Tikka T3 Thread

I just recently bought a Tikka T3X Tac A1 and also just backordered a Q Trash Panda for it. I am an absolute noob when it comes to suppressors so I apologize for any stupid questions here but do the compensators that come with the Q Trash Panda adapt the suppressor itself to the barrel? My Tikka is a 6.5 Creedmoor and the Trash Panda is rated for 7.62.

Yes, the Trash Panda comes with Cherry Bomb compensators in both 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 threads. The Tac A1 has a 5/8x24 muzzle thread.

So, cherry bomb goes on the muzzle and the trash panda threads onto the external threads of the cherry bomb. You're good.

There was a company from Norway making a rail that bolted on but also slid onto the dovetail rail. It looked amazing. Sadly they folded. No one had picked up the mantle.

Maybe something Near could look into as they make the Sako 75/85 rails that slip on the dovetails.
You mean this one?: https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...t-rail-for-a-tikka-t3x.6586550/#post-10647586

The Vision are very much still going.

And that thread has links to lots of other different rails ...

Just how precise are factory T3x CTR barrels?

Honestly, I'm only getting like 0.9 MOA with 140gr ELD-M from my T3x CTR in a KRG Bravo. It could definitely just be me though, so I'm curious what everybody else is getting.

This is pretty standard with factory ammo for mine Hornady 140s.

I need to get out and shoot mine again (also in a Bravo). I know 147s were close to what you're getting and 140s were around .75.

I found 136 Lapua Scenars to be closer to 0.5-0.6. Sako makes a factory round using those that might be worth a shot.

I've got a CTR in 308 that I bought for a competition gun when I have to play secondary shooter in 223 or 308. I plan to put it in a KRG Bravo for those competitions, but I also like the idea of the KRG Bravo because I can set it up for use with night vision for coyotes. Has anyone here set their krg bravo up for something like that? Currently, it's just scoped with a bipod and I was leaving it lightweight for a competition that I'm going to miss now unfortunately. So now, I'm ready to get everything swapped out and setup with the hopes of being able to identify and shoot a coyote at 400 yards or as far away as the night vision setup will allow me to see. Picture for attention.

That's crazy! Is it the factory barrel?
Yes. That's an early 20 inch T3x CTR. It's my hunting rifle. Still in the factory stock. I have a 24" sitting around too that I've never fired. Bought it when they first came out to build into something and haven't gotten around to playing with it yet. Will be finally ordering a scope for it soon. (I usually have too many projects floating around and too many hobbies. )

This is an Internet forum, not a Facebook Group lol. No need to post a pic for attention in a discussion thread.

Getting the bug to build my Tikka into an NRL Hunter rig (open-light)... Thinking Grayboe Phoenix for the stock... I'll need to either pickup CTR or AICS (MountainTactical) bottom metal. I already have some nice AICS mags for my PRS gun, but the compact CTR mags seem appealing both on a bag and the belt - I've never used CTR mags though. Which way to go?

Stick with aics. If using anything other than the factory stock.

The CTR magazines are fantastic. There are those who don't like them for some reason, but I think they are some of the best magazines available for a tikka. They work great in other non factory stocks also. Don't discount them. They are basically aw style mags made specifically for Tikkas. Double stacked so they are lower profile. They feed well. I can fit 10 6.5cm or 308 rounds in mine, or if I want to run them in my 6.5prc they hold 7. You would have to dedicate the mag to the cartridge if you have to adjust the feed lips like I did for my prc. They feed just like the factory stock when in a krg bravo chassis also.

I second this. I've been using aics style mags for competition since I'm running a chassis but if I were building a Tikka in a stock for hunting or a general purpose rifle, I'd WANT to use the CTR mags. They're awesome.

Personally, I didn't notice much difference in my 6.5 CM going from CTR mags to MDT AICS mags when I got my Bravo Chassis.
At the time I bought the Bravo, the CTR Mag option had not hit the streets yet, so I got on the AICS bandwagon early in my journey.

They can both feed great. To me it's a form factor. I prefer aw style mags and these fit that bill nicely

Have y’all found any type of bolt fluting that effects the smoothness of the action?
I like the look of LRI’s wrought iron option but if it’s going to effect the smoothness of my action in any way I’d choose something else.

Bonus for pictures of your fluted bolts.

You should call LRI and talk to them about it.

LRI Tikka bolt with wrought iron fluting. Cerakoted graphite black. Smoothness is the same.

LRI does great work.

Here is another report we'd like to share, from one of our customers in Sweden:

"It is absolutely crazy. Never been able to get such groups before. Todays best was 3.3mm. All of the groups less than 10mm. Hand loads but still extremely good for standard rifle and standard barrel. Never cleaned the barrel 😂😅"

.308 Win, hand load, standard Tikka barrel, MT30 stock. Guess that's a rather cool step up with a simple swap of a stock, what do you think?

How to do like the Burris 3-18?
So far so good. Illumination isn’t daylight bright, but I feel like I can see the reticle ok on low power in daylight. FOV and glass is pretty good. I’ve taken it to 1000 yards with my PRS rifle and that tikka when it was a 300 win mag. It’ll get some work bear hunting this spring

Maybe I missed it/read it before, but I can’t find it again.

Can a T3X Lite be cut down and threaded for a can? Or leave we’ll enough alone.
Yes. 9/16-18 or just sent it to Thunderbeast for a face mount brake install(uses muzzle face for shoulder). 1/2-28 only on smaller than 6.5.

I just ordered a t3x lite for hunting and am looking for a Manners or McMillan stock for it. Which one would you guys recommend that wouldn’t be too heavy?
The factory stock ain’t bad. I was thinking if the same thing. For hunting, a Manners MCS-T isn’t bad, or the EH1 with elite fill. Or a KRG Bravo

the bravo is a bit heavy for hunting. also check out mesa tactical precision, their altitude stock. i have two for my tikka's and another one on the way.

Some backcountry hunters / field match competitors have found fluting the bolt can lead to more stuff getting caught in the bolt and action, reducing the otherwise great smoothness and reliability ... there are a few threads that mention this over on Rokslide.

Factory options sometimes come threaded in M15x1. I've had a few cut down and threaded to M14x1.

A 223 down to 18", and a 6.5 Creed to 20" (or about 20.5" if you go just in front of the fluting on a Superlite), with a 164 g / 5.8 oz titanium suppressor is a wonderful thing ...

I have two different stocks (greyboe phoenix and Boyd’s varmint) and I have to use a shim under the front of the factory T3x bottom plastic so the mags will snap in place. Have anyone else had to do this? Would one of the aftermarket bottom metals fix this problem? Could someone measure they’re aftermarket bottom to see if there are any variations?

I had mine fluted and coated by LRI. No change in the smoothness or function.
