Trump is back…the “Now What” thread

I was sitting just aft of the wing on a 727 flying into Rantoul on final approach.
Damned if I didn't think the same damn thing.
It was snowing and there was about 3-4" on the ground.
It topped out around 9-10 inches that night.
They closed the base the next morning.
Of course, we slept in those same old drafty assed WW-1 looking barracks for 3-4 days.
The base and the town were both shit holes.
For the life of me, I don't remember seeing those old Mob Barracks at Chanute. We had the newer cinder block/concrete barracks. Ours had the beer machines/chow hall, and two floors if memory serves me correctly. Maybe, I was "special", since I had to learn that B-52 in that hangar next to the flight line/inactive runway there. I remember marching to that hangar, then the doors opened, and I said to myself... sheeeet, I'm going to learn how to work on THAT?? I was just a farm boy from Oregon at that time, and all I ever turned a wrench on, were tractors, cars, and motorcycles at that point in my life. What a ride!

Our time in the wood barracks was short.
We moved into the 2 story concrete ones after a few days.
They moved us again, into the 3 story ones about a month later.

I was there for Aircraft Fuel Systems Repair, AKA Fuel Cell.
Most of our stuff was in the school house, but we did get to play with an F-4.
That was my one and only time in 21 years touching one.
While I was there (1984) we got to watch the last flying F-105 touch down. It was to become a static display.

60 minutes just started a SOB story about Trump and probably Elon.
It had come on after the local news and I just happened to catch the beginning.

They are stuck with Donald Trump as president for the next four years. There will be lots of sob stories from 60 minutes.

This is why I could not be a politician. He kept a straight face and answered her calmly. I would be like, "Ma'am, are you retarded? You think there was a right to free speech in NAZI Germany? Seriously? There was total and complete censorship of any anti-NAZI speech in print, broadcast, or in person. Why am I doing this interview? Do you have anybody more well informed there in the studio who can take over for you?"

I couldn't be as " polite".......there'd be many bleeps in my response / comments........ Many

Chanute had two B-52's, one in a hangar and one on the ramp. We powered the one on the ramp up and our Instructor showed us how the tail gun would track us as we wondered around behind it. Pretty cool sh#t (for the time).
I still don't remember any older barracks on the base during my time there.

If memory serves me correctly, they were way off to the east. It was a long hike to get anywhere from there. Nothing was around it.

Thinking back, that was 41 years ago. Holy crap!!

Ii guess the pulp mills will run out trees to make crying paper pretty soon.

I sure hope they do, and a tariff is put on Canada lumber......our stumpage price for pine here is more- less giving it away. The price isn't worth the damage to property that happens when logged at the moment. I have acreage that's been needing thinned , at offered price now, I'll let it thin naturally.

Make great habitat for deer and such for hunting when you thin out trees. (y)

she's insane. it wasn't free speech, it was controlled speech and controlled press.
just like we have with mainstream media and google today.

Not to mention, without free speech, the stupid bitch wouldn’t have a job, and would probably be drug off, shot, and thrown in a hole somewhere. Not only that, the Second Amendment protects her First Amendment right to keep blathering off such stupid shit like that. 🤦‍♂️

On a lighter note and off topic....you have any storm damage from Saturday's weather ? Local Dixie here was spared, thankfully. Not looking forward to the teens forecast mid week here.

Good to hear. Y’all have a lot of pecan trees up there that like to fall over in severe weather. But no damage here, just a few limbs down, and about 4” of rain. Yeah, possible ice later this week is going to suck. The next week is looking pretty good though.

"COVERT" != "SECRET"

I'm pretty sure this hasn't been a secret for a long time.

NYT By Julian E. Barnes, Maria Abi-Habib, Edward Wong and Eric Schmitt:

The covert drone program, which has not been previously disclosed, began under the Biden administration, according to U.S. officials and others familiar with the program.

General Guillot said the intelligence was shared with Mexican officials to help them “address the cartel violence in terms of sending more troops.” General Guillot said his command had increased intelligence collection in order to make “rapid progress against this threat.”
Asked about General Guillot’s comments, President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico said that Mexican sovereignty was “not negotiable, and we will always coordinate without subordinating.”

Does not sound like it was leaked. It sounds like it was released. The White House wants everybody to know what it is doing as a part of its propaganda campaign to show the White House is doing something.
either way, i don't think it is helpful to tell the cartels that we are mapping their sites...even if they already suspect or expect it.

No worries. 90% of what's out there and "reported" is yellow journalism.

I'm not upset about it or anything either, just try to save people some angst once in a while by digging for a little clarity on some of them.

For this one in particular I see posts from liberals who are pissed Trump is spying on our southern neighbor without a clue Brandon started it.

I also see posts like this one where people are upset for exposing our secrets to the enemy but Mexico has been on board from the beginning and I'd bet a dollar to a donut if anyone in Mexican politics knows about it then the cartel knows too.

And, of course, there are those on the Trump rah rah train hooting over Trump doing something nobody else has the guts to do even though Brandon did it first but no media outlet cared.

great, but it just shows that they could have saved countless lives and families if they had been doing this all along.

A few highlights from the past couple three years before Trump took office.

91,000 pounds (41,310 kilograms) of meth found there was equivalent to about half of the 162,000 pounds of the drug Mexico has seized all year so far

the amount of narcotics seized in this raid would have netted the cartels over $700 million USD

8,640 kilograms (about 19,000 pounds) of meth

Mexico drug bust ends with 3 tons of meth, 530,000 fentanyl pills seized
