Yes and no. If you look at things purely at the surface then yes you are correct. But when you look a little deeper you find that shooter that are proficient with one or both systems get the same degree of accuracy with either.

It is a difficult and perishable skill that requires practice. But it doesn't mean it should be abandoned. Hell the military used this systems for many year with great success, no reason any other shooter can't master this skill.

Speak for yourself here. I see a lot of people purchase FFP scopes and then dump all their SFP optics soon after. Once one has been properly educated on FFP optics then few reasons exist to keep SFP. Also most shooters I know do not use the same magnification much of the time. Rather we adjust our optics as our situation dictates. With the improvements in variable power scopes over the past few decades few reasons exist to keep a fixed power optic.
I see allot of hype in the world of rifle scopes. FFP is one that most people don't need and now everyone thinks they have to have a MIL/MIL scope to be cool. In truth, a shooter with good fundamentals and a working knowledge of the ballistics of his rifle will be effective with whatever scope they choose to use.

If your serious about long range shooting spend some money on a good shooting school and quit trying to buy better guns and scopes! The cost will be less and you will be much happier with the results. </div></div>
A lot of new guys do spend money on gear when the problem is far from their gear. An no doubt more trigger time the best route to improvement. But good gear is a part of this equation also. Remember precision is 90% the shooter and 10% good gear. And I don't care how good the shooter is if the equipment is not up to the task then skill can't make up for the deficit.
