Got mine in last week but finally pulled it out today for a trial run.

I threw some unique, just because I wasn't actually reloading and it was close on the counter.

First impressions are very positive.
Setup, speed, and changing powders is intuitive and painless.

I think I'll hang on to this one.

The cliff notes is that the super tickler is on par with the speed of the version three AT. F class John says that the artificial intelligence or learning mode is easy to use and gets you very close so that you can fine-tune the settings which he hadn’t done in the video if I recall correctly - that means the super trickler can probably beat the V3 by a little bit. He starts the video reading from the super trickler manual talking about an analysis of the overall time to reload a certain number of rounds given an error rate of 5 to 10% - suggesting that you’re better off accepting one out of every 10 or 20 throws being over with faster drop times because the 10 seconds here and there dropping an overage and discarding it is small and you gain in overall speed. He notes that setting up the V3 requires a lot of tinkering and fussing when changing between powders because you have to change the ingenuity precision gadget as well as the plunger on the hopper of the V3. in comparison, you can save almost countless profiles of powder charges and cartridges in the super tickler. He also talks about the user interface and the pluses and minuses of having it on your phone versus on the touch screen of the super trigger. One of the pluses of having it on your phone is that it can automatically update. One of the minuses is that when your phone updates its operating system that might require an update from Adam McDonald. If Adam stops supporting the app for some reason you might be screwed unless you’re using an old phone. The super tickler on the other hand is updated through the SD card but apparently it is seamless. Because of that arrangement, if they stopped supporting the super Troeckler at any time after you got it running properly, you could keep using it . He then shows emptying the two units and they both look relatively easy. He notes that your powder will be exposed to the atmosphere w the super tickler because there’s no cap on top however aftermarket ones are being 3-D printed. He notes that you can’t tell how much powder is remaining in your super tickler without looking through the hole in the top as there is no transparent window on the side. And probably several other things but that’s what I remember. I was able to listen to it on YouTube with 2X playback speed and still be able to pick up everything so that cut the time down to 16 minutes for me.

I'm bummed that I sold my stock AT V3 and got the V4. The V4 has inspired no confidence and at this point I'm just waiting to receive my ST in the Spring-ish timeframe. I'll almost certainly sell the V4 with less than 100 charges thrown with it.

I sold my V4 with only a couple hundred rounds on it on eBay a couple of weeks ago for $650. A week before, one of the boxes that hadn’t been opened and sold for 750. I think it’s guys who want one but don’t want to wait because there is still a waiting list. If you don’t mind hand weighing in hand trickling charges over the winter, you might consider getting rid of the V.4 sooner rather than later.

V3 worked good but felt like a science fair project...

I was always worried about breaking cables.

Mine also squealed like a stuck pig and had to be angled just right. Just no sense in all that when a fully developed professional level product exists.

Kudos to adam- he had the best diy / hobbyist solution out there- but the super is just different. It's a professionally designed, engineered, and manufactured bit of kit.

As far as "do they both drop n grains in x seconds”, well yes - but we're paying a freaking grand for a powder dispensing device- details matter

Just a heads up, the ST owners group on FB is a total shit show. Obviously there were always going to be growing pains with a product like this but Peter and the other dude seem to be pretty responsive/good about putting out updates and info.

Try that with RL50 or n570. That’s the problem w the v4 it’s oriented towards the middle of the caliber spectrum. I don’t think Adam shoots 50 BMG

I run N570 without issue in mine, just needs the #4 shim.

I know, you have mentioned this before. But something just rankles me about Jimmy rigging a bunch of shims and tilting them underneath of it. To each his own. But as a poster said above, the autotrickler is just not a refined product. It has an air of hobbyist amateurism compared to the super Troeckler. Sorry my mind is made up of

I hear ya. I think they did a poor job with the beta testing. The orig run had an adjustable set screw in back to adjust tilt. Prob should have left that feature alone. You can buy printed shims now which is what I did. It is nice to see more options out there now. I still have my V3 with a bunch of extras if the V4 ever gives me issues I will go back to V3 with the ID trickler.

Yeah, I don’t even know what to say about the above post except sorry you had a bad experience.

One thing that is true about the interface of the autotrickler being an app on your phone is that if the developer checks out for any reason you’re fucked.

I know this from experience because I use apps on my phone from a guy in Australia, named Vadim at knifegrinders.au that allow me to determine the precise angle to set a knife in a jig to grind it on a Tormek T8 sharpener. That guy unexpectedly died earlier this year and the apps are now non-functional because of iOS updates. Fortunately, I have his programs on a PC and on an older iPhone that is not being updated. It is a real concern. Unexpected things like that can happen at any time and if there’s only one guy running the show, you’re screwed if he checks out.

