If they are mounted like the CTR you'll have to heat them.I have a Tikka Tac a1 and a T3 receiver. I was planning to install a PVA barrel on T3 receiver and put it in the Tac a1 chassis, and then move the CTR barreled action to a manners as a hunting rig. Just realized how tall the picatiney base of Tac a1 is. How difficult is it to remove those screws, I’ve heard bad stories on here.
Yes they are glued on with some kind of translucent looking goop that's tuff to get off. Thanks for sharing your experience. I take it these are glue on with epoxy? Is reasonable to expect that I might be able to move this rail to T3 action? Are T3 and T3x Ctr drilled the same? Beginning to rethink this project...

Man it would be great if Tikka would come out with a 24” ctr in 6.5 prc. Would save me so much money vs having a builder do a barrleled action hahaha.
Any input on whether the ctr mags would work with 6.5 prc factory ammo? Haven’t had any in hand to measure but from what I’ve read it will be very very close.

My T3x CTR has five screws 3 at the back and 2 up front and two very small recoil pins that are removable. The large recoil lug was not used on the x version even though the receiver still has the large lug hole the bottom of the CTR rail is not recessed for the large lug.
My T3 lite has 4 screws and a large recoil lug.
Most aftermarket rails are drilled for the four hole pattern and some have the large recoil lug machined in so you just leave out one of the rear screws when you use one of them on the X ctr.
If you use the ctr x rail on a standard t3 you'll lose the recoil lugs if that matters.
Some say it makes no difference but I use rails with machined in lugs.
Mourning,
I follow this Tikka thread a lot, good stuff. These stock questions and answers are always good for the thinking cap. I have moved to the TX3 COMPACT in 22-250 for my varmint rifle. CTR will be my next purchase this week. My brothers CTR in 308 shoots great. I want a different stock for my present 20 inch compact rifle. Any suggestions?? I have looked at McMillian, just do not have a clue as to which stock. ?? I hope I am in the right place to ask this question...CHARLIE112
It reminded me of Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy the way it looked.....translucent goop? hot glue?..
LAWOFSAVAGE, Thanks... was kind of hung up with T3 AND T3X, THANKS AGAINMy understanding is that you order whichever Tikka T3 stock that has the bottom metal inlet you want. For example, I wanted to use the ctr mags, so I ordered an A5 adjustable with the ctr inlet. If you want one compatible with the mags that come with the T3 “lite” models, my understanding is that you order one that is compatible with the “Factory plastic” in the “bottom metal” drop down box when ordering like this one: https://mcmillanusa.com/product/game-hunter-tikka-t3-t3x/
Edit: if you’re asking about which stock to get, that’s so subjective depending on personal preference but I think that game hunter looks great for a long range hunting build as long as you don’t mind the weight.
What weight projectiles is everyone running in their 20" .308 barrels? I was thinking of using something in 155 or up to the 168gr SMK.
Doe anyone know what the receiver threads are on the Tikka Action?
Tikka has a 25mm shank with 1.5mm thread pitch. 1" shank, 16 thread pitch in USA
1 inch = 25.4mm
1/16 = .0625 inch; 1.5mm = .0590 inch
Nope. Tikka is 1" x16 tpi, the barloc you are talking is 1-1/16" x 16 tpi (that's 1/16" bigger)So a ARC Barloc 1-1/16" x 16TPI would work?

I have two Tikkas with barrel nuts made by Josh at PVA. Both are tack drivers. You only need a vice, the nut wrench and Go/No Go gauges. I cna change barrels in les than 10 minutes. Thanks @dannySH , trying to find something other than the barrel nuts for a switch barrel system, but that looks like it is the only option right now.
I put my T3x in one of these and it fit like a glove. What chassis/stock options are out there that used the factory CTR magazines? I have couple of CTR mags and they feed like butter but I am wanting a different stock or chassis but don't want to switch over to another magazine platform.
Thanks.
Thanks for posting the link I am going to get a CTR and was looking at a Manners but this may be a good option.I put my T3x in one of these and it fit like a glove.
They mention you might have to trim the ejection cut on the stock for the T3x but mine did not need anything done to it.
Bell and Carlson CTR
Well, as mentioned above, there is the new Manners tikka stock with mini chassis that takes CTR mags. Then there is a chassis by McRees, called the G10 that takes the CTR mags. There are probably other options, but I just don't know about them. What chassis/stock options are out there that used the factory CTR magazines? I have couple of CTR mags and they feed like butter but I am wanting a different stock or chassis but don't want to switch over to another magazine platform.
Thanks.

Also German Gun Stocks and PSE Composite stocks I believe. A mate didn't like the GGS stock, wasn't happy with the forend flex

GGS or GRS?Did he have issues with a GRS forend flexing? My GGS Predator is very stiff, not sure if I could get it to flex.
Tikka T3X Ctr in a manners T5A with 26" Hawk Hill barrel, CDI bottom metal, Vortex Razor Gen II in Mrad, Yo Dave trigger spring, Accu Tac bipod, and Rugged Razor Suppressor. These Tikkas shoot lights out in factory form but with a little gun mechanic love they are even better.
@Massoud from KRG said in the KRG Bravo thread that the enclosed forend for the Tikka is already in production. Moments later I was ordering my Bravo chassis. So, if you haven’t seen already, KRG launched an Enclosed Forend for W3, X-Ray and Bravo. Only problem is they, for some unexplainable reason (to me anyway), decided to only do it for that old dinosaur the R700 first.

But they say if there is enough interest that they will do it for the T3 in time, so I would suggest that any of you T3 owners interested in it send them an email expressing your interest so we can get them to wake up to the error of their ways ASAP.

-We are proceeding with the Enclosed Forend (wraparound like an AR style) for the T3 inlets (will fit Bravo, X-ray, and W-3). Estimate 6 weeks on availability.
