    What makes this so special?
Looking for a Xmas gift for my gf.
1st I walk in and look at one that I think she might like. Ask how much? Gal says. "Its a lifestyle."
    "Huh?"
"How much you want it for?"
I let her know, I don't. But my gf might like it. "Oh, this is for a man."
Well fuck me, I never would have guessed.
"OH, ok." "Maybe show me the women's then."
    Ist one, too big.
    "How about this one?"(pictured)
    "Uh, yeah I guess."
    "How much?"
I only HEAR the first 3 digits.
I think "Iguess that's not as bad as I thought"
I see the price and it finally registers.
I'm fucking her- not the purse, but at that price I might try. It must be amazing.
No where did it say "Mystery Ranch" on it.or Area 419.
Didn't see a life time gaur un tee.
No clue why this thing could.cost that much. Is it self cleaning, close automatically, count change and block raid?
    Oh yeah, "It's a LIFESTYLE!"

    Realization, I'm a poor.

You can say the same thing about whatever luxury item you want to buy. For guys, it's guns, cars, watches ect. For women, it's purses, shoes, makeup, jewelry, ect. Do we think paying 2000+ for a purse is stupid? Yep. Do women think it's stupid for a guy to buy a 9k rifle and spend another 4k on a scope? Yep. 2,700 isn't bad for a LV purse BTW. I have girlfriends that have LV purses way more than that.

    It’s a sign of success.

For us we put out money into cars, guns, reloading gear etc. other people and women lol do the fashion bit to show what they have.

I have a friend of mine who is that way. He spends all his money on designer clothes. Like he spent $1000 on a Tshirt! Now for me this sounds absolutely crazy BUT I can see the madness by the amount of attention he gets when he goes out and about.

He used to buy nothing but knockoffs and looked the part that he had all this money. Well by looking the part he started getting into meetings and knowing people to become the part. He is the ultimate fake it until you make it.

He went from making 30k a year to now owing multiple Pizza chains and real estate.

My wife’s family has large boners for LV. Like posted somewhere above, I don’t get it but they don’t get why I spend so much on shooting stuff. Atleast for my in-laws it’s 100% a status symbol. The purses don’t do anything that a cheaper purse from macys won’t do, other than show off their money.

With that being said, they are very nicely made and most woman would really like to have one so on that front if you have the money and really love your wife why not buy her one? That’s my logic with my wife, doesn’t matter what I think about something’s value it’s how she feels about it. I certainly wouldn’t want my gun purchases based off how she feels or values them :)

And as far as the man purse, did it have a spot to hide a Glock? Inquiring minds want to know hahaha.

Ok speaking of man purses lol this is what the young men are doing now days. Next time your out and about look at all the young guys with man purses.

Most of them are carrying in them as well.

Man purse is the new hoodie where they can stay strapped but in fashion lol

think your looking at it wrong . You see a beautiful gun in the window of a store , you go in you look around you see walls of sweet weapons you do not yet own , you ponder it in your mind just how to squeeze your purse tight enough to pull off getting as many of those guns as you can then on another wall you see extra mags well nothing is worse than not having enough mags and then on a another wall you see ammo well hell a gun is junk without ammo for it to shoot so you got to get some of that as well . a woman does the same thing with purses ,shoes , and oh hell yea a dress . for you it's an ai or berrett or what ever gun that turns you on most .

I think most of the LV stuff is made either in France or Spain. I know they have a manufacturing plant now in the US too. Generally their stuff is nice. I wouldn't spend that kind of money, but then again I don't care who makes my wallet. I run a el cheapo Magpul wallet and the comparable LV one is like 450 bucks and that's like 3 pieces of leather sewed together.

Just bought my wife a LV for Christmas this week. I think they r a waste of money, but she never asks for anything and is very frugal. Plus she puts up with my shit so I figure why not buy her something nice for Christmas.

I just look at it this way….. the $2700 is cheaper than most scopes we use, most rifles we use and I don’t even want talk about all the reloading shit we use.

Idk bout all the “it’s a lifestyle” shit tho…. That part sounds gay AF

Screw that. An expensive custom is a better rifle. That thing is not a better purse. If I am going to blow money it's going to be on land or useful items that more money=better. I do buy my wife high end jewelry......that appreciates and doesn't become tits on a hog the next time the "lifestyle" changes directions. Count me in the "it's fucking retarded" camp.

    This right here.

At least the LV stuff holds it’s value halfway well also. I don’t mind spending the money on something that can be passed down to our kids.

I buy expensive guns and tools, Wife wants an expensive purse. Sounds fair to me

One more easily justify a higher price for an optic, firearm or a watch. In terms of craftsmanship, precision and the materials.

Sure, the brand is also a factor, but with that brand comes the traits previously mentioned.

How can the same be said about a purse, where as its only value is measured from the name on the label?

Worked for an exhibit company years ago who signed on with LV to do a "show" in NYC. Was held in the original NY Stock Exchange building. Was a collection of vignettes spread out throughout the building. All the display cases, millwork, and decorations were top notch.

Show ran for a few weeks. EVERYTHING (except the product) got tossed when it was over.

