I would liike to hear your guys is differnt views on this.

When your trying new bullets or new powder how many rounds do you usually load for "test" rounds?

I usually go with 20rounds.

i load 10 of one load and 10 of another , that way i can shoot one 5 shot group, shoot 5 of the other load then come back to the first load and shoot another 5 shot group..... that way i can realy tell how its grouping, and im not loading a bunch of shells that don't shoot good , but that's just me u know what they say different strokes for different folks chaz

Re: Test Loads - how many Rounds?

As many as it takes to develop an accuarte and suitable load.
I think you may mean , " How many shots do you fire per group "
If thats the case I only load and fire three rounds at a time until I see some potential accuracy then I load up five to confirm , I go along like that until I have a load that puts five shots in the smallest group I can achieve.
Then I record all the load data for that load just incase I make changes that screw up the load later in the day.
Eventuall you settle on a best load for the components you have.

Usaully start with the mid range load from the manual. Work up in .5 grain increments, three rounds per charge to .5 over published max. Ususally there's a sweet spot in that range. Then five rounds, on that sweet spot to confirm. That's about 20 rounds.

+1... I shoot in 5 round groups. But that's just me. I do MOST load work ups shooting over the chronograph. When I find the smallest group in .5 grain increments, I load in .25 grain increments on each side of that smallest group. That's where I leave it.
