Rifle Scopes SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

While I'm hopefully optimistic about getting a SWFA christmas present, I really doubt we'll see these before the end of Dec.

At this point, I'm purely in this for the $ savings, and since this optic has already missed 3 gun season and deer season, there's no point in NOT waiting the final month or two.

I can only hope the quality of the finished product phenomenal and worth the extra wait.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

I had a very minor issue with my 5-20 and they replaced the whole scope. Once you guys get your scopes they will take care of you!

Hang in there!

There are more than enough that already have an AR. I have a 5-20, and hope that I have a little cash to pick up one of these in the classifieds when they come in.

God forbid a ban happens, but if it does come down before these scopes come in, I'm gonna chalk it up to poetic justice.

Sure will be somethin' if all of a sudden, hundreds or thousands have no use for a shipping container full of scopes.

I'm pretty sure most of the scope package purchasers already own the firearm(s) they have in mind for these scopes. I don't see a mass cancellation as a likely scenario, renewed AW ban or not.

Secondly, I think the poster was simply trying to show a problem with their priorities. The new facility was a high priority and it is done (AFAIK), getting these scopes done, along with good vendor selection and having a firm disposition with their suppliers on the issues of timeliness has very obviously been a much lower priority for SWFA.</div></div>

Well considering that SWFA did charge the FULL price for the 5-20 when it shipped and are then charging the 1-6 at like 300 to close the order when it comes in, i would say it could be the case, though unlikely.

It looks to me like the group buy price was good enough that people want to wait for the 1-6x to get here.</div></div>

I've been writing them for about a month now discussing a refund and they keep saying it's almost here. I finally got that they will be rolling in in small batches of 50 or so. Since i'm 150+ down the line, i'm over waiting since at this rate I could be waiting next year as well. I told them to cancel my order a week ago and send me a label so I can send back my 5-20 and now they aren't responding to my emails...I too am sick of the treatment from SWFA. God forbid you go over to optics talk and look at the forum there...even more fanboys there then here.

They've got some nice scopes for amazing prices, but call it what it is here, they've really dropped the ball here and haven't been doing anything to make it better.

I love how they offered to let me keep the 5-20 for a 10% discount. That's not even close as to what the group buy offer was...thanks but I'm ready to end this nightmare.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

FWIW- I emailed again and asked for a straight answer. NO lines, nothing being feed to me, just tell me what you know.

Basic of the answer was- they have no clue. There was the "the higher ups aren't telling us specifics", this could very well be the case. I'm happy that I at least got a straight answer though and now know that this could be another 2 weeks or 2 months.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

SWFA just posted this on their facebook page a couple minutes ago:

"The first shipment of the SS 1-6x24 HD scopes has been in U.S. Customs and is scheduled to be cleared this week"

Just came back to post this!! Now here's to hoping it wasn't a shipment of 20 scopes!!!

but how do they factor shipping order? I was already billed 3/4 of my order price, since they sent me a 5-20. Will they complete my order first, or will they send off 1-6's to the first batch of buyers who jumped in on the earlier 1-6 only promotion who haven't been billed anything, yet?

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

I'm guessing since they ordered the 1-6 ahead of you them. You've "only" paid for the 5-20 thus far, once the 1-6's roll in they'll begin that list and those people will pay. Just my guess.

I asked her in my email when talking about canceling, she replied back exactly.

Mr (Ryan327),

Yes you are a ways down on the list. You are 156 on the actual list, and we do fill these in the order they were received in to be fair to all of our customers. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you,
Catrina O'Neal

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

Although I don't think there is definitive evidence of the ratio of number of initial orders of the 1-6 to the number of scopes that will be coming in each batch, I do think having this ratio significantly larger than 1 is more bad business by SWFA. If the orders began fulfillment much closer to the time the GB began AND the time between batches was small, that would certainly be acceptable from my perspective. Additional wait for SWFA to have any priority from their supplier(s), along with international shipping and perhaps a delay in customs all sound like they will add up to a fairly significant delay between the time the first folks get their 1-6 and the last get theirs (last in the GB of course).

Bad SWFA, bad, bad and more bad.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

^ I was told by Skylar that their system cannot tell them where you are in the sequential order of shipping priority. But when the merchandise gets to the warehouse that ships to us the system there will spit out the order of priority, which is based on the when we ordered. You'd think that customer service/sales would have that info though. I thought software should do something like that.

So first come first served. I think mine will be one of the 1st 50 since I ordered 40 minutes after 5000 code for just the 1-6 was activated.

Really shouldn't be hard. Sort 1-6x and the combo orders only. But with so few coming at a time I'm guessing I have awhile still.

Yeah, I don't know about those things. It's just in this day and age I woulda thunk they could. I must watch too much sci-fi star trek type crap.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

^ I think it's just all in chronological order, bro.

When I get mine ill be sure and post pics of everything as best I can and enter my thoughts, unless someone beats me too it. I don't think I'd be so good at actual scope reviewage though. I'm no expert and haven't ever looked through
"great" glass to compare too. And checking the tracking and all that I'm probably kinda weak with that.

Best glass that I ever looked through is my USO. That's good glass I hear. I never looked through much else besides Leopold.
That's probably a good thing so I won't be too sceptical about it, I'll be happy in other words.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing that retical & at all powers. I'm glad the center is open but I hope the center dot isn't so fat @ 6x. Wonder about illumination too.

I'll be directly comparing this to my Burris PRS. Its actually going in my PEPR mount that the burris is currently in. My Burris has been 100% rock solid for all of my 3 gun action, carbine courses, etc. I can only hope the 1-6 lives up to all this hype.

I guess I'm satisfied with the 5-20, but I am getting some eyebox issues at high power with it, that I don't get with some of my cheaper scopes. I've read that its something of a common issue with that scope though. If anyone else could confirm that, I'd appreciate it.

Most of my other scopes are slightly lower power (16x), but without any eyebox issues. I have an adjustable cheek rest, and I've tried damn near everything to solve it. lol.

It's just that companies buy or build systems all the time that can't talk to each other. The integration gets expensive...which is how I make a living...fixing crap that wasn't anticipated. The best software is designed from the ground up on the assumption that everything will be broken.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

Same question here. I ordered back in April, well before the group buy was even announced. All i can get out of them is that "chances are high" that i'll be in on the first batch of shipments. The wait is killing me...the NFA runs faster than these guys.

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

Looking forward to hearing about the 1st batch of 1-6X. Hope this scope rivals those that are 1.5X - 2X the price of the SWFA. That Bobro mount is patiently waiting.

Ohhh , I forgot that the world will end tomorrow........

Most likely the exit pupil at 20x power is so small, that it is hard to keep your eye in the right spot. If you used 16x, the eyebox issue would probably not be there.

mine still doesn't know either. In fact it's my belief she will never know...

I hope it doesn't arrive on a Saturday. What would that be anyway? A Saturday in March, April?

Re: SWFA-SS Tax Day Group Buy: 1-6, 5-20, and more!

My 5-20 will be here tomorrow. I was having SWFA wait to ship together when I was told they'd be ~1week. After that changing again I asked to just have them ship my 5-20 when available and had a tracking # that day.

No issues at 16x. No issues at 16x with my 16x scope, either, though. I was hoping with more expensive/higher quality glass, that it wouldn't have eyebox issues.

I'm entirely open to suggestions from those of you who shoot high power optics more than I do.
