Tikka T1X

What about the action on CZ felt better? I've not had a chance to try out the new 457 but my T1x is a huge improvement over my CZ 452.
The T1 factory trigger should adjust down to 2lb, not what most would consider heavy.
My 457 action is a lot smoother, and the bolt lift is easier. Albeit I have an aftermarket bike knob. My cz breaks at 18oz, his t1x breaks at over 3lb by my guess. I'll put a scale on it next time I'm round.

T1/T3 trigger should be adjustable down to 2lb. But a Yo Dave spring is a cheap easy solution regardless.

Regarding the FTE issue: I got mine back this week from Beretta Service, and put a hundred thru it today - only one FTE. Still not flinging the casings 10 feet, most about a foot or so. The CCI SV seemed to actually eject the best. One of my magazines was bad, and that was replaced. No detailed explanation on the receipt. Dialed back in nicely.

What was the turn around time? At least for now, I have the FTE problem with my 17 fixed. It probably won't last and expect to have to send it off sometime in the future.

T1x Stock spring, adjusted all the way out to the point of a bind on the Mother Screw and it breaks at 1 lbs 5 oz without a safety issue. Will install a lighter spring from Mountain Tactical. Hope to get it closer to 1 lbs.

Same trigger system on my T3X 223. Put in a Yo Dave spring, backed it out all the way and still getting it only to 1 lbs 8 oz. go figure.

I got to shoot a T1X today. My buddy bought one and put a 3-9x40 Leupold on it. The action and trigger aren't as good as my CZ457, but it showed some serious accuracy potential. Shot several 1/2" groups @ 50yds with CCISV. The action might break in a little, but even adjusting the trigger all the way down it was heavy. I told him he needed a YoDave spring or something.
The Tikka action will works itself in. All three of mine have. When I first got them and the bolt was oiled up I could hold the rifle muzzle up and the bolt would not drop. Now they all drop with ease. The only action I have that is smoother than my Tikka's is my Anschutz 1813 and it's a single shot. Even my 1710 XLR and 1712 are not as smooth when trying to feed a round off the magazine.

BTW, they are all smooth when just moving the bolt back and forth, the real test is feeding a round off the magazine. That's been my experience.

Howdy Gents... I actually picked up one of these T1x preowned today, was curious if anyone has tried either the Area419 or Murphy Precision Mounts? Also, I have a Bravo Chassis on my T3, so am considering that chassis for this but am curious about the Mag function on that. I read through a ton of the posts to see if I could answer these questions, but was not all that productive. Thanks in advance!
No Area419 or Murphy for me (to much money for what they do) I do have one DIP rail and one Mountain Tactical rail, both work just fine and cost a lot less than the others. Can't help with the chassis.

A few pages back I have some photos of the Area 419 rail installed. Very nice piece, would purchase it again.

The Bravo chassis that your T3 is in right now will not be a drop in fit. You will need to have it milled for some clearance. There are photos in this thread on much earlier pages.

I would just buy a T1X dedicated Bravo that just came back in stock. Would be a perfect compliment to your T3 setup as a 22lr trainer.

Sounds good man, the 419 is what I went with. An saw the T1 Bravo is in stock, so thanks for the info.

Played around with my T1X this weekend. Discovered that my suppressor actually doubles my group sizes, so I ended up shooting my local benchrest match without it. I shot using the Federal GMM, and it performed really well. Unfortunately when I switched to the second target at 100yards, I wasn’t paying attention to the wind and ended up stringing them all to the right. Overall I’m happy with the performance of the rifle, and how it groups. This was my first time shooting any type of match, and it seemed to keep up with the Anschutz rifles as far as accuracy goes.
Can anyone recommend a quality rimfire suppressor that shouldn’t open up my groups? I’m currently using a TacSol Cascade, I know it isn’t the nicest out there, but it was my initial plunge into the wonderful world of suppressors.

Just wait until you get a few hundred rounds through it. I can consistently hit the 1/4 steel target on a KYL rack at 50 yards. With the Eley or lapua ammo it likes my groups are consistently .3 or less with a 5 shot group if I do my part. It is an amazing rifle for the money. I’m amazed and love it even more ever time I shoot it. It’s honestly my favorite rifle to shoot that I own and I have quite a few in both rimfire and centerfire

I have somewhere around 600 rounds through it now, but I pulled a bore snake through it after 500 simply because those were trying out different types of ammo to see what it liked. I wasn’t sure if the CCI clean polymer coated stuff would mess with accuracy of the Federal GMM or not. I am definitely amazed at the accuracy of the rifle for the price, and I’m glad I picked this up. Now it’s just a question if I leave it in the factory stock, or swap it over to a Bravo or Oryx (if it ever releases).

