Gunsmithing Uncle Mikes swivel help...

So I get my new Sako rifle with a barrel band. I put my Montana sling on it. I think they use Uncle Mikes swivels as shown in the pic.

Anyway, the rear fits perfect in the stud.

The hole in the barrel band is super tight for the swivel. I take a wooden dowel and a small hammer and tapped the swivel through the hole in the barrel band. It went but is super tight.

So, now the cross pin in the swivel is stationary with the barrel band and does not rotate or move freely.

The movement is coming from the swivel arms rotating on the swivel cross pin.

Will the wear the end off the swivel cross pin and cause the thing to come apart, or should it be good to go?
