Does anyone know of a company that makes or will make a carbon fiber handguard for The Fix? I use mine mostly in the winter while hunting, and the carbon fiber would stay warm to the touch. Maybe even lighten the rifle a little as well.
Happy to read the good reviews of the mini fix. The fact that they are creating 6ARC bolts and barrels makes the mini incredibly intriguing for me.
What’s not intriguing is the company that only wants to support their products when they feel like it. They don’t care when or if end users can get parts to make their switch barrel systems actually switch barrel, or get parts like big butts to make them not suck to shoot. They don’t even seem to care when one of their huge dealers can get ARC bolts after they’ve invested tens of thousands of dollars into ordering Proof barrels for support their guns..
You can get a quality aftermarket action that will shoot everything both size Fix’s will and more combined into one system, isn’t limited on AR mag OAL, has better triggers, is easier to swap barrels, and drop it in a MDT HNT26 and have a rifle that’s just as light and handy.
Considering I have been on a multi month wait list for a bolt for my AI AXSA so I can shoot 6.5 PRC….let alone the 223 bolt and barrels that were supposedly coming as well...nothing what you said even phases me.What’s not intriguing is the company that only wants to support their products when they feel like it. That being said I am actually most interested in the mini fix for the 556 capability…the fact that I can throw a 300 black, and eventually 6ARC, into it is a bonus. Being able to shoot a handy bolt gun for cheaper than 1.50 a round appeals to me.
I’m at the point in my life where I don’t have time to build shit, tweak shit, and endless tinker with shit. I want to buy a quality factory gun, throw a quality optic and mount on it, and spend my very limited, and valuable time shooting it. If something is wrong let them fix it.
I know originally many were reporting light primer strikes with the mini fix…but it seems to have been corrected by recent reviews I have read?
Like taking marriage advice from a guy with 5 ex-wives…What do I know though, I’ve only owned 5 Fix rifles.
Well waiting for a factory 308 bolt for my AI, to match up with a Proof 6.5 PRC barrel, evidently is in no way like waiting on a factory Q bolt to go with a Proof 6 ARC barrel. The AI was never intended, designed, or market to do that though. That’s aftermarket conversions so it’s really not relevant to the Fix.
If you’re used to an AI, you’re going to hate swapping barrels on a Fix. It’s why I owned 3 of the things at once, they pretty much suck to swap barrels on. It’s easier to swap on a R700 based aftermarket chassis. With a fix you have to remove like 10 screws to pull the top rail, not lose the bolt catch, pin, or spring, then pull two screws to get the HG off, one of which you can’t get to with a T handle so it’s 1/2 turn at a time unless you want to round shit out with a ball end hex, and then you can finally chuck it in a barrel vise and bust the nut lose.
Knowing what I know now and going back a few years I’d still buy one just because you couldn’t get something comparable otherwise, but today there’s no way in hell I would buy another over a Origin or Impact in a HNT26 or Element chassis. What do I know though, I’ve only owned 5 Fix rifles.

Dude…you’re like a psycho ex girlfriend….they suck, the company sucks, your going to hate it…..I would totally by them again, in fact I owned five of them. But now I would buy something else.
Fuck….move on in Life, let Kevin stop hurting you. Yeesh.
Thanks for your permission. I’ll look for my dead rabbit later.Yes 3 years ago I’d still buy one, but not today. There’s options out there that are better in every way.
Waste your money on what you please though, I really don’t care.

22 ARC and 6 ARC is the ideal Mini Fix paired with the Proof carbon barrels. It also qualifies for the free suppressor promotion. Currently available through our website!View attachment 8407935
Its on the Q website. I thinks its a free can with purchase of the rifle. What's this free suppressor promotion?
If you buy a fix or mini fix you get a free can.. Check the dates with a dealer but I think you only have a couple of weeks left. What's this free suppressor promotion?
In all fairness, the accuracy complaints have been with Q factory barrels, not Proof barrels. Most people are happy making the switch to ProofJust got my fix and I am amazed how accurate and comfortable this thing is! I read up on alot of user feedback and most of it was bad. Heavy bolt lift, poor accuracy from a $3000 rifle, stock fit uncomfortable, folding hinge too hard to deploy, etc... Well I've experienced none of that. This rifle is exactly what I expected for a compact "cool" hunting rifle. Mine is the 308 proof research 20 inch barrel version and First box of ammo thought it (federal 168gr Sierra tactical tip) I'm shooting 0.4 inch 5 round groups. Couldn't be happier, I also got a free thunder chicken suppressor as well

This has been my experience. My Fix was shooting 3-4MOA groups with a variety of ammo and had all sorts of issues cycling/feeding. I want to put a proof barrel in it, but that's gonna be another $1000+ to spend. Honestly, for the price point these guns should just ship with Proof barrels - especially since the accuracy issues with the factory barrels is well documented and widely known. In all fairness, the accuracy complaints have been with Q factory barrels, not Proof barrels. anyone tried sending it back? or is that not possible? This has been my experience. My Fix was shooting 3-4MOA groups with a variety of ammo and had all sorts of issues cycling/feeding. I shouldn't have to make a $3200 rifle into a $4200 rifle just to make it shoot like a $1000 rifle should. I really like the rifle for what it is, but the issues that they have are embarrassing and it seems like nobody even wants to acknowledge it. Hopefully there's a Gen2 in the works.
I sent mine back, they were actually very responsive with the RMA request so that's good. It's been with them for about a month now, no idea how long warranty work usually takes. I think there are a few posts in this thread from years ago where somebody sent theirs in and got it back, but the issues still persisted. I'm just trying my best to stay positive nowanyone tried sending it back? or is that not possible?

I tried to factor that in. I didn't just jump to conclusions when my rifle didn't shoot well the first time. I had multiple shooters try and group with it, used multiple ammo types, checked torque on all the screws in the gun/optic, shot the rifle in a sled/vice, etc. That being said, a lightweight bolt gun is definitely harder to shoot well.Kevin has stated repeatedly that the fix is a sub moa rifle..they should fix it for you.
I will say my mini fix 556 shoots sub moa , but I have to work for it….i made the mistake of shooting it the first time after shooting my AI…which to be honest a toddler could shoot a sub moa group with. Upon shooting the mini fix my first groups were 2+ moa.
When I settle down, and wrapped myself around the gun, I could get it to shoot sub moa with 69, 75, and 77 grain matcj…but shooting the fix for me is a very different experience that shooting a “normal rifle”. All that light weight takes away some coverage for lack of fundamentals.

Odd thing is, my Mini Fix was damn near perfect. It was consistently 1MOA, even with shit ammo. Never had feeding issues either. The only real problem I had was with light primer strikes on certain factory ammo. This leads me to believe that the issues I'm facing are specific to the 6.5CM Fix. Maybe I'm just venting, it's just hard not to be butthurt when you buy an expensive rifle and it performs like ass. It's also weird that these issues are relatively widespread in forums but it's never really addressed by Q. You would think that a company would be more communicative about problems with their products. Either way, I really want to like the rifle - It's amazing in concept but mildly disappointing in reality.
Yours is special though haha. That thing is awesomeDig my Fix! Gave it a little lovin this morning actually.

My sig taper was pretty spot on, if you wanna go all out get a custom one cut by a smith to look seemlessDoes anyone make a 5/8x24 tapper adapter that matches the diameter of the Fix Proof Research barrel. I’m just looking for a clean look using a square shoulder muzzle device. The one I have from Q is a little small.
