Maggie’s Song of the day.

I saw him at Red Rocks in 1998??? Anyway, a travesty that him and Jimmie Vaughan opened for Johnny Lang.
That is a crime. Until SRV showed up mid-80's, those 2nd gen bluesdudes were SERIOUSLY underpaid and ignored for air time. Johnny Lang is/was very good picking up the blues as a young man, but damn. And, just because I'm "talking" here, I gotta drop another one (SRV is my guy for blues-just, unnaturally talented at knowing what to play without ripping anyone off).

In the first few pages I posted a video of SRV doing 3rd Stone From The Sun from the ElMacombo show/video. IMO the best video footage of SRV and his talents.

SRV? Yeah, I’ve heard of him... 🤣

El Mocambo, without question. Although after getting booed off after the first Montreux and seeing him come back dressed as a fuckin' peacock with a "bad" attitude for the second (video I posted earlier with Johnny Copeland), that was pretty damn funny. LOL.

You win with the '59. I have an SRV signature (shocking I know), a white 2000 MiM that I face lifted via neck/pickups (named Jimmie) and am right now building a custom (Warmoth) for "Buddy" (black w/white polka dots natch). I also have a 78 P-Bass I picked up from a buddy while doing my first Deutchland tour for Uncle Sugar.

Wow. One of the truly great ones that did so much to shape the sound and technique of the rock and roll electric guitar. Words can not express my sadness right now. Every friggin kid that grew up with a guitar in the late ‘70s & 80’s has a broken heart....

LOL... heard this song today on the radio and it made me happy. Damn, I'm aging.

Anyhoo-be patient, and listen to the yapping in the early part of the video. Some talent talking. The song... and Michael Schenker speak for themselves. A rare "Gibson" moment for me as a Fender guy. Just saying. Headed for the weekend.

Was trying to find something unusual, that I dig, and everyone may not know. Here is the "original" badass IMO. (I know Elvis is pissed at me now)

Dude was a Squid (I don't hold that against him much-LOL), crashed his Triumph and mangled a leg; became a lush and hooked on pain killers, croaking WAY too early in the 70's when I was a kid.

I get it. Joe just leaves me cold for some reason. I always get that WTF look when the subject comes up and I express my opinion 😬

To be clear-not always thrilled with him; but as a whole, Joe is damn good at what he does IMO.

This kid is still evolving. Never seen an 8 yr old understand blues scales and what is required in a 12 bar scenario though. Buddy is an over the top showman to be sure (not always thrilled with that), but that shit was likely not rehearsed and he was laughing his ass off that an 8 yr old could follow him.

Buddy definitely "showed him" what he was doing, but damn.. the kid is 8! That is pretty damn impressive to me, all day, any day.
