Is there any benefit in these over say Mini Mags? Im shooting these out of a 522. Ive also read that Stingers can damage certain barrels due to the longer case. Is this a concern for a 522?
Thanks

Re: Stingers and Velocitors

That gun you should be all right. but if you're concerned, get a box and manually cycle them through...if they don't get stuck in the lands, you're probably ok. The next case is to see if they allow the bolt to close.

The issue you're hearing about is in regards to certain guns such as match chambers or a couple guns that simply would not accept that case...I don't recall ever hearing of an issue with that rifle.

Really? I would have thought it would have been the other way around....

Thanks </div></div>Well, a match chamber will not work well with the Stinger ammo.

Opposite experience here. Velocitors were crap in all my guns.
To be fair, it has been a bit since I tried them. Have they made any improvements?

Re: Stingers and Velocitors

Velocitors if you shoot past 100 yards and want to kill stuff. If I never shot past 100 yards I'd maybe look at the lightweight hyper-velocity stuff like Stingers, Aguila SuperMax (30 grain HP @ 1750 fps?) , etc and find one that shoots well.

Velocitors happen to shoot pretty well for me, but the same performance would likely be attained by the Aguila Interceptor; 40 grain HP or RN @ 1470 fps or the Winchester "HyperSpeedHP" also a 40 grain HP @ 1435 fps.

I lean towards the heavy, fast stuff for hunting as it behaves better in the wind and hits harder farther out, but that's just me.

Re: Stingers and Velocitors

If you are refering to a Sig 522, then I can tell you both shoot well,as far as function goes. The Sig has a generous chamber, and will function the longer case Stingers quite well. As far as accuracy, hands down the Velociters are favored by my rifle....1.5 MOA at a hundred....best regards Plum
