Maybe
Yes once they got into settlements, but the breakout of folks on foot from Gaza itself is inexplicable
You do not seem to understand how well-isolated Gaza is . there is near 1.5km wide kill zone with overlapping fields of fire and automated machine gun nests,a 7-meter concrete wall with sensors, remote-control machine guns and barbed wire multiple patrol lines with fences in between, anti-vehicle ditch,And 6 or 7km wide no Israeli zone where there are no settlements or housing, MBTs patrol the perimeter, and every piece of tech known to man is used to guard it , they literaly have vibration sensors embedded into the ground and an underground wall as well.
If the Israeli security services were not in on it , letting it happen for XYZ reason, then this is reminiscent of Iraqi army falling apart when 800 dudes with pickups arrived.
Of course, i can imagine wast technological and firepower overmatch combined with a Wall breeds complacency.
