The Fix from Q

So that's acceptable to you? Pay $3K and it's OK if they "fudged" a tolerance or dimension? Luckliy I do not have any issues with my 6.5CM but if I did I would be raising hell.

It's not. I haven't contacted them about it yet but will. Working a lot and after the MDR fiasco the last few years I've just be burnt out on dealing with the bs. It would definitely be nice to see a public comment about it vs dodged questions and smartass comments.

So, what trigger is in the fix? Ar style? Proprietary? Will the ever be a way to upgrade or lighten it?

Proprietary. All the trigger parts are contained in the bolt. I’ve never seen anything remotely like it, and I doubt an aftermarket company would try to monkey with it. I like the trigger for the most part.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Im sure i can get used to it, but even my hunting rigs are 1# triggers or lower, but its similar to my ar triggers, so might feel at home?

Let us know how it goes when you contact them. I sent mine in for heavy bolt lift and was only able to put 6rounds through it, all prime 6.5. First round and it was just as heavy as it has ever been. Second a little lighter, third and it was light and smooth as butter. I don’t know what the hell the issue is. After the third round, my wife was getting upset at me and I do t recall how the bolt lift was. I need to go back out. Quite frankly, I’m irritated to say the least. That and the magwell and I’m pretty annoyed.

I’m so up in the air on the bolt thing. I don’t think mine has it when I’m running the bolt. “Nah its good”... but whenever I shoot something else I’m always like damn, this bolt is heavy lol. I think it could be remedied with an actual knob. I can still blade it but every once in a while it makes me lift my face off the pad.

On a more positive note, just got my half Nelson out of jail :)

Anyone have the 8.5” rail in stock? I had one in my Q cart and 5 minutes later it was out of stock. Searched elsewhere with zero success. Also, when is the big butt gonna hit the store. Ugh, wish stuff was in stock,

What page was the butt mod on? Appreciate the ingenuity and its prob something i could find in stock. Haha

I saw new barrels are up on the store in case people don’t check it daily like I do! Still no 16” light profile 6.5 creedmore i’ve been waiting for though. I’m tempted to just buy a new one and sell it for the barrel.

Order a proof 20”, stockystocks will sell em for 850 and should deliver in October (by proof’s mouth). I know im tempted to

Tag Firearms has 16" proof Carbon fiber 6.5cm and .308 barrels available to pre-order. They told me they're expecting them in the next month or so.

Wtf?!? I just talked to those guys about it 3 days ago and said they were only making 20” and October would be the earliest. I EVEN asked if they were going to make a shorter OR any different size and he said NO. Wtf?

So I asked in the ig story thing and he said if it’s not feeding right they would make it right. Not 100% sure what that means. If you follow on ig check out the questions to see the answers. I think they disappear after 24 hours

I knew that was someone from this thread when I saw that lol

I take that to mean.. If you have a problem... call them.. and they will fix it..

I emailed them about the issues with mine not wanting to feed right from KAC mags. Got the standard answer to try pmags. Well pmags won't allow a 2.85 oal. Back and forth they say send it but they test with pmags and off the shelf ammo. It basically sounded like pound sand otherwise. I sent the pic where the bolt overran the base on a snap cap from a pmag, then they said send it. I did ask why is it listed as sr-25 mag compatible if it doesn't feed from a legit sr25 magazine, no answer. I'm going to load a couple dummy rounds at 2.85 to send in with it along with a kac mag. They can make it right, buy it back, whatever.

It's neat but not enough to deal with a bolt gun that won't feed from mags that semi autos have no trouble with.

Well, I put down the 25% on the 16" Proof with TAG. I absolutely hate pre-ordered anything, because with my luck tomorrow they will be on the Q website, and TAG (whom I've never heard of) won't get them until early 2022.

After the IG questions last night it looks like we are going to have to wait 30k rounds for the Big Butt to become reality. They need to hurry so a few of you can buy it first and "review" it so to speak. I'm just wondering if it will be worth the cost.

I did too, hopefully it won’t arrive too late through this deer season. Luckily I have until December 31st.

I’ve been bugging him on the IG questions. I want the pistol brace for my fix to run a 12.5 inch .308 barrel. Would be sweet to do that rather than cut down my 22” 6.5 barrel

It would still be an SBR; you cant go rifle to pistol but you can go from pistol to rifle and back.
That was the benefit of building the gun myself. As Nick Schafer describes it, it was transferred as a pistol, which can go to regulation length barrel rifle then back to pistol. It was determined that this was ok to do after the US vs Thompson center case

I was ready to get into an internet fight about this, but after doing some reading about that TC case and reading that it was transferred to you as a handgun/etc - I think it sounds a little sketch, but also pretty clever - so I hope it works out for you. The rest of us will probably just sit here jealous that we need to spend another $3k if we want a 12.5" pistol Fix, haah.

Maybe lead with yours is already a pistol. That's why I have a TC contender, I just do what I want.?

Well, free men need not ask permission.

Taking my new to me 18” 6.5 tomorrow. Going to try some factory ammo, but will load after i get some brass. This rifle was a 308, rebarreled and chopped/fluted to 18”. In a few months ill buy a proof carbon fiber if this barrel doesn’t make me happy, but it just might be fine. Don’t mind my dirty ass floor....

With berger factory ammo, 114*, 10 round strings, one sat in the hole for a while while the wind kicked up or the sd was 4.8. 18” factory barrel chopped to 18” and fluted, Omega suppressor and one hot sum bitch behind the trigger. Mirage was horrendous...

I finally found a load my 6.5 Proof barreled rifle likes. 140gr ELD Match behind 41.5gr H4350, Lapua small rifle Primer brass, and CCI 450 loaded to 2.810". Velocity is right at 2750fps.

Both shots out of the group were pulled by me. It's much harder shooting with such a light barrel.

Time to order more bullets....

Same load - bullet, brass and a BR-4 in mine. My velocity is only about 2690 though. Same 24” proof fix.

@Brasscow I have about 200-300 rounds down the tube. Not sure how many you have and if things will speed up with more firing.

I measured velocity with a Magnetospeed. I can't see the primer making a 60 fps difference although it is a magnum primer so it may change the rate at which powder ignites an therefore the pressure curve. That's my best guess....
