In my matches, a few shooters had feeding issues with their MPA Vudoos, but it was identified that they were resting their rifle on the magazine, and that caused the feeding issues. After they stopped doing that on the stages I haven't seen them have any feeding issues in the last few matches.

The Vudoo also has a slightly longer throw, it's more than a .22, but shorter than a SA centerfire. So people might be short throwing things which could also cause feeding issues. The T1X I believe is a standard .22 throw, and the Ruger RPRim, can actually do a .22 throw, or a full centerfire SA throw, you can configure it.

I apologize if this has come up already, but searching this thread doesn't show if it has.

I'm currently a developing shooter and I'd like to get a bolt action .22 rife for more advanced accuracy practice. Reviews, price, and local availability (saving shipping and transfer costs!) all say that the T1X would be a very good option. How does it compare in stock format to CZ's offerings in bolt action rimfires (also stock)? I think the ones with similar features lists to the T1X would be the CZ 455 Tacticool Suppressor-Ready and the CZ 457 Pro Varmint, but any input for any CZ455 or CZ457 model would be appreciated.

@Eoddave27 I have shot with all of the people currently shooting Vudoo's in our series at some point this season. I have seen it happen to all of them on occasion but it is something related to the shooter 90% of the time. The one consistent feeding issue is the one in the MPA. The Manners and the XLR have been fine.

I figured the guys I seen have issues with the Vudoo rifles were more shooter error than the rifle. As I said above the ones I have seen were the less experienced shooters. At any rate I don’t think that any rifle will run 100% all the time when you introduce human error into the mix. I know I have had a feeding issue at some point and I would guess it was all me and no fault of the rifles.

Having owned the CZ455 tacticool and the Tikka T1x, out of the box, I like the CZ. The Tikka stock is garbage in my opinion. That being said, I put the Tikka in an MDT chassis and it is pretty accurate at 50 with most of the 5 shot groups being one hole or touching. I currently use it for NRL22, but I plan to sell soon and go with a Vudoo.

yeah, i think we could run down the list of all top 11 competitors (had to squeeze myself in) and pick out a match or stage where the human error crept in. I think we all use pretty solid equipment and it really boils down to the shooter on any given match. looking forward to these last 2 matches and then spending time getting all my crap straightened out for next year.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to the last two matches this year. My goal for my first year was to finish in the top 10 which it looks like I will as long as I don’t take a dump in the last two matches. I’ve already put Lou on notice that I’m coming for him next year though ?.

Thanks. Can you pin down anything in particular about the T1X's stock...stock that you didn't like? Too short, too heavy? The action sounds like it works quite well if you can shoot one-holes at 50 (yards or meters?).

It is small, slick, and feels like it was made from the thickness of drinking straws. If you want something light though, it would definitely work.

It would be perfect for a kid going squirrel shooting in my opinion. I'm happy that they didn't spend ANY money on the stock, as 90% of the people will junk it for something that they want that fits them.

Let's say we ignored the stock.. for $460, for a Tikka T1X Barreled Action w/ Trigger. Would you buy it? I would and did.

You can buy an at-one boyd's for it, for $200, and put the total cost to $660.
You can buy a Bravo for $360, and put the cost to $820

Jeep what are you aiming at by moving to the Vudoo? Just curious. Getting a vudoo in MPA or in MDT?

I had a CZ455 in an MPA and now have a T1x in an MDT. I actually preferred the CZ/MPA combo but gave it to my 14 year old for NRL22. No taking it back. Both are fine rifles but I know quite a few who own Vudoo and not one of them regret it or would go back. While accuracy is primarily the indian and not the arrow, it’s nice to know my arrow is straight. Will it result in more than a hit or two per match? Probably not.

I did the same thing and really like it. I use mine for fun, informal sporter benchrest matches and the beavertail forend makes it ride the front bag much better.

Oh man, that new Bergara Rimfire copy of the V22 looks pretty tempting for only $900 street price. If you could sell the stock for $200ish, means the barreled action would be only $700. Curious how it shoots, but I could see that definitely eating away through the CZ457 and T1X. I haven't received my $325 new IBI barrel, but already have some hesitancy now that I could've put that maybe towards the Bergara. I wonder if their mid Nov date is going to be true.

Ah I thought people really liked the AICS magazines so they could have the same muscle memory as centerfire work. We'll know more around Thanksgiving timeline hopefully. Some good 15% off sales during Black Friday for things like the MDT ACC chassis. The Bergara BXR reviews were pretty not so good, so I am curious how their V22 knock off is like.

Their centerfire though I have always heard good things about. I almost bought one since it was only $900 vs my T3X's $1000, but most people told me the Tikka action was much slicker, so that's what I did.

Those larger mags are ok for people who use those for their centerfire rifles but that doesn't apply to me. They are also needed for the AICS types of Rem 700 stocks.