Hi everyone, been lurking this thread for some time, but haven't been able to find a T1X locally. I just started doing NRL22 competitions with the hopes to also do PRS some day (long drives and no accessible ranges > 200 yards) so NRL22 is my current focus. I have a Tikka CTRx, and the hope was to do a KRG Bravo for that.

So I was also going to do a KRG Bravo T1X.. Share all the arca accessories and atlas bipods, etc.

So that should get me a setup ~ $1000 for T1X, Rail, KRG Bravo, Arca Rail/Clamp.

If I go the vudoo22 route then that's $1800 for the action, and $500 for the krg stuff... what's that $1800 going to get me and I'm going to be missing a lot / be significantly an underdog? Seems like the T1X is already a shooter and has a pretty smooth action.

Thanks.

Honestly, unless you want to say, "hey I got me a Vudoo", then save your money and get the Tikka T1x. I have no experience with the Vudoo so I can't compare the two but I would be hard pressed to believe the Vudoo is "that" much better than the Tikka. Nothing wrong at all with the Vudoo, I like them and would like to have one someday and probably will. Do I need it...no, not at all but it's different.

Like EodDave said, I can also hit my 1/4" KYL target at 55 yards "almost" every time. I don't have !/4" guns so I don't hit it 100% but probably 8 out of 10 shots I can hit it. That's just being honest about it. Now go get that Tikka T1x on GunBroker and don't look back.

Here is my range setup and my KYL targets.

Checked the Oryx website at lunch, and the T1x was listed. Ordered and shipped ... :)

AKdodge88,
I have tried probably 15 types of ammo in my rifle. I will say most shoot well but Lapua Center X and Eley Edge have been the best. The Lapua shoots a little tighter group at 50 (and I mean a tiny bit better). The Eley Edge performs much better at long range though so that one is the winner for me. I have also found the both Wolf ME and CCI SV shoot good enough for practice ammo.

Littlepod,
Honestly as Kissofdeath said the only reason to buy a Vudoo is if you want to say you have one or really want a stock that isn’t available for the Tikka. My rifle shoots just as well as the Vudoo’s at the matches

I would love to try Lapua Center X or Eley Edge, unfortunately my local FFL doesn’t stock those, and shipping to an Alaskan island is ridiculous.
I agree CCI SV shot good enough for practice, considering I had to pay $13 a box for my my Federal GMM 922A...... apparently I’m the first person to buy any in a couple years, and they haven’t restocked it since 2014-15.......... In another payday or two I’ll be buying their last brick or two?.

Thanks for the tip, ordered one as well. Apparently the email in stock notification didn’t work.

Bam, tracking notification for KRG Bravo. Ordered last Thursday at noon and expected delivery of this Friday.

That $25 shipping isn’t making it get here any quicker haha. Maybe I’m just ruined with Amazon 2 day delivery.
Move to Alaska, and you’ll lose all faith in shipping estimates?. We’ll see how long it’ll take to get my Oryx.

Good looking out ... Been waiting and saw the other day it would be soon but apparently the notifications arent being sent yet. Just placed my order - don't tell the Mrs! Just need to decide on glass (Midas tac or PST Gen2)
I didnt get a notification either. The midas tac is worth more than the asking price while I think the vortex is lacking personally at its price.

The first NRL22 match I shot with my t1x i had less then 20rds down the barrel, a leupold vx-2 6-15 lr duplex, no rail and everything was stock on the rifle. just took it out to see if I needed to throw some money into it to have it replace my Sako Finnfire or if it would be my new meat 22. Well came home with 2nd place that day ( score keepers mixed up my paper score with another shooter , would have had 1st) and there were plenty of voodoos there shooting lapua midas and a ton of custom tricked out CZ's .

Also remember that on average it takes 10% less torque to loosen a bolt than to tighten it to the same spec.

Emailed Stoeger Canada (Tikka distributor) and they mentioned that Tikka hasn’t released the torque specs on those grub screws, however the person replying mentioned that he torqued his to 80 in-lbs after removing and reinstalling and there was zero affect on accuracy.

Wow, I would not go that high...
I installed my t1x in Boyd’s at one stock and I torque the action screw at 35in-lb. it shoots 1/4 inch at 25yd indoor any day.

I used 65 in-lbs. I believe that is what KRG suggests.

No I was referring to the grub screws. Not the action screws.
This is how @johnkmcguire97 did his. He may be able to shed a little more light on it for you.
No, I do not own a 10-22. Purchased this barrel just for this purpose. I bonded the barrel in with Loctite 620 and left the set screws lightly touching the barrel. 620 is what I use to bond in my AR barrels.

Approx. same order time and my tracking says it will be here tomorrow. ?

Rifle is due in on Friday too. If the rail shows up too, I'll be GTG by Saturday morning. ?
