The communication logs released in June 2023 have been confirmed to be fake.
Like most Hollywood celebs he has a really high opinion of himself. He is surprised the coast guard investigation doesn't want to talk to him!

Like the Coast Guard doesn't have access to material scientists with a lifetime of working with composites and structural engineers who are, like, you know, actually certified to sign off on engineering drawings as well as access to experts of SAR & Undersea rescue.
Look, I like the guy for the exploration stuff he has done, but FFS he's a movie director who made a bunch of money, not a trained engineer with a couple of decades experience. At best he would be a decent project manager, which he did display when he went to deepest part of the Marianas Trench.
By his definition I am a superior weapons designer cos I spun up a few rifles using bit other people designed and manufactured.
Well maybe he wants to honor Stockton's tradition of no knowledgeable engineers will have anything to do with the Titan. Even posthumously.
