The AR15 Picture Thread

The entry stock is impressive. 556 and 300 Blackout ran great suppressed and unsuppressed.

I find that the MRO is a bit more forgiving if you want to go shorter. I haven't tried anything taller than the 1/3 mounts, but with an "aggressive" posture, I find the lower 1/3 height to be pretty natural.

This is my first MRO HD. I like it so far overall. The red "haze" in some lighting conditions is annoying, but that's about the only negative. Have been running Aimpoint and Eotech products a couple decades. And more recently some Sig products.

I still run 1.97 on some rifles. However, I still work behind rifles away from the store/shop. So, staying as up to date on current TTP's is part of the gig. Running nvg and gas masks happens.

There's a growing trend to have your carbine and handgun stance/position almost exactly the same now. Which can only really be done with 2.25 or taller mounts. It makes training a bit more efficient. And there's another several bullet points one can make for the taller mounts. I'm a fan. Even if not for professional use, it's just more comfortable.

That being said, it's not for everyone. And it does look kinda dumb (and we all know most of being cool is looking cool).

Here's a little LMT/D.Wilson fun for the day. View attachment 8587696View attachment 8587697
I just got the Arca rail in and I'm very impressed. The cut outs for the M-lok screws are a little sharp but it's a lot less bulky and much more comfortable than the alternative. It also let's you run your bipod all the way out (using the RRS clamp).
Who made the Arca rails/adapters?
I was very frustrated at not finding an Arca-Swiss forend longer than 17”.

Swapped out the BCM upper receiver for a new Forward Controls Design receiver. Bedded the barrel with loctite 620. Action feels nice and smooth now.

BCM upper felt like it was binding while cycling regardless of the gun shooting great and the cam pin wear was very excessive. Upon pulling the barrel out I also noted uneven witness marks from the carrier on the barrel. My guess is the receiver may have been slightly OOS and the barrel threads / hole / face were slightly off axis compared to the raceways in the upper. I know lots of uppers are not perfect and tolerance stacking is a thing, but this was not going to work long term. The cam pin wear shown below is sub 1,000 rounds.

6max is interesting. If we start seeing ammo availability for it I may look into building an upper as well.

Yessir, I decided to go the dies & brass route instead. So far in testing the 58 gr VMAX and 70 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips are shooting really well with AR Comp powder 👍
Ya, I think my next major project after I do my 300blk receivers is going to be a 6.5cm swap upper for my AR10 that way I can shoot both 308 and 6.5cm out of it. The 308 is a 1k upper max and I know the 6.5 could definitely 1500 no problem with a 20-22” barrel.

Just finished last night.
San Tan Tactical receiver set
18” Craddock RTR 6.5 Grendel barrel
Superlative Arms piston
JP Enterprises 6.5 Grendel bolt
POF roller cam pin
Geissele 15” MK4
Geissele SDE trigger
BCM MK2 buffer
Fortis K2 end plate
Magpul K2 grip
NightForce NX8 2.5-20x in ADM mount
HUXWRX Flow 762

Going tomorrow to dial it in. The Superlative Arms carrier was snug in the upper. I don’t recall any other carrier being this snug. I swapped in a couple other carriers (which had already been used briefly and all moved freely). I lubed everything up and worked the carrier. Assembled everything seems fine, but I’m going to take it apart and see if it’s still rough… if it is should I put some rounds through it or should I return it for replacement?
