I'd like to have them available before the GB starts, but unfortunately I won't. The only remaining component to be completed is the stock. Tom and I are going to meet in Sacramento next week during the F Class Nationals to put the finishing touches on it. All of the other components are ready to go and the quality is impeccable. If I had to compare the 323 to anythng that I currently do, I'd say that it's a smaller version of the RECON without the embedded front rail and muzzle brake.

Yes....I'll have barreled actions ready for stocks before the stocks are completed and this will include some that are integrally suppressed. I'm changing up some tooling and dedicating a lathe to the rimfires this week and I'll be getting at least two additional Hardinge lathes in to handle additional rimfire workload so I can keep lead-times as short as possible. I can take photos of barreled actions when they come back from finish....

Mike, I know you need to get the 605 up and running before going with a different mag system than the ruger one, but have you thought at all about the possibility of black dog machine or someone making an aics style 22LR mag that will work with all the bottom metals out there and the 605 action? God I think that would have everyone drooling with a setup that is exact to the centerfire rifles but in a 22LR.

Jr_V, The sky is basically the limit when it comes to adapting a magazine to the completed 605 DBM, but do you have any info on an AICS style magazine for a 22RF?

Nope. We need someone to step up to the plate and develop one. If that was my line of work I would be on that working with you to develop and innovate the best .22LR trainer to come along, unfortunately I am not that person. I just came up with the idea and now we just need a company like Black Dog to develop it. It sounds like you have a good idea on the feeding and angles in which to be successful for the 605 to be a reliable repeater that you need to find someone to work with you and get it done!

No pressure, but I would like mine done tomorrow.

After giving this a little thought, I do believe it is technically feasible to offer a .308 sized magazine for 22LR that will fit the UGSW and other current DBMs that accept an AICS style magazine. I'll start modeling the magazine in Solid Works next week and see what it looks like....

How about some detailed/closeup, pics of the receiver, bolt, bolt-face showing extractors, striker, locking lugs. Maybe even some measurements.
If I am going to buy a custom RF receiver, I want to know something more than what it is. There are several out there to choose from. Convince me yours is the best route to take.

I appreciate your post and the fact that you've taken the time to express your interest in the Skunkworks rimfire project. Based on the rocket sled type movement of this project in the early months, I fully expected to have photos available by now, but a couple of very minor setbacks and other competing priorities have put me a little behind where I'd like to be at the moment. I'll definitely be posting photos of the latest Model 323 actions as soon as certain in-house administrative chores have been completed. What I can say right now is that the Model 323 and the Model 605 rimfire actions are of the level of quality and precision that I'm willing to put the Underground Skunkworks name on; which is no different than the STINKER and Model 911 centerfire actions. However, the Model 323 will not be available as just a receiver for someone else to build on. The Model 323 will be offered with complete rifles manufactured by Underground Skunkworks. The Model 605 will be the rimfire action that I offer as a stand alone and I don't expect to release it until late Q2 or early Q3. I'll continue to offer progress reports/updates to everyone on the list via PM Blast on a regular basis, so if you're interested in being added to the blast list please let me know....Thanks JP....

This may be a dumb question but I thought I would ask.

Has there been any thought to working with Tom Manners in a DBM that is the same size as his Mini Chasis. Would be even cooler to be able to pull off my 308 action and put on my 22 and use the same DMB with just a different magazine which from my understanding if you got a aics mag to work, It should work with his DBM. Just a thought. Im not made of money like most on here Im sure and being able to use my 1000 stock/dbm setup with 2 different barreled actions would be very cool. And having a tack driver/comp gun to boot. I may be way off base here and if so I can delete my post so it doesnt confuse any new comers.

You're actually dead on to what the plan is. The Model 605 will drop right into the current M700 chassis system that Manners makes. I'm also working on a regular sized (SA) AICS style magazine that accepts 22LR and plugs into the chassis system. Very easy and already a large part of the plan. The Model 605 is a very versatile action that will fit into any stock made for the Rem700, so basically, the sky is the limit....

Awesome to hear you are working on the AICS .22lr mags. Like I have said before, I think that feature will take this project to the next level. I would be bugging you every day with info, but then that would take you away at the finished product which I am awaiting for so I am just sitting here watching the updates. I need some pics soon to feed my addiction!

Interested on pricing on the 605. Been looking for a drop in trainer to bolt and unbolt into a mcree's. Was looking at a Sako but they are hard to find. 40x's realllly expensive and single shot. A barreled action 605 may be it. Best of Luck. ADT.

Thanks and I'm working on it as diligently as I can. I received a bit of news today that caps off one of the last remaining administrative duties, so the Model 323 is very close to releasing photos. The Model 605 is chugging along as well, but I'm easily a couple more months out with it....

You're absolutely right and my plan was to post an update this week, as I have three Model 323 barreled actions ready to have the integral suppressors installed. Once that happens, I'll post photos of the barreled actions, components, etc and then travel to Missouri with two of the barreled actions for Tom Manners and I to put the final touches on the stocks. Once the plugs and molds are made, we're ready for full scale procuction of the Model 323.

The Model 605 is in the batters box. I have to complete my DBM for the centerfire rifles, as it is the host for completing the DBM for the Model 605. Once the feeding geometry is worked out and the insert is completed for the AICS magazines, the final design for the Model 605 can be finished. This also opens up a lot of other possibilities for the current 40XB single shots that are out there....

A lot of other projects have fallen out of doing the rimfire projects, so I've had to accomplish a lot more than I originally intended to and I've not been able to get the finished rifles out within my original timeframe.

Thanks for the interest Shawn and I will be posting more info very soon. This has been an exercise of my patience as well as I'm anxious to get these out there....

I'm trying to decide between the 323 and 605. I was initially really set on the 605 because it took standard Remington 700 parts. I was planning to use it as a trainer for my Remington 700, but since I've got a build on a Badger M2008 action now I don't necessarily have to have a build on a 700 action to use as a trainer. I guess either one in an A5 style stock would work for me. I am really excited to see how the 323 looks.

I work really close to Tom's shop (it's GAP/Badger's old shop). Hope you enjoy your visit to KC and I can see how these new rifles will look soon!

The Model 323 will make a good trainer, it's just not aimed at being a true-to-scale trainer like the Model 605. The Model 323 action is as long as the Model 605, just not as large in diameter and designed to be a little lighter....Thanks and I'll be in touch before I head to KC....

You could have several SH members meet you if you were inclined to have some type of "showing" in the KC metro area.

Also you could have access to a private range if you wanted to demo your latest product......just a thought
