My 8 yr old son has hunted and shot often from an early age. Killed his first squirrel at 5 and his first deer at 6. He shot a deer at 160yds earlier this year. We are always shooting and keep a little .22 range in the yard for him to shoot. Lately he has taken an interest in long range and has gotten big enough to shoot my bolt guns. I put him on the .22 out to 2-250yds last weekend to let him get used to a mil reticle and so we could talk wind, trigger control etc. at distance. Today was his big day so I took him out and put up some 12" x12" steel at 700yds and that correlated pretty good for him with the .22 at 250yds. I shot 3 times to dial in...my shots are the 2 at center on top and the one in the center. Then I let him fire 15 rounds. He hit the first shot! Of the next 14 he hit 4 so I was real proud of him. I gave him the wind calls...and I am sure that limited him some
. I expect he's going to be whipping me by the time he hits 16. A fun day watching his excitement to hear the "tink" after he shot.
