My first serious rifle was an older TRG, one that came from the factory with a stainless barrel and a blued action. BY FAR the most comfortable and consistently accurate rifle I ever owned. I foolishly sold it. I ended trying a desert tech SRS, AIAX then a custom and I’ve yet to find anything that’s as enjoyable to shoot as the TRG. I found the factory buttstock more comfortable but the lack of quick adjustments led me to the W3 folder which I thought was awesome.

Currently on the lookout for another one. I miss that trigger!

I could not agree more…

I’m not in the market for a TRG but am curious why a few guys already have mentioned “pre 13”? I assume that means before 2013? What changed?

Regardless, these are some amazing rifles

The trigger design was changed in 2013. Many shooters prefer the feel of the pre-2013 triggers.
My TRGs have post-2013 triggers and I love them. I've never tried the older models.

The pre 13 rifles had fully adjustable triggers, meaning there were no limits on the adjustments and some people were adjusting them so lightly they would not re-set after they were fired. This reportedly required sending back to Beretta for repair, however I have owned 3-4 of them and adjusted them all fairly light without issue. The post 13 rifles had a limiting screw for the weight adjustment so they could not go as light, a different safety lever, and a different butt pad. I have owned 2 post 13 versions as well and I much prefer the pre 13, and currently am in the market for a 20” 308…

Thanks so much for starting this thread. I missed the old one ... good info there. Here is my favorite rifle. Early TRG rebarreled in 6.5 Creedmoor by SAC. KRG everything. Oh ... and I have accumulated 5 TRG mags (a personal goal of mine).

That is one sexy bitch! Plus 5 TRG mags that's legit. Well done sir...

A BRX in a TRG tread!! Heresy I say...
Sorry lol, I was offered a barreled action by a really nice gentleman for a fair price. But was put the nail in the coffin was that McMillan refuses to make stocks for them anymore even tho you can still buy the ptg bottom metal for them. And I don’t want to put one in a chasis. So I’d pretty much have to inlet my own walnut stock or find a smith to inlet a bare fiberglass stock sadly.

I love the trigger in my TRG. It’s probably a 15-16 model I would guess…

The bipod works really well too.

I’m not fond of the magazine limitations though. Where are you guys finding full capacity mags for a .338LM?

I just got the TRG-42 in .300WM and don't have much history on it. I am guessing it is a 1:11 barrel. I know 1:10 is another option but I don't know if that was an option in a pre-2013 model which is what this appears to be. I am ordering spacers from Terje and I would like to put a different optic on it down the road. The current optic on it is an old USO SN3 T-PAL made when they were in CA. It is solid but BIG and HEAVY, I think it could double as a Louisville Slugger in a pinch. It is a solid optic, but just a bit large and doesn't afford me any rail space from NV.