There's always a give and take. Personally I don't trust little touch screens that are going to die and become unresponsive. At least a phone can be replaced easily. With that said I agree 100% with what you're saying. I'm just accepting that it's an expensive hobby and I'm likely to loose somewhere.

Well, if they’re smart, any guy with a company such as this should have it set up so that it could easily be sold by his heirs to a party that could pick up and keep running with it. To do that, you would need clear note-keeping to make it easier for others to figure out what you had done and how to pick it up and move forward.

Vadim did not have that. His whole website is still there but completely in limbo. No responses to emails. You can even still purchase things and be charged, but get nothing in return and no communication. Ask me how I know lol.

There are pros and cons either way with these things: running an App off a phone pocket-computer means the user interface can evolve, and new tweaks and updates can be uploaded and sent to users easily... which is preferable to most, rather than having to send the unit into the mothership (especially if it's on the other side of the world).

That said, nothing is foolproof and missteps can still be made, anything that relies on lines of code is susceptible to errors. A few 1'a and 0's in the wrong places and things can go from working like a champ to dog shit (which is my hunch of what I'm going through now with RCBS's App and their Match Master).

You don’t have to send ST anywhere for updates - you do it via SD card.

The point is NOT about software updates for the AT/ST, it is that if your phone controls the unit, the App will not work unless prepared for/updated after phone OPERATING SYSTEM UPDATES.

The Supertrickler, so far, is exactly as promised. And more... Out of the box, the setup was so damn easy. No fiddling. No fuss. AI is fast and interesting. The unit itself is VERY nice as a production unit and appears extremely well made.

I really like how you can save presets. I ended up turning AI off yesterday to go into full expert mode To be fair, it was a little overwhelming but I read the manual a few times to get a an idea of what each setting did. Only changing one at a time.

Going through each setting, starting with bulk, fine, and pulse, I can throw 31.8 gr of Varget consistently in 4.5-5.5 seconds. Did 50 rounds for practice, resulting in fast and spot on throws. No overthrows in my experience. With an error rate of 0% in 50 rounds, I'm sold so far.

I can post up my settings later.

It doesn't depend how small you're shooting, it literally doesn't matter when the same repeatable small SD/ES numbers can be achieved on a number of other powder measuring platforms. The exact precision of your powder charge's weight is meaningless compared to the consistency of the end result - velocity when the round is fired.

Field shooters don't require more precision than F-class or benchrest shooters, and to pretend that's the case is honestly hurting your argument here more than helping it. Shooting prairie dogs in the field without missing means consistently hitting a 5"x12" target, the size of the average prairie dog. If your gun is half decent (even just 0.5 MOA groupings) and you can load to an ES of 20 or less you will have no issues doing that out to 500 yards if you correctly read the wind conditions. At 500 yards a 25fps velocity difference (24940fps vs 2965fps, using 105 Hybrids as an example) is not even enough to create 1 tenth of a mil of difference in your elevation, much less any difference to your windage, at 0ft DA. To require 2.2 MRAD of elevation instead of 2.1 MRAD of elevation you have to drop the velocity all the way from 2965fps to 2920fps, a 45fps drop - all to accomplish an elevation difference of only 1.8" at 500 yards (0.1 MRAD = 0.36" at 100 yards --> 1.8" at 500 yards). You're still not missing a prairie dog at 500 yards even with a 50fps ES, unless either your load sucks (in group size, not just SD/ES) or you suck as a shooter at reading wind/shooting fundamentals.

Meanwhile those F-class and benchrest guys? They're shooting groups smaller than prairie dog heads at 600 and even now 1,000 yards (new record of 2.6566" at 1,000 yards was set just this June). They also aren't chasing their zero - they're measuring the effects atmospheric changes have on whatever load they're using because even with a Prometheus your 600/1,000 yard zero is different from day to day based on current conditions.

The only zero shift anybody with a decent load (single digit SD and ES) is seeing between shooting sessions is caused by either crappy equipment or atmospheric changes. Atmospheric differences can and will shift everybody's zero, particularly depending on the type of powder you use and how temperature sensitive it may be, even if you measured your powder charge accurate to 0.00001gr. At 1,000 yards even using my Prometheus my "zero" will shift by half a mil at 1,000 yards just from the morning to the afternoon of the same day if it starts out chilly/dry and ends up a hot/humid afternoon.

That was the answer I was going to post to Okran’s bullshit response. He’s a full of shit tool. If you think your scale might be drifting from session to session, put your last charge in a sealed vial and weigh it next time you go to load. If 45 now weighs 44.6, just load 44.6.

With that said, the ATV3+IP is still doing awesome, as well.

In my opinion, the best machines on the market are the ATV3+IP and Supertrickler (tbd), hands down...
