Ordered mine about an hour ago. Have a new Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 that I was using on my TRG-22 that has been great but I figured for the discount price the SS HD 5-20 is very hard to pass up.

SWFA posted that they had 7 in hand wondering what to do with them. Many of us offered to give them good homes.

No statement that they actually went out.

Not sure why they would hold on to them...afterall, they are not collecting any money from anyone until the scopes ship.

Keeping my fingers crossed the 2 I ordered within 5 minutes of the $500 discount going active are in my hands by the week of July 4th... I'm off that entire week and wouldn't mind having some new stuff to play with.

The second followup order placed last week I can wait longer for... but if those show up at the same time I wouldn't mind.

I feel a little risky (or stupid) diving in for 7 of these without ever looking through or using one but based on my experience with the 1-4HD (which far exceeded my expectations) and the reviews from JonA, JasonK, and LL I'm thinking I made a fairly safe bet.

And no, that quantity is not a typo. Scope upgrades for all but two rifles!

Glad everyone that got in on this deal did, I know it was great working with SWFA on this, and that they allowed it to happen on SH is much appreciated.

I have to say, I honestly enjoy working with this scope, and truly feel dollar for dollar you are getting a great FFP Optic that will serve you well for many years.

Really, I don't consider it "hype' when a new product is released and it works, then the manufacturer offers it at such a great discount to you all. Hype in my opinion is trying to convince you need to spend more, not less... If I was saying you need to spend $2500 to feel good about your scope, then that is hype. Saying this is dollar for dollar a great offer even at retail, is not the same, though I am sure others will disagree.

This was a great deal for someone like me that will probably never buy a $1500-$2500 scope. I laid out $1000 based on the reviews I found here on the hide. Maybe it will convince me that $1000+ glass is worth it. I hope so!! Thanks

I think all there scopes are rated 50 cal. So nothing to worry about in that department.

ordered one last week.i was impressed with the old ss 10x40m,so this looks awesome.can dial down while hunting Wile E. Coyote and crank up a little more mag for match work,best of both worlds.BIG thanks to the HIDE and SWFA,in a world gone mad with money(although no has any)it's nice to see someone taking care of their peep's.i have'nt gave up on the world just yet:)

I called SWFA to order one and they told me that unfortunately the 1-4x throwlever won't work on the new SS HD 5-20x's. He did say that a throwlever for the 5-20x's was in the works though...

Does anybody know if the other group buy works with this? (ex. 3-9x for $599 plus $500 off 5-20x = $1598 plus tax/shipping)

I've tried reading through this entire thread but I may have missed it. Like others, I've been eating dog food for a month to save up.

It was my lucky day. I was going to pass on this deal because I've been out of work for awhile and I didn't want to spend any cash. I went to the desert for some shooting. When I got home I had a Job offer in my E mail and a voice mail wanting to schedule a meeting for an offer from another company. Both are good jobs. I got in under the wire and ordered one. This will be my fifth SWFA scope and I ordered it with no worries regarding quality or support. The SWFA SS has been my "go to brand" for a few years now. If I need it and they make it thats what I buy.

I resisted the urge to get a second one. I literally had in in the shopping cart several times late last night, but there is something to be said for not living beyond your means.

I wonder what the final talley was for the group buy? I'm going to guess 1139 units sold. Congrats to SWFA and the Hide, and thank you for an awesome deal. Now if we could get an update on the first batch.

Yesterday I asked SWFA about the cattails fitting the 5-20 powere ring. They said it will not, but since Frank recommended one..they were going to get busy looking into making one for it.

I am normally a very skeptical person who questions everything. I have made an exception to my normal questioning attitude and bought this scope based on the credibility of this web site and it's operators.

I don't yet have the rifle to put it on and even though I could afford a high end scope I have elected to take a chance with this particular model. Thanks LL and SH for making this deal possible!

I'm in the same boat as a few others. I waited right up until the last waning minutes trying to decide. In the end, I decided to pass and show myself some budget restraint....... which I'll probably regret. I'm gambling that there will be another SS scope some time down the road that fits in between the 3x9 and 5x20. Something to put on a .308 deer hunting rig. Just felt the 5x20 would be overscoping......... now I'll go back to kicking myself in the arse for passing this deal by......!

I hope the rest of you really love this new scope and that it works out great.

It's already been confirmed in these posts and to me over the phone by swfa, and if the above is the current paridigm, Frank, please ask swfa to place a rush on the sunshades they are going to produce for our new scopes.

Looks like they'll be getting another near $100 from me in the form of a sunshade and zoom tail.
