Of all the suggestions, this one get's my vote.1) Common sense.
2) Awareness.
3) Knife, pepper spray, and whistle all on-person, not in bag somewhere.
The man / woman who will survive the longest is the one who will do the best with they have to work with.
Murphy's Law : If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong. Corollary: If there is a worse time for something to go wrong, it will happen then.
A 2 hour drive is a 120 mile hike.
Teach her the basic's of staying alive in a disaster. Alive / healthy, water and a bit of protean and she can travel 120 miles in bad conditions.
One of her very best options is to simply shelter n place until Dad and the Calvary arrive. If Dad is expeditious she will have water and shelter for the short term. Once she leaves her shelter, she will be difficult to find. Make a plan for a 2nd meeting place.
Make a plan as if comm's are down.