Women especially don't want to be seen going around as being the poors. 6K dollar LV or Hermes purse and 1500 dollar Christian Loubitin shoes are the equivalent of most of the shit we get. Shit, I know of guys that look down on your standard fair Rolex Submariner as the poors. lol

A bit old now, but at one time the world's richest person. Takes probably 50 bucks to make the purse, sell for 3k+. No wonder, lol. But hey, if you have the means, why not?

Good way to show how easy money is....

Craftsmanship and materials on LV stuff are actually pretty damn good.

I think the price for a purse like that is stupid. But, some people have raised some interesting points. My tools are Snap on. I have many custom knives that I don’t use. I have many built rifles and pistols for uspsa. My wife is a good woman who has always let me have my expensive hobbies, and she usually didn’t complain. When she did object, she was correct because I have a bad habit of going all in on a project, and will spend money when I shouldn’t. If she wanted a purse like that, I would object at first, but after thinking about it, she has earned it.

It's a way of showing the world that you can afford to throw away 3k on a purse. Fuck the poors! etc. People do notice, especially women, if you're a guy in sales its definitely worth it for the showmanship aspect.

Faking it until you make it is real.

I'm just chiming in that I truly LOVE my wife. Some here know of the multitude of different reasons, but here's one for you:

My Lady hates purses. She hates them with a passion. You should hear her rant about the 'stupid broads' that were ahead of her in line at whatever checkout, and those dolts just stand there. It is only after everything has been rung-through and the final tally given, that THEN the broad opens up the purse and starts rummaging around through whatever-all crap-and-corruption is in there, to start eventually getting around to finding the wallet/billfold/thingy and then open that up and start the process all over again to find a particular card.

God Forbid she's actually looking to use cash, because then even more crap has to come out while she rummages around the bottom, looking for that 'exactly forty-two cents to round off the bill.

Broads like that (which is nearly all of 'em) give women like My Lady a bad name. Because it pisses EVERONE off that is in the line behind them. And yet, the next broad to be in line 9 times out of 10 does the SAME THING.

The hygeine of the purse is ridiculous, too. Women leave the things all over, set them on whatever floor they are standing on so that they can look at/handle something else. They leave them on the floor of the car and such. But how many times have you seen broads set their purses down ON the veggies or fruits in those sections of the grocery store? Watch for that, it too happens all the time. It's pathetic.

My Lady proudly carries a wallet, keeps it secure on her body, and never wants to be associated with those 'stupid broads' that have to show-off/parade/make-a-debacle out of things. And yes, everything written here by me, I have heard her say so many times. So there you have it.

I'm not denying that there CAN be the existence of a decent woman with morals and integrity that would actually care to have one of these items, and actually use it in a decent manner. I won't even enter in to the topic of 'they've earned it' or 'they deserve it' because that is not my realm or anything. But when you watch what happens in grocery stores and such, 'by the masses'..... it sure does paint a vivid picture. So those women mentioned above, they'd be in the 3%.

I don't know if comparing a purse to the stuff guys spend money on is a fair comparison. In theory at least, a custom gun or high tier optic usually comes with a quantifiable benefit. More features and such. What does a LV purse do over a cheaper one? Better quality doesn't really count for much in regards to something that will likely never be used for its full service life. I buy somewhat nicer shoes but I intend to use them for years. Maybe that's why I'm single.

Side note, the concept of fake it till you make it disgusts me. I realize it's a real thing but it's one of those things that makes me want to break free of mainstream society.

I would say that in our hobby of shooting spending more to a point gives gains, but then there is the point of diminishing returns. There are plenty of people that have the accuracy international, tangent or zco, and pull up to the range with their polished ford raptor or big diesel truck. Most of the time these people place mid pack at best at our local matches.

In my opinion they have these items as a status symbol, a tikka with an athlon Midas Tac would outperform most of them and their raptor has probably never been put in 4 wheel drive or seen a dirt road. (One of those people I know personally and honestly didn’t know how to put his lifted powerstroke in 4WD, he thought it was always in 4WD)

Different strokes for different folks. I doubt I will ever own an AI, tangent, or ZCO because I don’t see the value for me, but I understand the value to others. Doesn’t make it right or wrong.

Number of yrs. back, found myself passing thru a Neiman's leading up to Christmas and like Christian in "Pilgrim's Progress" took a detour into Bypath Meadow/ Women's Purse Dept. Figured I'd really splurge it up for my sweet bride with a special $2-300 Santa gift only to be gently but firmly disabused of that notion. Barely escaped with my life and wallet from that Giant named Despair! That is a matrix-like arena navigable only by the fairer sex, the he-man woman haters club is down the hall to the right adjacent to the room full of urinals.

This is why you should never have relationships with high maintenance women. My gf loves firearms, video games, car shows, and motorcycles. Choose wisely.

A woman that's not high maintenance....yeah right! What fucking planet are you on? If its not material, its emotions, if not emotions, its vacations, money, work or something else. All humans want...if not, why live!

i think it is value signalling...like expensive perfume, or worthless diamonds.
not about the real value of the gift, it is about demonstrating how much you will sacrifice in order to give her something.
would you give up the price of a nice rifle or scope to give her a bag to put her stuff in, and more importantly, something that will tell others that her man is willing to sacrifice a lot of cool shit to make her happy.
