Always been a fatty. Never stopped me really, but recently realised how unfit i was and went on a no-carb diet. Dropped a fair bit without lifting a finger aside from changing my diet.

Now i'm going back on it. This time i'm planning to chop in more exercise. I don't really want to gym it since it's way expensive, and whilst i wouldn't be averse to muscle gain, it's not what i'm after.

To give you an idea of the current diet, this is what i'm eating during a day.

Breakfast: 3 eggs
Morning snack: can of tuna
Lunch: lean kangaroo fillet (200g), bit of salads (no tomato though)
Arvo snack: more tuna (or some seared chicken, about 100g worth)
Dinner: meat + salad/veg. Usually sizzle steak or lean veal.
Supper snack before bed, same as the others above.

If i'm rushed for time or at Uni, i'll usually substitue a meal for something like one of those Atkins low-carb bars or shakes for convenience. I also have about one free day a week, usually because of a close mates party or something on the weekend and obviously beers = carbs, which doesn't jive on a low-carb diet.

So what do you guys recommend for dropping fat.
Exercise, i know i've gotta get more in, but i can usually spare only an hour or so at a time.
Diet. Am i doing anything wrong? I try to cut my portion sizes down and stick to lean protiens but is there anything else i can do, espeically with regards to undoing all i do on my free day/night?

i would say stick with what you are doing. work in a bit more of any form of exercise.
just stick with it.
it will take time.

Get your T levels checked before you invest too much time in diets. Then if it needs to be fixed, fix that, then go see a nutritionist. Otherwise, just go to the nutritionist. I was on pain meds for years after a significant injury and now my body can't make T anymore on its own. I have to take shots.

My T was real low. No amount of diet worked, I'd have died fat if I went on a hunger strike last year. But in Jan., I started T injections and went from 265,270 to about 205 right now. Still losing. I have a fairly balanced meal when I eat, and I don't eat a whole bunch when I do eat. Soup is also your friend. Soup can fill you up, nourish you, and be very low in calories. Soup is a staple in any weight loss diet I'd ever go on.

You need a balanced diet. Atkins is just the polar opposite of raw leaf diets --both starve the body of essential components needed for metabolizing all that food into energy and waste. Both diets will get you skinny, but both will leave you unhealthy. Is skinny the goal, or is healthy the goal?

Drink lots of water and get lots of exercise, those are last but not least. The water washes out the trash and helps the metabolism work better as does the exercise.

The more you lose the easier it is to get more exercise, the less dragged down you feel, basically a snowball effect in the right direction.

first mistake is "going on a diet" before you have made a healthy lifestyle change , if you go on a diet and lose a bunch of weight then return to a lifestyle diet that caused you to gain the weitht in the first place then you are not gonna keep the fat off.

Your diet will certainly cause you to lose some weight fast as its pretty low calorie , the protein is suffeceint but its lacking esential fats and thats a key to health especialy with a low/no carb diet.

Meal 1 , 3 whole eggs + 3-4 egg whites (more protein), Small fruit
Meal 2 , can of tuna and couple eggs or tablespoon Olive oil
Meal 3 , tuna or chicken , small fruit
Meal 4 , Meat (doesnt have to be lean) green veggies
Meal 5 , same as meal 1 or meal 4

Notice that your meals here are situated thecarbs being in their earlier in the day and thei is a bit more fat , if you dont know how a low carb diet works you need to read up on it their must be some fats situated in their.
Carbs are not the devil , but you must know when and why to get them

Simply devices here that may help motivate. If you have a smartphone try two apps. One for tracking your intake and one for exercise plans. My fitness is the first for tracking calories nutrition and what not. I found it very easy to use. Mi coach for the exercise. It will make you a plan and coach you. I'd say walk then consider some jogging down the road. Both together will give you an idea of how to achieve your goal and track progress towards it.

Some guys on here are definitely more educated in diet than me. That being said: Depending on your body weight, isn't there concern with how much tuna is consumed in a day (mercury), especially if Albacore?

I'd stick with the amount of lean meats you are currently eating, but add in WAY more veggies and make sure you are drinking plenty of water to process all that protein.

Also swap out the one of your tuna snacks for a Protein shake once a day.

I don't have any good reasons why to support his argument, but I will say that my protein shakes are the highlight of my dietary day sometimes. Truenutrition.com (thanks for the info JJones75) has some tasty flavors and when eating no more sugar it's nice to have a tasty shake that makes you feel like you're having something that should be bad for you. Chocolate chip cookie dough and Orange Creamsicle make my day

I wasent calling you out by any means , just asking if you had any info like you listed .

I strongly believe that you should get protein from several differant sources as the differant amino profiles will insure better muscle building

Although I'm not a big fan of shakes as he don't satiate my hunger so I end up hungry more often ; but like mentioned a good shake an definatly help curb a sweet took

Oh you didn't call me out by any means, I should have put the reasoning in my earlier post.

Even swapping out some of the tuna for canned chicken Is a good way to go.

We cannot advise our friend here without more facts.

What is your current weight and height?

What is your age?

What is your % body fat, if you've been tested?

What health issues might you have?

Generally, a few rules apply to anyone. Weight training is a necessary part of health and fitness. Ninety minutes minimum weekly can accomplish this. For example, Monday; back and biceps, Wednesday; legs. Friday; triceps and back. Jog, stair step, jump rope, walk fast Tue., Thur., Sat. Do this for six months and re-evalute your program and goals.

I'm new to this whole thing, Whilst i'd love to be able to exercise every day it might not be possible. So what's best for those of us that might only be getting 3-4 days a week in. Should i spread it over those days, or do it in one big hit?

Also, when should i be eating (or taking a protien shake, what is best?). Before or after exercise?

And finally, anyone got any links to recipes for decent high-protien and low-carb meals? I'm usually OK with just plain meat/veg or salad but it'd be nice to get a bit more creative (i love my food, half the reason i'm in this mess) and actually have something i'd enjoy eating.

Training every other day is fine or 2 days thena day off , whatever suits your schedual is fine and anything is better than nothing.

If you eat before you workout make sure its at least an hr before that way food isint in youe gut trying to idgest while you are working out.

Drinking a pretien shake after training is important as it will keep the body from breaking down any muscle for energy and also to shuttle nutrients to the muscle when it needs it