But, for my use I'd rather have the smaller ones like Tikka has or Anschutz has or Sako has or CZ has or Kimber has, pretty much anyone else.

Truth is, I'll probably end up with one anyway just for the customization options alone.

You mean like R700 customizations? Luckily Tikka has a great deal of those, so I don't see a reason why I'd go Bergara/R700. Timney 2-stage, Bix&Andy, and KRG Midas trigger is enough triggers to select from. KRG Bravo / MDT ACC is enough chassis support for all my needs.

Oh separately, spoke to Ryan, and ended up with the Win52D barrel. He mentioned if it doesn't perform as well as the Eley EPS or I have any concerns, I could swap it with the Eley EPS barrel when they get their reamer replaced in a few months. Excited to put everything together in a few weeks when it arrives... now I need to buy new higher rings since my scope won't clear the new barrel I believe...

Nope. More than a Tikka w/ a chassis change. Most the way to a Vudoo. These Tikka's shoot. We're just perfectionists and I bet some "issues" begin to come w/ the Vudoo once the honeymoon period is over. I do hope it's a shooter and forces more competition in .22 PRS rifles. It's good for all of us. But not this one for me. Drop the price to sub $800 and a street of $700 and you have a winner. This is NOT a CZ.

I recently pillar bedded the factory stock using the lockdown bedding kit from High Velocity Hunting AU. I took the Tikka to the range for the first time since this past weekend with interesting results.

Accuracy wise, everything was great, but every single mag I used, no matter the ammo type, had a failure to feed on the last round. I shot SK pistol match, rifle match, flat nose match, and long range match, and they all had this issue. Interestingly, if I put the last round back in to the magazine, it would feed just fine, but not if 9 other rounds had been in there before.

I haven’t done any deeper research, but was wondering if the group here might have any insight as to what might cause this. Action screw torque is set to 44 inch pounds as per the manual.

I'll be curious how the new B-14R shoots. Having just bought the T1X, I'll hold off on for now, but it's on the short list. I have an HMR in 6.5 and it shoots well and I like the stock setup on it. It'd be nice to be able to set up a .22lr the same way eventually. I'm not big into the competition scene, but I could see how this would be an attractive option for someone like myself wanting to get into it.

@Jefe's Dope - Rumor is they are supposed to be releasing barreled actions, no stock sometime around January? They'll come out after the main rifles are released and we'll have accuracy reports by then. I'd think the barrel action would drop a few hundred off the street price without the stock.

Given how thin / long that Tikka is, I've seen a good deal of effects of harmonics and what not have an effect with this barrel. @Eoddave27 also witnessed the same thing. I run the SilencerCo Sparrow on mine, and it reduced my groups by about 30%. You could pick up something like


And see if it shrinks your groups, and it might look cooler at the same time.

I had a flash hider on mine and it raised groups high and right as well as opened them up. here is the example with Norma mach ammo

I have the Oryx chassis and really like it. With the Oryx and the Sparrow suppressor, it shoots amazingly well.

That's interesting that it moved things that much. I put the DIP compensator on mine before firing a shot as well. I keep thinking that I should shoot with it removed but it has shot so incredibly well that I haven't had any reason to.

Thats what i thought it was very interesting kinda wanted it to be a clone of the 6.5 and muzzle brake was M4-72. but that was the best group it shot so i took it off and went right back to shooting small groups.

First groups with my T1x after dropping it into the Bravo. 50 yards with CCI SV. Thoroughly cleaned right before this so the first two rounds were a little off but it settled in quickly. It was fairly windy but it calmed down as I shot #5 and 6. Groups are numbered in the order I shot them. The flyer on 7 was wind, flyer on 8 was all me. The better groups are right at 0.25". Can't complain about that at all for being cheap ammo. Action screws torqued to 35in/lbs.

Looks really good. Just wait until you put some better quality ammo through it. Mine shoots CCI SV pretty well. I use it for practicing positional shooting out to 100 yards and it is great for that and cheap. If you keep an eye on LAX ammo for free shipping you can usually get it for $20 a brick. Now put some Eley or Lapua ammo through it and it will be a whole new level of accuracy.

I typically use Green Tag for NRL because it's available locally. I've done some testing and SK Rifle Match shot really well for me. I have a few boxes of Eley Target, Eley Edge, Center-X, and Wolf that I've been waiting to try but it's been hunting season here so all of my free time has been spent in the hills for a few weeks. It's also been really windy so accuracy testing has been a bit pointless. (Why is it always windy in Idaho? Because Utah sucks and Oregon blows:)

Are there any single-stage aftermarket triggers available for the Tikka? All I'm seeing are 2-stage options from KRG, Timney, and Bix n Andy. I have a single stage Timney flat shoe on my 6.5 build that I love. I feel like I could shrink my groups even more if I had the same trigger on my T1x.
