I had my gunsmith check out the condition of my barrel when I delivered parts for new rifle build last Friday.

With a borescope he observed fire cracking from the chamber extending six inches down the barrel.

TRG-22 has about 3000 bullets down the pipe. I would be the first to admit that I shoot when I want and don't wait much for barrel to cool. Barrels are like tires they are definately going to wear out and the harder you drive them the quicker they will wear.

I only shoot this rifle at 600 and 800 yards and last time I shot it i could still hold sub MOA 10 shot groups, conditions were excellent no wind no mirage and heavy overcast, ie very cloudy.

Plan is to shoot it at 100 later today and maybe 200 yards and see it I can shoot 1/2 MOA for 5 shot groups maybe 10 shot.

the barrel and you were doing just fine until you found out about the fire cracking in the bore, nothing has changed yet, you got another 1000 rounds before accuracy worsens, maybe more.
It is coming though, so order a barrel now and when the old one craps out you'll have a replacement ready.
hope this helps.

No I'm cool with that. If you want to play you have to pay. I only get 5000 miles out of a set of rear tires on a road car and that's considered decent, so I'm used to stuff wearing out.

Ronas,
My gunsmith told me not to look through a borescope on my rifle unless I was willing to change the barrel.
What he was getting at is that to a certain degree all barrels will show wear, and depending on what the base metal, they will wear different. A gunsmith that looks at barrels on a regular basis knows what he is looking for, to your average shooter, they will all look bad.
Just keep shooting the rifle and don't consider the barrel worn out until it wont hold a group.
Both of my TRG's have over 1,000 shots through them and they are tack drivers.
