I don't drink coffee, however my wife makes up for me and probably another 30 people. She also feels that every day she must fill the dishwasher with coffee cups. Many times, there's more than 10 cups from her use. I can't break her of that. We have, literally, more than 30 coffee cups in a household of 1 coffee drinker.
I will never put it on a track. I just want to get to 70 MPH faster than all the other cars, and I want a HUD for…reasons.
This will literally be a 455 HP speed limit obeying cruiser.

Sadly for the Boomers, modern pony cars handle anywhere from "pretty good for what it is" (hi-po trims of the Challenger) to "constantly stuck behind the dudes in Boxsters, GT-Rs, and M4s waiting for a point-by" (any number of various Mustang and Camaro models).
It's also possible to polish the old turds. Mark Stielow literally wrote the book on this topic when not working his day job developing modern Camaros for GM. A brief summary of his work:

Those are all beautiful cars. Five years ago, $250k might buy one of them. No guess what they're going for at the moment.
I can't speak to the durability of the Mustang or Challenger, but the performance trims of the Camaro will take a beating. They will survive several full track days without needing much beyond some fresh brake fluid and a lot of fuel (add a set of tires for those who are ham-fisted or inexperienced). I know that might not mean a lot to those who haven't done anything beyond the occasional autocross, but this combination of speed and durability was difficult to find at literally any price point two decades ago, and can now be had for about $50k.
Yes, my ZL1 has a small rattle coming from somewhere behind the dash. I promise that anyone will quickly forget about it when the vacuum/boost gauge swings over to the positive half.

Nothing against that at all, and I agree, but I would much rather attempt a factory five race truck build myself and tailor it with exactly what I want. I definitely agree that the mustang seems to be the best of the bang for the buck performance crowd and it is hard to justify going completely custom. Something just talks to me about fabricating something myself and taking it start to finish. Been looking at a factory five race truck if we don't burn things down before the year is out. Saw a guy build it for an estimated 42k in late 2020. Pretty sure that has gone up since then, but I keep looking for deals and will have the cash on hand if things turn the other way. I suppose it matters how bad things get for the economy. Too far and I won't be buying toys at all.

Most people don't have the skills or time to build one though. If you are capable of it, it would be a very rewarding project. HP and money doesnt make up for lack of skill... I have passed many cars that had 2-3x HP as I have, yet, they arent much faster around the track... Most of them wouldnt let me by until they got blue flagged. Their EGO's just cant stand it. In one weekend my buddy and I both were behind the same guy that was driving in his mirrors and was all over the place. The guy ended up making a mistake while doing this and going off track while my buddy was behind him... just because his EGO wouldnt let him let a Miata go by.
At least this is keeping with the spirit of the thread - you have an official shortage of comprehension.

I'm a welder working in the petro/chemical industry. Currently working in the one of the bigger Phillips 66 refineries in the US.
Yesterday morning I was talking with some of the plant folks about the cost of fuel, shortages and the impact that it is and will continue to have on our economy.
This individual shared with me that they are shutting down some other processes to gain more capacity to refine more diesel because there is in fact a shortage. As to how bad it will get, who knows. Personally I'm going to top of all my diesel powered vehicles/equipment and that L tank in the back of my truck. If nothing else it'll save me some money in the long run because it isn't getting any cheaper.

Some of those profits the companies are making will have to be rolled back into building new, state of the art plants. Let's face it, taking crude and producing a product is no longer rocket science.

I'm trying to get a deer fence put up around my garden. Got the holes augered and put up the post I had on hand. Went to my local Farm and Ranch supply store to get some more wood fence post. They were out of fence post and no idea when they would get more. They had one bundle on the side that a fence contractor had ordered a month ago and it was finally delivered today.
Not really a shortage but talk about inflated prices. I went into Lowes to look at windows and I always walk past the lumber area. 2x4x8 are now $8.13. Home Depot is only $6.95, but they look like wet spaghetti noodles.

The auto industry is still in turmoil, and I don't understand it with gasoline approaching $6 a gallon. Last time visiting this thread, I was shopping for a Toyota 4Runner. No new models to be had. Found a 2021 with 19K miles, with the exact color and configuration I'm wanting. Unfortunately, they want the same price for a used one as they do a new one. I try to reason with them and say why should I pay a new car price for a used model, but they won't budge on price, nor as I'm discovering that no dealers will budge on price, whether new or used. Probably a good thing as the 4Runner is a heavy pig, and is equal in performance. So I went back to shopping for a used Tundra, and that market is no different. I found one I wanted up in Billings Montana, exact model and color, etc. I said I'd take it pending pictures of the inside of the bed, and waited, and waited for pictures. I inquire a couple hours later about pictures, and still no pictures. Next morning sales lady texted me saying, sorry it's sold. WTF??? I said I'd take it pending a simple picture.

The frustrating part is even if you order you can’t get exactly what you want. The packages are retarded. If I want a heads up display, then I have to get the package with racing brakes and shit. Don’t want retarded ass racing brakes.
They want to charge $499 for “floor liners”, but only take $50 off for not having heated and cooled seats.

Why not wait? Demand should be coming down and hopefully the prices will follow. The big retail stores had a bad earning report and said it was due in part to big ticket items stacking up in the warehouses rather than moving out the door. That seems to be an early indicator of a big slowdown. It seemed like that was a common sign among all of the big ones - target, wal-mart, costco, kohl's, and a couple more. I think down 10% was the lightest I heard on profit. The housing market is slowing down. I think I heard 15% reduction in home sales. I don't think I have heard a single piece of news stating a sector was tearing it up unless you consider politicians a sector.

Any V8 equipped vehicle should be losing value on a daily basis with gas prices going up 1/10 of a dollar almost every day. I read an article a few days ago and they reported the 5 top priced used cars in the market today. All 5 were more than 10% over the price of the same vehicle if bought new. The top car was somewhere north of 12%
