Many things are factors i n the dierence between a protest and a riot. One of the things is where it occurs. No one has a right to take a issue to any community they please and protest. That protest would be completly innapropriate at a synagogue .The capital however is by definition a allowable place to protest as the seat of a representitiver government. The other factors are intimidation and property destruction. These actions are not protest but a riot and it is the authorities duty to step in. We saw all these actions in the antifa riots but law enforcment was directed to stand down to suite a agenda. Jan 6 took place at the capital. This protest takes place at the capital. There was minimal property damage at jan 6. There is minimal property damage at this protest. IMO this protest has much more in common with jan 6 than antifa riots. I hear you and I understand and am truly sympathetic to the position. BUT - which nation has ever turned around and come back to honestly say “thank you” to the US and the US taxpayer (it’s a Biblical reference). None I can think of. Gratitude matters. There is no gratitude when it is OPM - other people’s money. Instead, it’s a perpetual handout at the expense of our future generations- for what? How much of this $10b is going to make any real difference? How much of the money sent to Ukraine will make a tinker’s damn in the grand scheme?
I don’t think many have really thought this through: bonds are a literal selling TODAY by the government the future wages from the labor of the citizens of a country (tax revenue). Somebody remind me, what is that called?
30 year bonds span a generation, which means that bonds issued today are intended to be paid off by someone born around today. Think on that. You have a baby in your house? There is a bond or few they are responsible for paying for, either to foreign nations, a corporation such as Blackrock or a private US citizen (who also has their own bond obligation). It’s been like that from the jump, and it is necessary to a certain degree, but damn it’s a big number now.
It’s a topic for another thread, but conservative politicians love to talk about reducing taxes. It’s a farce. We have added a trillion dollars to our debt this year alone, and interest rates are rising. Social and foreign programs are not going to be cut. This means taxes can never go down, they must go up. The amount of taxes everyone pays will go up in the future, as will inflation. Children born in the US today have a huge burden to bear in their lives; this is made even more onerous by the fact that the taxpayer base is declining. Thus the obligation per person will increase. Everyone can figure out what that means - through taxation we will be forced to give up more of what we earn to serve the interest payments of these decisons our officials are making now.
Most on here will not read this because it is too much text, but they should. Especially if they have family. What is in store for them is not good.

I agree that there are a lot of countries and sometimes, Israel, that don't show us gratitude. There are a lot of them that will take our money and stab us in the back at the first opportunity.

Yes, but to really put a very fine and truthful point to it, it’s Indentured servitude of the citizenry. Nobody is ever free from obligations the country has made on their labors. From birth to death because bonds never stop being issued and senseless spending never stops. The debt of current and prior initiatives must be paid off or the country defaults. This is why (among others) we must be careful about how we spend money. But I fear that horse is out of the barn.

I came into this thread mostly concerned about the implications for a terror attack in the USA. This is still a concern for me. Also the possibility for a world war is quite concerning. These are risks to the USA. I would prefer to not see more innocents hurt.
As I evaluated Israels response I also educated myself some more on the issues. But more than anything I am horrified by the large amount of civillian deaths. It bothers me.
I have always thought Israel possesing nuclear weapons while not being signatory to the nuclear non proliferation treaty quite odd. Why are they allowed this unique status? This is even more concerning now that I see their disproportional use of force. I believe they will use nuclear weapons preemptively. In many ways I think Israel manipulates the USA. I have some Jewish friends and early in my life some Jewish girl friends. I think of them in very appreciative manner. Its one of the things that I think bears discussion, the diference between the state of Israel and Judaism.
I believe nations and individuals should be judged on their actions. This whole thing is a big mess. I question whether unconditional support of Israel is the right path for the USA in this matter. I think thats appropriate considering their use of force on civilians. Fundamentally I question whether Israel is truly a friend to the USA. I tend to look at things in simplistic ways. If i had a friend who was doing what Israel was doing i would question it too.
Basically it has been my opinion that the USA has been in some deep shit for several decades. I would really like my country to act in a moral and ethical manner at the same time it stands up for justice, I would really like the killing of innocents to stop both palestinian and Israeli.
