I emailed Proof yesterday asking when they would start shipping, got a reply back that they are already in production. Contacted Bugholes and was able to order one in 22cm.I was told they won’t actually be available until November.

I just picked up a "used" (50rds) 22 inch 6.5C B/T off arfcom for $400
Going to have it cut to 17 inches then dimpled...
They are listing a 22” 6cm nowInteresting. I’ve also seen on proofs website they don’t do 22” 6CM so I’m out.

After holding a 16” fix, i am having a hard time sleeping. Gotta make some room and start looking for a used fix. A 20” 6.5 proof barrel will be my end result. Missed a couple local ones but thats ok, i have time. There are a couple drawbacks to the rifle that i wish didn’t exist, but the only one that really bothers me is the mag issue. I do have industrial grade hook/loop in my shop, so maybe tgats the fix to the fix.
As far as kb’s attitude turning certain guys away, if you dealt with morons on a regular basis, tired of the same old questions asked over and over again, you might have some attitude as well. Hopefully when i toss one in my safe, itll have product support and shit ironed out, although it looks like it has.
Wish i known about this rifle in 17’, but i guess i live under a rock.
There are a few for sale on ARFCOM and two that I am aware of local to me all on the used market and all in 6.5CM, I think I've only seen one 308 on the used market around here.

I got bored and impatient waiting on q to deliver a ball knob bolt handle. 7/8" is the perfect size. It's just a delrin ball that I drilled a 15/32 hole about halfway through. It actually fits very snug just as a press fit. Cycling and dry firing with snap caps it feels pretty nice. I may epoxy it and dye it if it works out.
Nice work. As a fellow MacGyver shooter, I applaud you.
Also, you may have given the parent company a new product idea. They can call that the Q-ball.
Heading to Q next Friday to build my Fix. Trying to decide which barrel to go with. Currently have slotted for 16" 6.5CM, but they have said that I can choose any barrel available once I arrive. I know the 16" 6.5CM is a brand new offering from Q, but wondering if anyone has any insight to either talk me into or out of this choice. I mainly will use this for hunting, and moderate long range shooting (sub-1000yds). And this will be run with a Dead Air Sandman-S. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I’d pick the 6.5. I don’t know that they’ll have any other contours, but the 22” creedmoor was too heavy and kinda misses the point of the gun imo. That’s what mine was, and I chopped it to 16 recently. I like it much better.
Has anyone here used their Fix for actual hunting or heavy field use. I'm just curious as to how it functions in the dust, dirt, mud, snow, rain etc. Mine hasn't seen anything other than bench use in preparing for the upcoming seasons, and now that I have some comfort level in the guns ability to shoot, i just was wondering about the reliability in real world situations. I have short barreled 6.5CMs and really like the compactness and lighter weight of them. I was lugging a DT Covert and some heavier customs around for last many years so I'm cutting a bunch of weight so these won't be as forgiving with the heart pumping and lungs chugging. I will be testing them out on a few hunts this fall and can report back, but would appreciate any comments/insight prior to hitting the field.
The upcoming hunts that this will be used on will be in western ranch country on up into the mountains:
Antelope - Very dusty conditions, Mud
Deer - Dust, Rain, Mud, Snow all likely on the same hunt
Cougar - Freezing Rain, Snow, I will probably fall on it a couple times coming up or down the mountains
Bear (spring) - Dust, Rain, Mud
Thanks.
Probably true of the majority of bolt actions when you think about it.Yea just move the bolt up a bit.
Yup, but I’ve never seen a bolt creep up so easily. May need to send it in.Probably true of the majority of bolt actions when you think about it.
Well, do you like hearing? If not, then by all means rock it without ear pro, but i suggest some amplified muffs and brakes be damned. Can hear the critters sneaking up too. Thanks for the responses on using this for hunting. I haven’t shot these unsuppressed yet but I’d agree with a brake and a short barrel that would not be desirable.
I need this in my life. Prefer a proof carbon fiber barrel though. Wish they made a 16”, doubt a 20” would fit in that case. This makes me giggle, so I thought I’d post it. View attachment 7128643View attachment 7128644

I have this thread “watched”.Check back in a week or so, i’ll be chambering a 16.5” proof sendero in 6.5x47 for this gun.

How many fps do you plan on with the x47? My gasser 22” barrel with +2 gas system is only 2550~ iirc, maybe it was 2600 with 130 bergers, rl26 and magnum cci.
Just wondering how that cartridge stacks up against 6.5cm in velocity. Maybe a faster powder would be close in a short barrel without much waste.
Im looking to do a 20” proof carbon in 6.5cm, i hate all the fan boi’s but dollar for doughnuts it tough to beat.
The barrel in the pic lost 180 FPS if I recall correctly with 123 scenars when I chopped it from 22”.
Are you at 16 or 16.5 now?

Had a great time building my 6.5 Creedmoor Fix last week at Q. If anyone has the opportunity to attend a customer build day, I can't recommend it enough. It surpassed all of my expectations. The folks at Q only allow one person to come at a time, and are extremely welcoming/informative. The Fix engineers build the rifle with you, and walk you through the design and concept behind each and every part. Q is doing great things over there! My rifle is a bit of a rainbow because they let me use a one of kind black (instead of gray) butt stock that they had as a sample from the supplier, and the current batch of improved receivers came in lighter than usual. Not conventionally aesthetic, but it's unique to me!
Thanks! I figured black accents were a safe option, and the photograph obviously makes the receiver brighter than it really is. I don't want to speak out of turn or for Q, but they told me that they slightly tweaked a dimension to address the occasional complaint of magazine compatibility issues. They said there was a small number of complaints on early model Fix's, and with the new batch of receivers, it would be a non-issue. I also recall them saying that there was a small change within the receiver that was purely for ease in manufacturing, and had no bearing on functionality. Once again, I'm no expert, and am not speaking on behalf of Q.Looks beautiful! I'm digging the black accents and the lighter colored receiver. Are you able to elaborate on the "improved" receiver? what is different? Thanks.
Damn! That round is hauling balls!!! Great sd too! Good work!My 16” .308 is gettin down with 110 V-max handloads. Makes a spectacle out of a groundhog for sure. View attachment 7131178
