Looking to see what the masses would consider a good "other" optic to consider for a Seekins PH1 6.5CM.

Found the T5Xi at a $$ great price, seriously considered a Vortex in the same (sort of) specs but wasn't sure about the $$$$ price. My only hang up with some scopes is the Christmas tree reticles. Not a big fan of the busy optic, but I know that's the market right now.

    Anyway....suggestions?? Thanks.

Yea...that Vortex just keeps popping up. LOL...Can't hate a quality product. I'm looking in the For Sale sections as well. There's just so many quality products out there, and here. Thanks for the replies!

There is a pretty big difference between a M5Xi and T5Xi in the terms of glass and turrets. I have both and can say unequivocally that the glass on the M5Xi is quite a bit better in clarity to the T5Xi series. I put the T5Xi down with the Vortex Gen II Viper series which has some pretty decent glass, and I also have a 3-15 version. If I had to choose I think I would go with the Vortex Gen II Viper, and if I had some more money, I would get the Gen II razor used.

Are you stuck on 5-25 scopes or open to other options? What kind of shooting do you intend to do? Distances? Low light/hunting? I'm in agreement with JSTARSZ in that the T5Xi glass quality leaves something to be desired, but I love the turrets especially the second rev feature. If you don't like tree reticles then the SCR is a great one for precision work but might be a bit thin if you plan on doing some hunting with the rifle (illumination can help in certain situations). I have a PST II 5-25 that I think is fantastic for the price. If you do plan on lugging the rifle around for hunting trips you'd benefit from a lighter scope and the Mark 5 5-25 seems to fit the bill well but I don't like the high cost of illumination for Leupold. Another I'd consider would be the new Burris XTR III 5.5-30x56, it actually has greater FOV than the Leupold even thought it's 5.5x, but those won't be shipping until May at the earliest. If you're willing to entertain other magnifications there are some great 4-20 optics like the Burris XTR II 4-20 (which can be had for a steal these days), the Tract Toric 4-20 and the new XTR III 3.3-18x50 which I think would be great on that rifle.

I just picked up an Athlon Cronus 4.5-29X56. Impressed so far. Compared side by side with a NF ATACR. Glass to me seemed the same on both. They may both be made by LOW in Japan but don’t know for sure. They’re usually around $1800 new.

I have Burris XTR II as well as several SIII Sightron. The Burris is a solid optic. I’d consider it a rugged go to scope. Sightron is a bit more geared to the target scope side. Not quite as heavy duty but I’ve never had issues with mine. Tracking is excellent. Own 3 currently and have used them for about 8 years now.

The glass on the Sightron is noticeably better than the Burris. Sightron maxes on 24 power is clearer and more distinct than the Burris is maxed on 20 power. And the Cronus is slightly better than the Sightron. Defiantly brighter.
