place. So, imagine the national police showing up at YOUR door - "Sir/maam we are going to search here, confiscate any firearms, and imprison you because our Sniper Spottter system detected shots fired here"...remember this is the administration that has well-established any lies or mistruths are acceptable if it accomplishes there objectives.

Oh wait, there isn't a national police? Just wait for a perversion of our current FBI and national guard. </div></div>

No national police? Even Dept. of Education secretaries have police powers and carry firearms. In your scenario, the FBI/ATF/local SWAT combine to crash in on you at 4 AM and just take your stuff. Executive order puts you away in Gitmo (that bill passed two weeks ago, truth).

For your edification:

The FBI was founded originally in 1908 as a Political Police force to stop unions, and opposing political thought by Roosevelt and Taft.... The ATF was developed to collect TAXES as an arm of the Treasury dept. Bill Clinton put it under the "Justice Dept." as an ATAS enforcement arm. The Obama is using it to subvert the constitution and rule of law as we speak.

How many people were killed by sniper fire in US in urban setting in last decade ~100? How many with automobiles? Why are we still selling automobiles? I propose an whole out ban on anything that moves faster than 10mph and has at least two wheels (skateboards/bicycles/rollers should require special federal permit)...

LOL!

On a serious note, with all of the demolition being done in the city right now. I am sure that the sensor would be set off. Sounds to me like a flawed concept...

Re: Sniper Detectors Coming to America's Heartland

we used these in Iraq called the Boomerang.

http://www.bbn.com/boomerang

We had some that where hooked up to a "crow" system which made it even more fun.

web-Boom_Static_Stand2009.jpg

we also used a dismount based one that looked similar to this:
warrior-x-torsolooking.jpg

What is listed on the web is the old generation, the newer stuff is really quite amazing.
