Maybe I'm applying to much at a time, did you do any waiting in between layers? Or curing between layers? I preheat and then had mine in an oven at about 200ish for two hours after I sprayed and it just didnt ever want to cure even weeks later it was still slightly tacky.

and it shoots even better than it looks

I used rustoleum camo “light green”, od green, and dark brown, and another brown called chestnut or nutmeg or something.
I used paper towels to dab the paint on. I make sure that I make larger areas of color, because I hate when they get too muddled together.
Then I did a couple coats of rustoleum matte clear.
Probably put too much time and effort into this one, but it looks good
We paint a lot of workings guns. I go from light to dark paint wise. And I tend to “stripe” my colors.
All black guns stick out terribly. Especially at range.
And once you get into NV stuff, you’ll have to check your paint to confirm it doesn’t make things worse under NODs.

May have ruined it but painted my eurooptic m24. Scope is a stand in and left it alone. Followed some lit online/eodsix suggestions to get somewhat accurate. I figure after a few hunting seasons it’ll wear well.

I did a little rattlecan makeover on a dmr build over the weekend.
Rustoleum Deep Forest green, lime green, and the stripes are the black anodized finish. Kinda dig it but should probably start using Cerakote
It’s got Aero Precision receivers, SLR Ion rail, Proof 18” 223 Wylie barrel, Geiselle SDE, Rubber City BCG, and a BCM stock.

Whats your recomendation on spray paint? Got an archimedes bareled action, and barell is bare stainless. Thought about ceracoating, but dont think would be worth it.
If you can find any, i did mine thats posted above in the Aerovoe Military vehicle paint. Shit takes forever to cure but that normally lends it to lasting.
Spending some quality time with my grandson and partner in crime… let him do the whole thing the way he wanted and how he thought it looked best… might add some green to it, though

Tear some chunks out of it and experiment on something to see how it looks.
I was using sea sponges but the last time I used a tile sponge, cut it into pieces then picked out spots all over it. I also used a small piece of red scotchbrite, green and white would be good too.
This is one I did with only a little part of a natural sea sponge cut from it. With that little piece I added all those black specs you see!
Sometimes you need to cut pieces off and experiment a bit!

Re-painted the m24. Alumahyde Desert Tan and Earth Brown (really looks grey green in person). The earth brown screwed up the accurate paint job. But it came out good.

Funny thing with the sponging, I tried and tried to do a shotgun and no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to where I liked it. Using bigger blotches. It was a hunting gun and probably would have been great camo, but to my eye it bugged me, I thought it looked bad. So I just sprayed it.
A couple years later I did it again, only with smaller detail and while I'm not in love with it, I can live with it. But the truth it with all the small dabs of paint, it's poor camouflage. At a distance it looks too much like one solid color. (but it's fine, the real reason I did it over was the "matte" clear coat it had was anything but and was very shiny and reflective)
