The final NRA approved Mid-Range match at St Louis for this year is on October 22nd. This will be shot beside the sling and iron shooters. There are 4 matches of 2 sighters and 20 scored for a total of 88 rounds fired. The match will start at 8am sharp and it is a good idea to be at the range at 7 to register. Match fees are $35 and lunch is extra if available. (Bring your own in case)

This is a private range and is only open to non-members during the matches. For more information on St. Louis Benchrest club and to join, click here.

For results of matches and photos, click here.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

There is a match coming up this Thursday. This is a great match to jump into F-class, or long range shooting in general if you haven't tried it before.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

RyanJay11: Thanks for the heads up. I've driven down to Big Piney near Houston to shoot in their F-Class and tactical matches. Maybe I'll give you guys a try later this summer.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Natty Bumpo,
I am going to try to make it to the Houston matches on the 17th and 31st.

There are matches coming up at St. Louis Benchrest Club on the 7th and 10th.

If you are interested in F-Class and live in/near Missouri, there are 4 oppourtunities to shoot in July. Click here for info on Big Piney Sportsmans Club and here for info on St. Louis Benchrest Club. Both clubs hold matches in many disciplines other than F-Class if that isn't your thing. Get out and compete! Its a blast and you are already reading about it.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

RyanJay,
I was at the Big Piney f-class shoot on 5/26. Probably won't be back down there for awhile. About 290 miles round trip.

Re: the matches at St. Louis BR club: are those F-class shoots (prone w/ rear bag & bipod), or are they benchrest shoots?

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Natty Bumpo,
They are F-Class matches. Normal F-T/R and F-Open rules apply.

At the informal Thursday matches about half of the older shooters shoot from the bench, but they are seperated into a different class for awards.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Natty,
Feel free to bring your "tactical" rig on the Thursday matches at the bench rest club. They are very informal. All I have is my "tactical" rig which has a muzzle break and I am only looked down upon by RyanJay (which doenst hurt my feelings any). They have been seperating the squads into those that shoot from the bench and those that shoot off the ground.

It is a good time to shoot at big ole paper target.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Natty,
As WTW mentioned, the Thursday matches are very informal. You can bring whatever rifle/support you want and compete. It is a great match to get started in F-Class. Muzzle brakes are allowed in this match. We do try to keep a couple of spaces between the shooters with brakes and the other shooters to avoid distractions.

Tactical rig shooter WTW has been using a very tactical front rest, so feel free to use whatever equipment you want for the match and we will put you into the correct class.

I hope you can make it.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Last match my bipod decided to jump out of my rifle case before I headed up there and ended up shooting off of an ammo can. Like Ryan said it is very informal and is designed to get people out shooting.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

This weekend would be a great opportunity to get out and dust off your rifles in preparation for the upcoming matches. Exercise your 2nd amendment rights and have a great Independence day!

If brakes are allowed, are suppressors allowed as well? Surely nobody would complain about someone being entirely too quiet.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Branden,
Suppressors are allowed on the Thursday matches. There a usually a couple of guys using them. The club matches are very easy going and a great way to try out F-Class. Bring whatever you want to shoot and come to the August match.

Today's match went great. We finished just before the rain started. The wind was very light and the scores reflected it. One shooter shot a perfect 300.

We have a NRA approved match this Sunday. It looks like it is going to be hot one, but I hope to see some of you guys there.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

I wonder if I can drag Tom out of the shop on a weekday so he can get some practice in for the nationals. He keeps talking about doing it, getting him to DO it is the challenge.

Tom, if you're post stalking me, are we going to do some F-class or what?

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

Ryan, I was wondering if the match on the 8th could accommodate a nubie with a box stock rem 700p. Drop my a note if you are willing to talk me through what I would need to do. I am a brrc member.

Re: St Louis Mid Range F-Class

The final F-Class match at St. Louis this year is on the 22nd. Please contact me via PM or post here if you plan to attend. I would like to give the match director a heads of how many shooters to expect.
