Bugholes, Spartan Rifles out of Idaho, LRIJust picked up a mrad in 308 with a mark 8 h58. Barely used, does any custom barrel makers do mrad barrels? I want a 6.5 creed and 300prc. Does anyone have a proof carbon 300prc barrel? How does it shoot?

what was the reasoning behind buying two SMRs when the regular MRAD is a switch barrel? Just curiousTop is .338
Middle is .308
bottom 6.5
barrels were on BO and the shop couldnt give me an ETA, I also have the disposable income, also have 2 M107A1's bought at the same time, cant take the money with me when I die so might as well spend it and enjoy it while im breathing.what was the reasoning behind buying two SMRs when the regular MRAD is a switch barrel? Hey another question came to mind... what are you using as an ammo case for the 33XC rounds when you take them to the range? Thanks.Makers kit "A" is the one you need. I think reaming your current barrel would be the least expensive route and you have the correct bolt face with your 338LM so nothing else to do. Tubb has the Manson Reamer for $220.00.
I really liked the idea of interchangeable calibers but truth be told, once I have a favorite caliber, the other ones rarely see the light of day. I keep my 338NM Barrel around because I love that round and it mag feeds, but the 33XC is just better for the mile plus shooting I'm enjoying. Recoil is a breeze with the Barrett/33XC combo. In fact, when I trained with Chase, he unloaded the bipod and had a relaxed hold with the buttpad just resting on his shoulder. I said, "So you take the full brundt of the recoil" and he said "yes". Allows the rifle to track much better if you don't use ski's. Now if you've seen Chase, his biceps are as big as my thighs, so I was a little hesitant, but I shot fantastically with that method and even after 150 rounds of 33XC that day, my shoulder felt like it did when it started. The MRAD is absolutely perfect for the XC. I believe I've stated before, Chase said I could take my Barrett with that Bartlein barrel and enter KO2M and place. I told him the only problem with that is I would need him spotting since I still lack the experience to manage the wind at those distances.
One more thing, you could actually use the Maker's kit for the 37XC or 41XC when they are back in stock if your lust for ELR isn't cured with the 33XC.
Bought two nice multicam cases from Lungpunch Rigging on this forum. They hold 20 rounds each. Other than that a Peterson brass plastic box without a top.Hey another question came to mind... what are you using as an ammo case for the 33XC rounds when you take them to the range? Thanks.
Love my Area 419 arca rail!Got the TRG bipod installed after getting an Area 419 arca, clamp, and pic adapter. Gun is an “EJ” prefix in 300NM right now. I've only played with Hornady 225 ELD-M moving at 2,900fps, and the results were just okay. I have some Berger 215s I need to get shot soon, and I'm hoping for better results. I've put about 170 rounds through it so far, and it's a smooth-shooting beast. I was hitting a 10” piece of steel at 1,000 pretty consistently. With closer in targets, it’s boringly accurate.
I also have a 338LM barrel for it, but it has the older style bolt without the slot for the bolt pin. I spoke with Barrett and since the 300NM and 338LM share the same bolt head, I should be okay to run the same bolt with both, so long as the bolt headspaces with the 338LM barrel. That would negate any need for the breech conversion kit.
Still looking for a bag rider. Hit me up if you have one to spare!

Is that a Wilcox Rapter? How is it working for you? Do the civilian ones have the lasers dumbed down?Got the TRG bipod installed after getting an Area 419 arca, clamp, and pic adapter. Nope...it's a MARS. I have experience with the Raptar, and I'm not a fan. The user interface is clunky and the overall construction is not as robust as it should be; think metal and plastic together, and guess which one gives first. The user experience with the MARS is much better. I've not messed around with any of the civ versions, but I'm guessing the lasers being dumbed down won't affect the average user. It may limit your ability range past 1,000 (depending on weather), but is that a capability that most people actually need?Is that a Wilcox Rapter? How is it working for you? No one that I know of is making custom barrels. Bugholes and a couple other shops are spinning custom barrels from your barrel makers kit or donor extension. You supply the barrel you want customized along with the extension and barrel nut, and they put it all together for you.Who’s making custom barrels for the MRAD?
Thanks a bunch! Magic link!338 norma is available in SKU: 19420

