the Russians are the bad guys. Dont forget the narrative. Sure, they let the huge tranny live and didnt even torture it, while our side murders journalists and blows up the daughters of Pro-Russian writers, but dont forget the narrative dammit.
I heard something about that. But also, despite the MSM narrative, the Russians are fighting this war very efficiently with their professional army. they arent throwing new conscripts into human wave attacks.
Russia learned it's lesson with teenage conscripts in the first Chechen war. they wont repeat that mistake again.
Just to add a tiny bit - it looks like at this time, Russians are mostly using paratroppers and naval infantry (aka marines in the "west") for an active warfare in the field. From a bit of personal experience - naval infantry guys are the real bad ass troops, when I've lived in the USSR, these guys were nicknamed "elks", all of them were big in size and looked very physically strong in appearance. These troops are the most trained in general, and are known to have a very pronounced "killer instinct" embedded into them. In the USSR times, no man in the right mind would mess with such "elk", regardless if such a man was a trained fighter or else. Of course, these are not the only troops Russians are currently using...

I enjoy Russian wit. Elk. never heard that. I know that ineffective GRU agents are called "Borzoi" and are sent to do all the legwork on dirty missions. A Borzoi is a dog with strong legs and a tiny, tiny brain.
Possibly, you'll like something else. Russia actually had/has its own "Gurkas". From a very remote Siberian region called Tuva, close to Mongolia.
If you have nothing to do and wanna learn something interesting, just google "Tuva" and "Great Patriotic War", you know the drill. An interesting historical note - all troops (which were volunteers only) formed in Tuva in 1941 were recalled back from the front in 1944 because, per reports, they killed too many Germans while not taking any prisoners. I certainly do not know if this was true or there were other reasons for this recall.

Gonzalo did some really silly things like live streaming his escape attempt and saying he was planning to cross to Hungry, which has a very short boarder with Ukraine and limited crossings. Not saying he deserved to die for that but he never really seemed to understand the danger he was in. He also didn't, per my understanding, seek help with the Chilean embassy who were a lot more sympathetic to his cause and did try to help unlike the US.

There are few people with strong moral principles in the world and regardless of whether one agrees or not he sure stood firm. Some would say borderline insanity as result was almost guaranteed but in the end he did open quite a few eyes even with his death. If anything there is no one credible on the planet that can claim (and be taken seriously) that all people are equal before the law. In light of such double standard it becomes almost funny looking at MSM pundits spewing their shit and as your elections showed VAST majority of population in America knows who their enemy is. It will come a time when silent majority won't be so silent anymore.
I didn’t either, but he had some vaild points when it came to this conflict. That didn’t tow the Ukraine propaganda line. It’s not like he was outstanding in the street blocking traffic or lighting buildings on fire. He was just making videos and posting them online.

The collapses always happen fast, are Ukies there i think not yet but you never know once snowball starts it will grow and grow. Recent desertions and “withdrawals” of entire units were more or less patched. The few motivated rabid nazi units are still relatively powerful and mobile enough to plug the leaks. For how long more one would need serious intel (real one not fabricated one) so all we (outside those in charge) can do is guess.

Speaking of war changing events that didn't happen, anyone see any evidence of the F-16s being used at all?
I think in theory, any hypersonic missile can be intercepted by sufficiently powerful and perfectly aimed laser beam. An obvious issue - who will be able to develop and deploy such laser based systems in sufficient qtys in the nearest 5-10 years?
Define intercepted? As in tickled by the ray, exploded, diverted, neutralized?
A mass of metal traveling at those speeds cannot be touched in any other meaningful way but tickled until impact. A nuke high up impacted by kinetic interceptor - perhaps but in descending part of trajectory its useless and wont do shit.
By now it should be clear to anyone that “top gun” stories are not real and that most if not all western designed systems are expensive pieces of overhyped stats that in real world do not perform as expected - bradley being an exception.

I think when talking about interception, it may be kind of logical to use the word "exploded". But, and I perfectly know this myself, I'm no expert.
At any rate, it looks like Russia is far ahead in missile technology, both in quality and in quantity, and they spent their money wisely.
Also, Russia appears to like using various "change flight direction" tricks in their missile designs, so "perfectly aiming" at their missiles will be a challenge even by a laser system. For example, I was always a pretty decent clay pigeons shooter, 23-24 out of 25 was a norm, but when it was time for me to shoot at live flying ducks, I've failed miserably when trying to hit a duck that actually changed its fly path any way a duck wanted.
