For me, has to be rigid enough to not move due to sling pressure. That eliminates two piece stocks, folders, etc. Of course YMMV.

That option gives you the ability to design modular a 'buttstock' and 'forestock' systems of any type desired to include, perhaps, a folding system.
Then the forestock's can also be modular with many different options. Ex: you could have one setup for benchrest, F-class, NRA, etc.
You could mix and match buttstocks and forestocks depending on hunting, competition or other uses.
To answer the question:
a rigid stock would be adequate. A folding is a nice to have.</div></div>