Mine shoots under a minute pretty easy with the 225 eldm , heres a 3 shot group at 100 when I zeroed( not a great baseline, i know) but I immediately took it to 1580 and then 1900 right after thisAnyone having luck with the mrad in 300 prc using factory match ammo? Is the twist rate fast enough for the .300/225 grain?Mine shoots under a minute pretty easy with the 225 eldm , heres a 3 shot group at 100 when I zeroed( not a great baseline, i know) but I immediately took it to 1580 and then 1900 right after this
Could that be too fast for 225 ELDM?For sure its an 8 i believe
My simplified 'Miller' for the 225 ELDM says 1:8.5, should be good. Have you checked case shoulder jump to throat shoulder? Unsure what's considered 'ideal' for a heavy .3, the 6.5 PRC 150 is arguably 0.002"-0.003" I believe. Or the factory bullet seating depth may not be ideal for the gun's lands as of today? Since you have such a superb seed-chucker, Id even call Hornady and ask them......For sure its an 8 i believe
Sound thinking, good luck.Going to go through the whole thing and make sure everything is tight again. Probably remove my suppressor mount as well to take out as many variables as possible before I call anyone
Anyone having luck with the mrad in 300 prc using factory match ammo? I’m struggling this is with 225 grn hornady match.
Just get your jam length by removing the barrel. I do that with my DT and MRAD barrelsI never had much luck with factory Hornady 225gr ELDM in my 300 Norma. I know, different caliber, but similar enough and same barrel length and twist rate for MRAD barrels in both calibers. My average with the factory 225s was 1.3 MOA at 100m for ten five-shot groups during break in.
I've since shot factory loaded 215gr Berger Hybrids with an average of .6 MOA at 100m for five five-shot groups, factory loaded 245gr Berger Hybrids with an average of .44 MOA at 100m for five five-shot groups, and hand loaded 230 A-Tips at book length with an average of .46 MOA at 100m for five five-shot groups.
No one makes a receiver bushing for the MRAD, so I'm working on using a bore guide to get my jam length with those bullets. Once I have that, I can start playing with seating depths, but I'm not sure if I'll mess around with the 225 ELDMs again.
Also of note, don't be too hard on yourself when it comes to grouping magnums. They're not the easiest to tame, but I'd rather shoot a violent magnum than a tack driver .223.
I know this is old, and forgive me if it’s been answered already, but is the Barrett tool kit fix it sticks? Or are they Barrett’s own product?
They are fix it stix, it includes specific torque limiters that aren’t otherwise available unless someone was dumb enough to pay for a kit and sell the parts that make it unique.I know this is old, and forgive me if it’s been answered already, but is the Barrett tool kit fix it sticks? Pic for thread.
Fix it Sticks components are what Barrett provides with their mk22. I've used them for years now and found them to be among my better tools looking new and shiny long after my Borkas get surface rust and anything from Home Depot has rusted all the way through. Can anyone recommend a good 1/4 in t30 plus socket or bit? I ordered one the other day and it doesn’t fit the barrel clamp screws.
Hello. Was there an instruction on what level can be regulated?I finally got around to installing the two-stage, flat trigger, which actually took about 30 seconds. All I can say is freaking amazing!! Nice defined wall and ZERO creep. I just dropped it in and don't even feel the need to mess with adjusting.
It did come with instructions and I did adjust it after time at the range. https://barrett.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/17231-MRAD-98B-Trigger-Kit_8.5x5.5-ALL_NR.pdfHello. Was there an instruction on what level can be regulated?

If you are a veteran Expertvoice has Proof research barrels for Mrad for a good priceStill waiting for two clone projects to get finished so I caved and joined the MRAD club after almost five years. Two more barrels on the way - hopefully in the advertised 4-6 weeks and not 4-6+ monthsI'm very impressed by the little things so far and looking forward to getting time with it this summer.
Stupidest thing (ignorance is bliss) but how about that safety serving as a thumb rest?!
